Chapter 22: Sports Festival

Since it's the day of the sports festival I decided to go way earlier than I usually reach school. As I was getting ready to go to school, a knock was heard on my door "Come in."

After hearing my response the door opened and Yuki came in with a big smile. Seeing this I asked her, "What happened?"

"Nothing"

Knowing her there's probably something she wants, I picked her up and went downstairs to see mom and dad sitting there discussing something. As I saw them I interjected "Morning."

"Morning. What's the matter Yuki" Mom asked her.

"Nothing." She repeated the same thing she told me.

"Oh, come on we all know if you say it's nothing then there will definitely be something. So what is it?" Dad asked her.

"....."

"Come on Yuki, tell us. What's up?"

"Can we go and watch the festival there?"

"That's it?"

"Yeah."

"Well that's what we have been discussing right now." Mom said.

"What do you mean?" I asked, not understanding what she meant.

"Well, we did buy tickets to see the sports festival at the stadium."

"Really?!" Yuki jumped from my hands and asked.

"Yep. Now let your brother go to school. We'll see him at the festival." Dad told her.

After that I left for school, with a huge smile plastered on my face as I thought 'I definitely have to win this.'

Walking down the entrance of the school, I could see a lot of stalls that's here, just like a normal school festival in Japan. While walking I also saw lot's of heroes patrolling the campus.

As Aizawa sensei said, the management has made the security tighter than usual. Mt. Lady, Kamui Woods, and many new heroes were also present.

After looking around for a bit I went to the changing room and got changed into my P.E uniform and went to the Class A waiting area. As I was the first to reach there I just took a nap for the time being.

After some time someone tapped on my shoulder, when I opened my eyes, I saw Shoto and Fumikage standing in front of me. Seeing them I straightened myself and asked them "Are you guys ready for this? "

"Yeah. We have to. " Fumikage said while taking the seat opposite to me.

"Not really, but, since my family will be here I will have to do good." Shoto said while taking a seat beside me.

"Oh yeah. That's cool."

Shoto called my name "... Jōichirō."

"Yep?"

"I know that you're friends with my brother and my classmate, but I consider you as one of my rivals in the class."

"I know that Shoto. Is your father coming?"

"Yes."

"Then do your best and make them proud. Friendship is good, and I like that. But out there we will be rivals. I don't want to say enemies at all, so rivals are good." I said to Shoto, hearing what I said Fumikage chimed in "I'm also in the same opinion of Todoroki, even though we're friends, we still have to see each other as rivals in order to get better. So I would say don't try to hold back in the sports festival." With a small smile.

"What he said." Shoto said.

"So you guys don't consider me as a competition at all?" A female voice intruded in our conversation, looking to the side we saw Momo looking at us with mock hurt.

With a smile on my face I said "Not at all. Your quirk is the most versatile one when compared to our class. So you can put up a tough competition at some times and easy competition at a time."

"Well whatever." Saying that she sat down adjacent to us and we started to talk about what might be the events this time.

Toru, who arrived after Momo also sat near us and started to speak non stop, I can't blame her as that's the only way someone will know that she's here after all.

After half an hour all our class were inside the waiting room.

"Man, I wanted to wear my hero costume," Mina said, frustrated.

"To keep everything fair, we can't." Ojiro said to Mina.

"I wonder what the first round is gonna be." Sato asked.

"No matter what comes, we have no choice but to deal with it." Fumikage said that.

"Right" Mezo.

Suddenly the door opened and Iida spoke "Everyone are you ready? We'll be entering soon."

As he said that I stood up and walked forward, everyone looked at me thinking what I'll be doing, but to their dismay I just went out of the room.

Seeing that nothing happened, the rest of them followed suit and we walked towards the stadium. Even though I went first by the time we reached the open area I was at the back with Mezō, as I'm one inch higher than him. Shoto and Momo were at the front, Momo because she's the class president, Shoto to make sure his family saw him from the stands. As for my family, because I'm at last they will easily find me so there was nothing for me to do.

As we entered the open area Present Mic started to announce "Hey.!!! Pay attention, audience! Swarm, Mass media! This year's high school rodeo of adolescence that you all love, the U.A. sports festival is about to begin! Everybody, are you ready?!" As he said that, the audience started to cheer.

Walking at the back I observed the audience and spotted Touya so I waved at him. Seeing me waving he returned a wave with a smile on his face. After looking around more I spotted mom, dad and Yuki, they were seated four rows away from Fuyumi and her mother Rei. I also saw Endeavor in the stands, he does have the haughty look but compared to the one in anime this guy is tame.

Observing more, I saw some of the top heroes present in the stands, and I also spotted the big three with Mirio holding Eri's hand. Tamaki looked like he didn't want to be here, Nejire looked like she's hyped to be here, Eri was also looking amazed at the sheer number of people in the stadium and her eyes were sparkling in curiosity.
