Chapter 18: The Past - Touya Todoroki

How I met Touya and Fuyumi? Well for that we will have to look back into my past.

I met Touya when I was six years old and I was walking around the mountain that was near our old home. My parents did let me go unsupervised thanks to me being a good boy and knowing how to handle difficult situations.

Anyway, at that time I was walking around thinking how to utilize my quirk. Absorption, is my quirks name, they named it like that because I can absorb energies and redirect it. Well, that was the same superpower of Bishop from Marvel. He could absorb any kind of energy and redirect it efficiently. But I think that I'm a mix of Sebastian Shaw and Superman. Why did I include Superman? Well, I can absorb solar energy and it makes me stronger, not at the level of Superman but enough to destroy a building, I mean Superman can do more than that. As for Sebastian Shaw, I can absorb any energy and divert it in an efficient manner. And as far as I remember, Bishop had lower efficiency than Shaw. Thanks to that, I'm safe from energy based attacks.

So, walking around the mountain thinking about my quirk and how to use them, I saw a blue fire forming at the top of the mountain. I raised an eyebrow and went to check out. Even if the fire turns into a mountain fire, I'll be able to absorb it easily.

When I reached the top, I saw a kid who looked to be older than ten engulfed in blue flames screaming at the top of his lungs. I didn't think twice and went near him to absorb the blue flames that had engulfed the boy.

Right after I absorbed the flames, the boy lost consciousness and fell down. I looked to get a clear view of his face, but what I saw was only scorched skin and a thinly connected jaw. Closing his jaws slowly, I placed my hands on his jaw and one on his left side of his chest, right above the heart.

Then, I converted all the flame that I had absorbed into amplified bio-energy and applied that on him through my hands. As soon as the bio-energy was connected to him, he started to heal rapidly. I stopped right when his skin started to turn into ice, not understanding what was happening. Right after his skin turned into ice, blue flames engulfed him again. This time I didn't absorb it, seeing this event I thought 'This might be the quirk awakening. So how will my quirk awaken? Will it give me something new or will it be making me more powerful? Whatever, I'll see what happens when I cross that bridge.'

Couple of minutes later the blue flames subdued and the ice on his skin melted away and a boy with red hair that had white streaks was present. Within a second he opened his eyes and looked around in bewilderment, and he said "Did I die?"

Holding in my chuckle, I said "Yes you did."

Hearing my voice he turned towards me with a surprised look. And with a trembling voice he asked "So, I won't be able to see my family again?"

'Messing with kids is fun.' Thinking so, I said "That depends."

"Depends on what?"

"Depends why you were engulfed by blue flames."

He looked down to his hands and spoke while tears started to fall from his eyes "I.... wanted.... my... father... to.... acknowledge.... to.... look.... at... me... " He kept on sobbing and repeating the same thing.

From that and his blue flames I figured out his identity 'It's Dabi, no he's Touya now.'

Shaking my head, I patted his shoulder and said "Hey man, you're not dead okay."

Hearing that he froze, stopped crying and stiffly looked at me and asked "What?"

"You're not dead, I was just messing with you to get some laughs. But..." I didn't get to finish talking as his fist was connected to my jaw, but nothing happened and I heard him screaming "Bastard! What do you think you're doing?"

Looking him in the eye I said "I'm sorry okay, but you're punching a six year old in the jaw. So I'm asking, what do you think you're doing?"

When I said that he looked me up and down and looked at my jaw which was still connected by his fist and his eyes went wide in horror.

Taking his fist away he started to apologize to me, I also apologized to him for messing with him. After an intense apology section, we both laughed out loud and sat down on the ground. We introduced ourselves and he started to explain what he was doing here.

After his explanation, I asked him "Your father doesn't acknowledge you, I get it. But, don't you have three siblings and your mom? If you get hurt so badly won't they be sad?"

"Yeah they will." He said with his head lowered.

Tapping on my chin I asked him "Why don't you use your quirk now."

He looked at me puzzlingly, but he still used his quirk and to his surprise the blue flames formed over ice covered skin. He looked at it and shaked his head to make sure that he saw right and asked me "How?"

"I don't know, after I absorbed the flames and healed you, ice covered your skin and those blue flames formed over the ice."

Before finishing, he jumped towards me and held me in bear hug and kept on thanking me for what I did to him.

After he calmed down, I told him that it's time for me to go home and that we will meet if fate allows us to.

We did meet up at that peak for almost a year, because after one year my family moved from there, and this is the first time I'm seeing him after years.
