Chapter 58: Eternal City II

...........

However, the name of Isaac's City, Eternal; doesn't exactly spell trying to hide, so what exactly is happening?

"Hey!! Stay in line!"

"Remember the Rules! If you don't know the rules of Eternal City, look at the Screen behind him!! It has all the Rules!!"

"When you reach me, get out of your carriage and the Overseer will scan you! All of you must be scanned to be granted entry!"

Eternal City was thriving, its gates crowded with an endless line of carriages and visitors.

Carriages come and go. However, the people within, all without question get scanned by an advanced camera.

Then they are given an ID card, a very elementary ID system but much better than the no ID system that the Ninja world has.

The ID was so elementary that it only included an ID number and a picture.

The Overseer is responsible for processing the pictures taken by the camera thus creating the IDs and then printing them and ditributing them.

From then, every individual is added to the Overseer's database, further supplemented by their entry and exit as well as reasons for their visit. If it's trading they came here for, the types of goods they sell also gets included.

"Are we sure about this? Eternal's security is very strict," There were many carriages, one of them was special, four individuals within.

They don't look suspicious at all, wearing very common clothes usually worn by traders. They fit in quite well, but their words... Not so much.

"We're in disguise, so just shut up and drive," One of the four spoke coldly, responding to the coachman.

The coachman was a bit nervous, but the other three were very calm, adhering to the rules of Eternal City.

The three got their IDs, then they entered the city. The Coachman already had an ID for it wasn't his first time here. They are spies sent to collect intelligence, and they aren't the only ones.

Pretty much every Shinobi Village sent spies to the Land of Rain, though most were sent specifically to Eternal City.

The coachman was right, Eternal City's security was extremely strict. There were cameras everywhere, and guards always walking around, watching everyone carefully.

Therefore, the spies dared not act abnormally just yet, allowing the Coachman to drive them to the market.

"Oh, Isamu, you're back so soon?" Once the Coachman reached the marketplace, someone called for him with curiosity.

The Coachman named Isamu nodded, stopping the carriage by the side before shaking his friend's hand, nodding as he said, "The harvest is very good this year."

"Indeed indeed, all thanks to Lord Isaac and Pain. There is food on the table and a smile on my face, hahaha," The man was quite joyful, but he didn't forget his job, "What do we have here?"

"Just Potatoes this time," The Coachman responded.

"Alright, bring the products here please!" The buyer instructed, pointing to a strange flat device by the side.

"What's that?" The Coachman wondered, the device new even to him despite having been here only three weeks ago.

"Oh, you haven't heard? This is the new invention of Cosmic Eye Innovation. It's a scale. Come, put the containers of products on it and you'll see," Said the Buyer.

The Coachman didn't have to do anything as the three spies by his side did the job for him. They are disguised as his workers after all.

They transferred the containers to the device and watched for a few seconds before a number appeared on its side, "Here it is! The exact weight of the products! Brilliant, don't you think?"

"It's... It's amazing," The Coachman said sincerely. Previously, to measure the weight of products, they had to weigh them on small inaccurate scales, little by little. The scale before him made things so much easier.

The buyer brought out his tablet and started inputting some information, "And look, a new thing, an application, had just been launched. You just input the information, and it does all the calculations for you."

"..."

"..."

"..."

The three spies glanced at each other, seeing a glimpse of shock in each other's eyes.

Eternal was becoming weirder, especially when they heard word of Cosmic Eye Innovation, a company that should be most active only in the Land of Fire.

"Nona, inform the crew to come and transport the goods inside," The buyer suddenly said something strange, strange because there was no one near them, and neither of the three are named Nona.

[Understood!] Someone did respond, a voice that came from the tablet.

The Coachman seemed to have realized something as he said, "Don't tell me?"

"You don't know? Have you been living under a rock for the last weeks or something?" The Buyer raised a brow but still bragged, "This is the thing called Artificial Intelligence, I don't know exactly how it works, but it made my life just about ten times easier!"

"I know that, but why does it sound like that?" The Coachman asked with curiosity.

"Oh, a new feature, you can customize it. What do you think about the voice? Cute, no?"

The buyer had a grin on his face as he continued, "But be careful lest the wife hears it! Akimoto used it and his wife thought he was cheating, Bahahahaha! She almost beat him up!"

"Akimoto?! That pure and honest Akimoto? Hahahaha!" Even the Coachman laughed.

"Hey, here is a tip, you can instruct the AI to change its voice automatically once at home!"

The buyer soon had to go back to work, so they split up, the Coachman taking the three spies for a tour though they didn't seem happy.

"We asked you about these things before, why did you not know?" They questioned coldly, whispering lest someone hear them.

"Ah, I-I didn't know! I don't have the internet, so I only find out about these things from the news or when I go back here... There is Internet throughout the City for free," The Coachman was uneasy, obviously his first time doing something like this.

"Hmph, If I find out you're lying..." The spy snorted though he left the consequence a mystery, but the Coachman knew without a doubt that the consequences would befall his family if he had lied.

"Huh?" Suddenly, one of the spies' eyes couldn't help but constrict as he said in shock, "Tsunade????"
