Gu corporation, President's office

Since he was done saving the beauty, Gu Zichen wanted to deal with some important matters. While he was reading some documents, his assistant Chen Fei and little bother Gu Zihao reported the results of their investigations.

In a tone full of caution, Chen Fei explained "President Gu, It's like this. Miss Zhao...she was heartbroken and attempted suicide because you blatantly rejected her. So, Elder Zhao...he tried to attack you for his daughter's sake.."

Gu Zichen said nothing and gave a slight grunt of affirmation. His face was devoid of expressions and he seemed deep in thought but one could feel the cold air emitting from him.

Gu Zichen looked calm externally but his heart was burning in anger. He couldn't believe that someone dared to kill him because of a stupid woman who couldn't accept reality and control her emotions.

The other two men in the room already sensed someone's death coming up. They looked at each other and paid deep condolences to the Zhao family in advance.

Chen Fei continued "Also Miss Li is back in the country"

Gu Zichen narrowed his eyes as he looked at Chen Fei. "You want to die?" His voice was dangerous and cold.

Chen Fei shuddered and wiped the thin layer of sweat formed on his forehead. For a second, he forgot that his boss was no longer the same man who cared about the young miss of the Li family, Li Xiaoyi.

"Sorry, Boss"

Gu Zichen suddenly tilted his head to glance at his little brother. On the other side, Gu Zihao stood with a confused expression. "What?!"

What could he say regarding his brother's complicated personal life?

Gu Zichen sighed and asked "That woman from earlier...What's her name?"

Gu Zihao smiled brightly and clapped in excitement "Her name is Wu Jinyan. She's 24 years old. She graduated from Brilliant Acting School. And the good thing out of all, she's..."

Gu Zihao continued until his brother lifted a hand to make him stop blabbing too much. Gu Zichen raised a brow and asked "Married?"

"Ahh..?!!"

"Is she married?" Gu Zichen repeated his question.

Gu Zihao looked confused for a moment but still answered. "No... She was supposed to get married three years ago but didn't. Now she was kidnapped because she didn't want to get married.."

"That's enough. Now both of you can get out" Gu Zichen threw his assistant and little brother out mercilessly.

Wu Jinyan regained consciousness in the afternoon. She was thankful to feel no pain or stinging sensation anywhere.

She slowly opened her eyes and scanned her surroundings. The decorations were extravagant and definitely, a place she was unfamiliar with.

She sat up to look at herself dressed in the same clothes as in the morning. She was also relieved that she successfully escaped from that Han something.

Suddenly, a memory flashed in her mind. Her manager Lin Ran's warning rang in her ears "In case you fail the audition, don't even bother coming back" 

It wasn't the time for her to cry over whether she g. "God, I'm done. Sister Lin will kill me" 

Although it was not entirely her fault, she still missed the audition and had to explain to sister Lin before it got too late. She grabbed her belongings from the bedside table. However, she froze the next second as she saw a man walking towards her.

He's... that guy from yesterday. Previously, she saw him lying unconscious with blood continuously streaming down his face. Now he seemed pretty normal only with a tiny bandage on his head.

Wu Jinyan sighed in relief. Her efforts paid off. Now he was perfectly fine and sound or else the poor world would have missed this charming man.

It's just that she didn't expect him to get discharged from the hospital so soon. Her heart was still aching with the loss her body suffered but this man was roaming around carelessly without taking rest. 

"Hey, Why did you get discharged so early? Why are you roaming recklessly? Do you even know how much I invested in saving you?" Her face was full of disbelief and her words sounded as though she was severely wronged.

As she stared at him for a second more, her brain pictured some random fragments of memories.

'Wait...Those eyes... those lips' Wu Jinyan's face instantly turned red as she recalled how she acted before him that morning. She must have looked just like a crazy woman.

She tried to escape by running around him but she felt a hand on her wrist, stopping her.

Wu Jinyan looked at him, her face becoming redder and her heart pounding. She couldn't take this anymore. She was already losing control under his intense gaze. She couldn't help it. He looked really handsome and charming. 

"I know that you saved my life before and I saved you this morning in return. However, I don't think that's enough to repay for your kindness" Gu Zichen spoke to clear the awkwardness.

"Alright.. then what will I be receiving then?!" She went along, pulled her hand away and moved a step back to make sure she wouldn't be too close to him. She was afraid she would do something inappropriate.

"ME" 

Wu Jinyan saw him smile brightly and she gulped subconsciously staring at his face sculpted to perfection. Her tiny heart was palpitating too furiously, she could even hear the heavy drumming in her ears. 

Looking at her red face, Gu Zichen chuckled leaning closer to her and whispered in his enchanting voice "Let me rephrase it. I'm saying I'll repay your kindness by marrying you"

Marry!!

"Don't joke, okay" Wu Jinyan pushed him right away and ran out not giving him a second glance. 

This man had some malfunctioning mind to think of such twisted methods to repay her. She wasn't in a situation to laugh at his stupid joke.

Gu Zichen raked through his brain to convince her immediately. He ran after her saying "Don't you think you need a man by your side to protect you after what happened in the morning?"
