Xin Yue's past

A middle-aged woman stood in front of Xin Yue pointing towards her, "Officer ma'am, arrest her."

Xin Yue was dumbfounded on seeing the situation in the house. Why was she going to be arrested? What did she do wrong? 

The questions in her mind were answered when the middle-aged woman spoke again, "Thank God, I came to know about it in time. Otherwise, this girl would have taken away my beloved nephew." 

The middle-aged woman then pretended to cry and gain sympathy of the surrounding people. This act of hers was nothing but a tactic to bully Xin Yue. 

"What nonsense are you talking, aunt?" Xin Yue asked in confusion.

Chen Rui deliberately spoke in a loud voice, "I am talking nonsense? Look at you. You look so innocent but your deeds are so despicable."

She then gathered the attention of the onlookers, "Look at this girl. She manipulated a 5-year-old boy and was ready to kidnap him. If I had not known this in time, this vixen would have taken away my nephew."

Xin Yue shook her head desperately as she tried to explain herself, "She is lying to everyone. I did not do anything."

"Are you calling me a liar?" Chen Rui grew furious, "I am a woman with a good background. I am not like you who is an orphan. Nobody knows where you came from. Who knows where my dead brother picked up a bastard child like you from!"

Xin Yue's face turned pale. The only sore spot in her heart was scratched heavily by Chen Rui. 

Mu Haoran's father, Mu Hui had found Xin Yue in the garbage bin near their house. Little Xin Yue was wrapped in a good-quality blanket with her name stuck on it. Despite covered by dirt, Xin Yue's exquisite looks could not be hidden. Her big round eyes glistened with tears as she cried continuously.

As soon as Mu Hui picked up little Xin Yue, the cries stopped. The baby girl looked at him with a pair of curious eyes. Mu Hui's heart melted when he glanced at the little girl looking at him with her teary eyes. He could not bear to abandon her again and so he brought her home. 

When Madam Mu saw a baby in her husband's hands, she was shocked. Weird thoughts flooded her mind as she tried to find out the answer to the question that why was her husband carrying an unknown baby. 

Mu Hui knew that his wife was quite an overthinker and thus he hurriedly explained everything to Madam Mu. After knowing the crux of the matter, Madam Mu looked at the child in her husband's arms and a motherly feeling rose from her heart.

The Mu couple had been married for 5 years but they were still not able to conceive. Madam Mu liked children very much and not having any was a scar on her heart. Thus, on seeing little Xin Yue, Madam Mu felt that gods had taken a pity on her and sent her a child. She thus said to her husband that they should keep the child. 

However, Mu Hui was a sensible person. Even though he too had a great wish to become a father, he knew that just keeping the child was illegal. He thus convinced his wife that they should report the matter to police. And until the police found Xin Yue's parents, they would request them to let them take care of the little girl.

Madam Mu was very reluctant to agree to her husband's suggestion. However, she could not find a good reason to refute him. Thus, the Mu couple reported the matter to police and waited for Xin Yue's parents to be found. 

However, even after a whole year, nobody came to take Xin Yue away from them. The Mu couple then decided to adopt the little girl and raise her as their own. They also decided to name her the same as was on the blanket she was wrapped in.

Mu Hui and Madam Mu doted on Xin Yue to the core. Her every legitimate wish was fulfilled and she grew up to look even more beautiful and bubbly. She was a naturally cheerful child and she bought a wave of happiness in the lives of the Mu family.

17 years later, miraculously, Madam Mu got pregnant. Mu Hui's happiness knew no bounds when he found out that they were going to be parents again. He also felt that Xin Yue was a lucky charm of their family as everything good happened after he had brought her into the family.

However, Mu Hui's happiness did not last long after that. During labour, Madam Mu passed away and the baby boy born was a cripple. Mu Hui broke down instantly when he heard the news. It took time for him to stabilize his emotions as he knew that he had to take care of the two children. 

However, he was not accustomed to do both office work and household chores. Even if Xin Yue did most of the chores, she could not take care of little Haoran. 

When Mu Hui was struggling with his situation, his divorcee sister Chen Rui offered to help. Chen Rui was a nasty lady but she behaved very well in front of her brother. However, as soon as her brother left for earning money, she would bully the two kids, especially Xin Yue. 

One day, Mu Hui encountered an accident and died on the spot. Thus, the two children were left to Chen Rui who hated both of them.
