Abandoned

Shen and Ming were sitting at the coffee shop at the airport. They were waiting for their friend, Dale. Their friend should arrive at three.

"He's late," Ming complained as he checked the time on his old phone. It was three-fifteen now yet Dale had not arrived yet.

"Maybe his flight is delayed, just wait. You are the one who dragged me to pick him up yet you are the one complaining," Shen rolled his eyes at his friend as he slurped the milk tea.

Speaking of the devil, Ming's phone rang and Dale's name came up on his phone. Ming immediately picked up the call, "Yo, Dale. Where are you?" Ming's impatient voice rang.

Shen could hear the weird accent from the phone, it was Dale's voice. He was asking where they were and Ming told Dale where they were. It did not take long before Dale arrived. A man with blonde hair, white pale skin, and a high bridge nose called them out, "Ming! Shen!"

The guy did not bring luggage but just a backpack on his back. He swiftly sat next to them but Shen and Ming stood up from the chair.

"Hey! At least let me get the drink first and catch up with me," Dale complained, causing Shen and Ming to grin at each other.

"Your fault, you're fifteen minutes late. I bet you were flirting with the stewardess." Ming squinted his eyes at his friend. Dale looked away from Ming and looked toward Shen, "Yo Shen, how is it going? Can you tell me now how to get to hidden—"

Ming rushed toward Dale and covered his mouth, "You can't ask that here, what if the others listen to you? Do you want your spot to get taken?" He whispered to Dale to make sure no one heard him. However, Dale's presence already caught the people in the cafe. Now the two made a ruckus, everyone in the cafe was looking at them.

"Alright! Alright! Chill man," Dale winked his right eye at Ming, "We have to wait for my capsule to arrive too. Let's chill here for a while while I get the drink, okay?"

Ming nodded and let out a defeated sigh, "Alright! Alright! Go ahead,"

Shen looked at the time, "Quick please, I promise Eunha to visit her today." Dale nodded and rushed to get his drink. The two of them also knew Eunha and knew her condition as well. Shen's little friend, they called her.

They caught up at the cafe for fifteen minutes before Dale got a call from the delivery service that the gaming pod arrived at the airport. Ming drove his father's pick-up car so they could put the gaming pod on the car.

"Alright then, I will go to the hospital to meet Eunha," Shen left alone while his two friends got Dale's gaming pod.

He left by taxi and arrived at the hospital half an hour later. The little girl was happy that he visited her and did not mind that he was late. He played with Eunha until seven at night. They had dinner together before he delivered her back to her ward. As he promised to the head nurse, he visited her like five to six times a week. He also spared his time for her and he was glad that Eunha's condition was getting better by the day.

Shen waved his hand at Eunha who also waved her hand back at her from her bed before he closed the door. There was a nurse who would accompany her in the room until she fell asleep, so Shen was not worried. The nurses were so kind to do that for Eunha.

As Shen went to the first floor, many nurses greeted him. He was so famous in the rehabilitation center that almost all nurses knew him. He greeted them back with a nod and smile. When he came out of the building, someone pulled him over. He was startled that someone suddenly pulled him.

Shen looked to the side, it was Doctor Lu who pulled him over. His doctor had been taking care of his injury, "Do you have time, Shen? I want to talk about Eunha with you?"

It was rare for Doctor Lu to want to speak about Eunha. She was not his patient so he was surprised when Doctor Lu wanted to talk about Eunha. He nodded his head and wondered what Doctor Lu wanted to talk about,

Doctor Lu brought him to the pavilion in the park, the place where he often played with Eunha. They sat there and Doctor Lu said nothing for like a minute, "I want to talk about her parents. We have been trying to call her parents but they never answered our call. Two days ago, our hospital number was blocked by them, and now we can't reach them. Do you perhaps know where Eunha's parents are?"

"What about the registered address? Has someone visited their house yet?" Shen was kinda worried when he heard this.

"We sent nurses there but the house was sold. It was occupied with a new family," Doctor Lu shook his head. Shen's mouth opened, wanting to say something but no words came out from his mouth.

"Eunha's condition has gotten better and she could be discharged soon," Doctor Lu scratched his hair and hesitated to speak.

"Just say it, what happens if her parents can't be contacted until the day she can be discharged?" Shen was aware of what Doctor Lu wanted to say to him. It was about Eunha's future if her parents could not be found.

"If we can't find her parents, we are forced to send her to the orphanage," Doctor Lu lowered his head. At this point, they had come to the conclusion that Eunha was abandoned by her parents.

Shen could not believe that her parents had the heart to do that. He massaged the sides of his head as he lowered his head too. If Eunha found out that her parents abandoned her, it would be bad for her heart. He could not imagine how hurt it would be for Eunha, he did not dare to imagine it.

"Actually, I want to adopt her, but you know. She needed special attention, but I am working and my wife is also working too. We can't be with her most of the time. I don't think that is a good idea for us to adopt her," Doctor Lu shook his head regretfully.
