Reappearing, David found himself inside a cozy room not too different from his family's living room.
"Who are you?" the elderly father of the two mutants asked.
"Hmm?" David replied, confused, as he turned to Charles.
"That is David Stone. He is an associate of mine, and he is also someone special, just like your son," Charles explained.
"Oh, can he do that?" the man asked, referring to his son.
"No, but she will in the future," David said as he stood up from the chair he was in.
Without minding either side of the conversation, he walked straight to the young girl, who looked no older than 12, in Piotr's arms.
"What are you doing?" Piotr asked.
"Helping," David said before placing a finger on the girl's forehead.
"Ouch!" the young Illyana shouted as she immediately held her forehead.
"You asshole!" her father shouted and tried to attack, only for David to telekinetically hold him back.
"You can claim it's a birthmark. It will save her life later in the future," David said before returning to his seat, a wide smile on his face.
As he sat, the entire family looked at him, bewildered by his behavior. Even Charles could be seen shaking his head.
"David, I think you should get going now. I'll inform you when I'm ready," Charles said.
"Sure thing, boss," David replied before fading out of existence.
The couple was shocked, staring at the now-empty chair and then back to Charles as if they had seen a ghost.
"I am sorry for his outlandish behavior, but I can assure you he means no harm."
"Then what about what he just did to my sister? There's a burn mark on her face now," Piotr complained.
"David is a complicated man, to say the least, but he is nearly all-knowing and all-powerful. If he says it will save your sister's life in the future, then it will… that much I can swear on my life," Charles said.
"You seem to trust the boy a lot."
"Well, it's not like I have much of a choice. He kind of makes it hard for you not to trust him," Charles laughed as he replied.
He wasn't lying, though. It was his job, both as an educator and the keeper of the X-Men, to not only watch out for potentially harmful mutants but to keep them close to monitor them. And on that list, David was at the very top. A being so powerful that he had seen some students attempting to worship him.
His power should make it impossible to fully trust him. However, the young man's questionable personality reminds you that he is human.
"If that boy is that powerful, then what do you need my son for?"
"Truthfully, I keep asking myself that same question. However, he refuses to take even a single step to the front lines unless absolutely necessary. And now, I wonder when it will be absolutely necessary," Charles said as his smile faded.
All of this could have been solved if David had simply gone on the mission with them. However, for some reason, the fact that David was still here, calm, brought Charles some relief as well.
"It seems you have your mind and hands full just watching over that boy. I can only hope you'll worry about and take care of me as much as you do him."
"That much I can promise," Charles replied before standing and giving a small bow.
