"Sorry," Luke said as he held me, helping me with my still trembling legs. "You were running around. It was hard to track you among all the other scents." He then twirled me around, frowning as he found a few scratches here and there. "Are you okay?"
I nodded, but when I actually saw the state I was in, I realized the word "okay" would sound about as convincing as Maggie refusing money. I was pretty much battered, with dirt and blood mixed on my skin. I didn't even realize how torn my dress and cape were.
"At least I'm still alive," I said, smiling at him but receiving only his furrowed brows as a reply. I leaned against his chest, finally feeling a little relieved and safe. I can't even express how happy I am now that we are back together. It's crazy how much his presence affects me.
