Kekkei Genkai Awakening

[~ Initializing system... loading...]]

[The support system has been successfully initialized.]

Looking at the translucent screen that appeared before his eyes, filled with familiar text and symbols, Yami wanted to cry.

"Bastard system, have you finally repaired yourself?" He cursed for a while before calming down, and waited for the system to finish loading.

After a while, the screen flickered, and a new set of information appeared.

Name: Yami Asano

Age: 13

Chakra Capacity: 600/2000 (Genin-Low)

Spiritual Energy: 800/2500 (Genin-Low)

Strength: 18/500

Endurance: 17/500

Durability: 15/500

Agility: 22/500

Taijutsu: 18/500

Ninjutsu: 14/500

Genjutsu: 8/500

Bukijutsu: 15/500

Chakra Control: 70%

Chakra Affinities:

Wind (nature transformation): 65%

Fire (nature transformation): 40%

Kekkei Genkai: (N/A)

Special Abilities: [Invisibility-lvl3] [Soul Perception, LV2]

It looked like a list of his abilities as a shinobi. His general shinobi training and physical abilities were listed as numerical values out of five hundred. His chakra capacity was listed as low, which was accurate as he had a pitiful amount.

And chakra affinity? He already used Chakra conduit paper to know his affinity, so he wasn't surprised. Wind and fire weren't a bad combination, honestly.

"Wait, there's something more important than analyzing my status," Yami huffed, glaring at the screen. "Was it you who brought me to this world?" he demanded.

Yami remembered that he was on the verge of death when a sudden voice rang in his mind, asking if he wanted to live. At first, Yami dismissed it as a mere hallucination, but as he approached death, he decided to entertain himself and answer the voice. And then the next thing he knew, was waking up as a civilian Genin with almost nonexistent talent at all. Fortunately, the system gave him two abilities before going to maintenance.

Now that the system was back online, Yami wanted to know if he could communicate with it and know its intentions for bringing him to this world.

Yami's life experience made him a paranoid person who wouldn't accept people's kindness without speculating about their ulterior motives.

The screen did not change. No other words appeared to answer his questions. He tried tossing out a few arbitrary commands, but nothing happened. It just stayed the same.

Yami sighed, and just when he was about to dismiss the screen, a new window suddenly popped up.

[Congratulations on your successful Transmigration, host.]

Yami blinked at the new message. It was the first sign that the system could indeed interact with him, though it seemed to have its own pace as it had been over a year since he was transmigrated.

"System, can you tell me why I was brought here? And who did it? Was it you?" Yami asked mentally, hoping for another response.

For a moment, nothing happened. Then, the screen flickered, and a new set of instructions appeared.

[The omniscient being World Eater saw potential in you, so he gave you a second chance in life to serve him until you achieve your desired purpose.]

"World Eater?" Yami had never heard of such a being before. Was it hiding in the Narutoverse or from another fiction work? But again, this whole transmigration thing was beyond his mortal understanding, so accepting the existence of such an omniscient being who could send people to a work of fiction wasn't impossible.

Yami didn't ask stupid questions like why he was given this chance instead of someone more talented than him for fear of being replaced. Instead, he asked, "What is exactly my purpose and mission for being sent here?"

[Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to harvest the Chakra fruits and find the Otsutsuki core planets to harvest their entire accumulated energy.]

"Huh?"

Surprised by the mission he was given, Yami stared at the window blankly. But despite his glare, the words didn't change.

"Are you joking with me?"

Him, fight the strongest clan in the universe, the Otsutsuki, and take their energy drink formed from squeezing an entire world? Are you kidding me?!

Harvesting Chakra fruits and dealing with the Otsutsuki? It sounded like a task for someone with far more potential than him. He didn't even have a decent Kekkei Genkai that allowed him to reach the Super Kage level, which was the basic requirement to participate in the final war against Kaguya.

"What happens if I refuse?" Yami thought, testing the system's boundaries.

Another message appeared promptly:

[Refusal is not an option.] [Non-compliance will result in immediate termination.]

Yami's heart skipped a beat. It looked like he had no choice but to comply.

"Serve him until I achieve my purpose."

Yami didn't mind working under such an omniscient being, but the phrase 'until you achieve your desired purpose' made him uncomfortable. Was his paranoid mind playing tricks on him again, or did this sentence mean that he would be discarded once he was done with his mission?

"Can I at least have some benefits, something to help me get stronger and reach the same level as the Otsutsuki?" Yami asked hopefully.

[Negative…]

Reading the response, Yami's heart almost sank before more lines appeared on the message.

[The host was already given a special orb to help him achieve his goal.]

"What? When?"

[This is the end of the message.] Please note that failure to achieve your purpose will result in your soul being tossed into limbo for eternity. [Good luck with your mission, host.]

"Wait…" Yami shouted but got no response. He tried several times with no avail.

Yami's thoughts were a whirlwind. This second chance in life might be more of a curse than a blessing, but he was determined not to die and to try everything to succeed in his mission while secretly searching for a way to break free from the chains that this omniscient being had put on him.

Yami took a deep breath, willing himself to focus.

"Alright, System, You mentioned a special orb. Where is it, and how do I use it?"

There was no response, but suddenly he felt himself holding something that wasn't in his hand a second ago.

Opening his clenched fist, Yami saw a small, bluish-purple orb. The light was so mesmerizing that Yami lost himself for a moment before regaining his composure, but he couldn't tear his eyes away from it.

"Beautiful," he murmured.

The orb was about the size of a pinball, and it looked like it had something soft and downy inside. The purple light came from that substance inside the orb.

[Initiate Assimilation…]

The purple orb seemed to stick to his hand like glue. His pupils dilated as he watched the orb shrink, seemingly melting. The purple liquid seeped into his skin through his pores, sending a chill down his arm as it coursed through his blood vessels.

He hastily tried to remove the orb, shaking his hand, but it clung stubbornly, shrinking by the second. Before he knew it, the orb was completely absorbed into his body.

"Shit!" he cursed, unsure if he was damning his luck or his curiosity. Without dwelling on regret, he tried to discern if anything had changed in him after the orb had entered his body.

He inspected his hand to see where the orb had been absorbed, then examined the rest of his body. There was no obvious change in his physical appearance, but when he placed his hand on his chest, he felt a strange sensation.

His heart seemed to stutter and beat twice in quick succession, almost as if two hearts were beating in his chest.

"What in the..." he stammered, caught between curiosity and fear.

With every erratic beat of his heart, waves of heat engulfed his body, as if flames were burning him from within. His very being seemed consumed by an inferno, each pulse intensifying the blaze.

[Assimilation with a fragment...]

[Strength increased by 10 points.]

[Agility increased by...]

[Vitality increased by...]

A flurry of messages filled his vision, showing him the rapid increase in his stats, but he was in no condition to check them.

Overwhelmed by the intensity of the sensation, he collapsed to the ground, convulsing and rolling in agony like a snake. He screamed until his voice turned hoarse, a guttural cry of torment piercing the air.

In a desperate frenzy, Yami clawed at his own skin, trying to extinguish flames that weren't there. His movements were wild and frantic as he fought the invisible inferno consuming him from within.

[Assimilation successfully completed.]

After what felt like hours of torment, his body was exhausted and his spirit was drained. The fiery turmoil within him finally subsided, leaving him shivering and gasping for air.

"What in the hell happened to me?!" Yami struggled to stay conscious, his chest heaving with rapid breaths. The cool sensation of the floor provided a brief moment of relief.

[Congratulations!! [You have awakened your dormant Kekkei Genkai.]
