A scary encounter

I woke up feeling refreshed, I will try to gather energy again later tonight and then try to test if I can do any of that paranormal stuff once I'm fully charged! I can't wait to find out what my powers will be!

I was humming to myself when I got out of the cabinet and just noticed the weird vibe going on with Mayu and Hiro. Mayu looked like she had won the lottery and full of energy. She has this shining but creepy smile on her while Hiro… Well... He looks like crap!

He has dark circles under his eyes and he looks so ragged as if he didn't get any rest at all! He's exhausted but I clearly remember he went to sleep last night, although he went out then return late but still he shouldn't be this exhausted.

My eyes went back again to Mayu, she couldn't have done something to him, right? Mayu went towards me and said that once Hiro is done with breakfast, finished bathing and changing we will head out to the Fushimi Inari-taisha shrine.

Excited to head out, Hiro's weird conditioned was already forgotten. We followed Hiro that is walking like a zombie towards the dining area when suddenly there was a commotion near the entrance. There's a paramedic rushing inside the inn and went towards the back, followed by another and was holding a plastic stretcher thingy.

I just looked at the direction that they went to and was a little baffled. What the heck is going on here? While I was still thinking about what could've happened, the paramedics are now rushing to go outside and were carrying someone on the litter. My eyes widen upon seeing who was being carried!

"Tch! She's still alive! I was careless. Should've have made sure that she was dead before I left!" I heard someone said from behind. And I don't need to guess who it is because the voice is very familiar to me. It's Mayu!

"What happened? What did you do to her!?" I asked bewildered with what I heard.

"Well, she deserved it! Sluts like her deserve to die! You wouldn't believe what she did to Hiro! She seduced him! She was kissing him and showing her breast to him! And what's worst she went down on her knees and grabbed his dick and titty fuck him! Could you believe that!? Just because she has big boobs she can flounce around and seduce whomever she wants! Well, she made a mistake of doing that disgusting thing to Hiro! I have to punish her so she won't do that again, ever!" She rambled.

"What!? Something like that happened last night?!" I blurted out. I didn't know that there will be a place where they can do that since there will be employees and other guests that will still be walking around even if it's already late.

"I know right?! The nerve of that girl! So I followed her to her room and I saw that she took off her charm bracelet. When I made sure that she was asleep, I invaded her dreams and made sure that she will not wake up… Ever! But I don't know how she was able to stay alive when I made sure that she will not survive my visit. Oh well, I can try again later. Kekeke!" She was giving off that creepy laugh again!

I didn't correct her that I accidentally blurted the words, was because I was shocked at what happened and not agreeing with her that the girl is too bold to do it. Now I'm not so sure if we should go out today. If what she said about a Shinigami is true, isn't she doing a crime right now by attempting to kill a human? I don't want to get caught and be identified as an accomplice! I'm innocent you know!

While I was brooding at the side, Mayu looked at Hiro and started ogling at him again. This girl… I just left her there with her Hiro and went back to our room and hid inside the cabinet.

I'll just say I'm not feeling well so that she wouldn't pester me to go out later, I'm not sure I'm ready to see a real live Shinigami right now. So I'll just stay inside here in my cozy little cabinet and hoped that I won't get dragged outside to play!

While I was relaxing, I heard the door opened and suddenly someone grabbed me and pulled me outside the cabinet! It was Mayu who pulled me and she was still all smiley and the expression on her face says that I need to come out and sightsee with her.

Without a choice, I followed her outside the inn and rode the bus towards our destination. When we reached the shrine I can see that it's quite popular, there are a lot of tourists arriving or walking towards the shrine. And the color of the shrine is bright red or was it orange? Honestly, I can't tell since the color sort of like glares into my eyes that even if I close them I can still see that bright red/orange color like it was imprinted in my eyeballs.

I looked at Mayu and then at Hiro. Hiro still looks like a zombie and was trudging along with the other tourist like he's on a trance or something. Mayu, as always look so happy walking along with her beloved Hiro and not minding me any attention. And she said that she will give me a tour and all but looks as if she was having a date with Hiro, and me looking like a 3rd wheel, even though he really can't see us.

I just leave them be and looked around the place. When we first walked in I saw a huge torii gate and after that, I saw fox statues near the gates. Now I'm looking at the map, it's pretty simple and easy to understand. I saw the huge torii gate at the entrance and then the big shrine, now if I walk further from the shrine I will see the long lines of torii gates going up to the summit.

I looked for Mayu and Hiro so that I can tell her that I will walk the long line of torii gates and see what the scenery look like from the top of the summit. I saw Hiro standing near a bamboo contraption that releases water and people hold a bamboo scoop and drink the water from it. I forgot what they call them but I think I remember reading or watching from somewhere that it's like a way to cleanse yourself before going inside a shrine, or I could be wrong and they are just thirsty and wants to have a drink?

Even though I saw Hiro and now a girl is talking to him and he looks like he had regained some energy… I can't see Mayu beside him, which is weird, she rarely left his side for long and she always makes sure that she always comes back to his side to fight off any potential love interest for Hiro.

I looked around and saw her walking towards the far end of the shrine. Curious as to why she was going there I followed her and tried to peek at what she was doing. I saw her walking towards what looks like a maze made from stones, but when you closely look at the huge stones they look like huge stone tablets with words written on them or more like Japanese style tombstones!

I got scared immediately! I'm still a weakling and I don't know how Japanese ghosts react to a foreigner ghost like me! They could be friendly or hostile depending on their mood, and since I have some bit of spiritual essence I bet other ghosts will be able to see me now unlike how I was invisible to them before.

Thinking of going back, I heard Mayu's voice and she sounded angry that her shouts sounded like screeches from a horror film. I followed her voice and hiding behind a huge stone tablet I carefully peek at what she was shouting about.

"(What right do you have to judge me! I didn't do anything wrong! I just punished that immoral human that tried to taint my Hiro! Don't butt into my business and leave me alone or else I will use all my powers to destroy you even if you are a Shinigami!)" Mayu was shouting at the cloaked ghost. She was shouting in Japanese so I can't understand what she was saying, I only understand Hiro's name and… Shinigami?!

"(As the envoy of King Yama, I have every right to punish unruly ghosts that are out of the line. Not only have you terrorized these humans, but you also preyed upon lesser ghosts to steal their hard-earned spirit chips. Now you went as far as trying to kill a human! Now, you must face the consequences!)" The ghost wearing a cloaked was saying something and hearing his voice it sounded old and coming from the grave.

I saw him raised his hand and pointed to Mayu. "(I sentence you Fields Mayu, to a punishment of a thousand whippings, a thousand hits with a paddleboard and then submerged in boiling oil for 500 years. Be thankful that you still have a chance in participating in the trials for reincarnation after your punishment is over. Now, receive your punishment!)" The shinigami shouted and then I saw a whip coming out of his sleeve and he whips it towards Mayu! Oh shit! I gotta get out of here and save my ass!
