Lillie looked at the woman before and gave a taunting smile as she said, "Lydia, right?" that was the name she heard the guards call her earlier. "Seeing as you can't go beyond this door tells me that you can't throw me out," she said as her smile broadened. " I may not know who you are, but I know what you are, and trust me, I am not a fan." She said and looked Lydia dead in the eyes showing no sign of fear.
The other three people there were seriously taken aback by her words, did she know that they were not humans but shifters? But humans were not supposed to know, was that why Alex brought her back with him? He could have easily had her memories erased instead of bringing her with him. They thought.
They turned and looked at her at the same time with the same question in their eyes. Lillie knew what their unspoken question was but chose to ignore it. "I am thirsty, I need water, where can I get it?" She asked the guards.
Hearing her question, they realized that they have forgotten and orders from the king that they should inform the housekeeper that she was awake so they could bring food and water for her.
"Please wait inside, I will inform someone to get it for you." one of the guards said and Lillie nodded while he went ahead downstairs.
"Where do you think you are going? I am not done talking to you." Lydia said when she saw Lillie turning the doorknob to open it. She felt wronged being ignored by a weak human.
Lillie turned to her and slightly opened the door to see what the woman would do but besides folding her palms into fists which made her nails dig deep into the skin of her palms, she did nothing else.
'Listen, Lydia," Lillie said and closed the door again. "Last night was the worst moment of my life and you keep reminding me of it." she paused and looked at the woman for a second, "I hate reminders, but I will let this slide off this time because I assume that you know nothing about what I am talking about."
Lillie opened the door again and was about to go in when Lydia spoke again.
"I never thought that Alex will be sleeping with a teenage human girl, especially one like you." She said and smiled mockingly. "Tsk, tsk...tsk, what a shame it will be when he discards you," she said in an attempt to provoke Lillie into doing something that she could use against her.
Lillie smirked and turned to face her, with the smirk still on her face she said, "Looks like he has discarded you away, tsk, tsk...tsk, what a shame it is for you."
The guard standing behind her shook his head as he concluded, 'This girl has a sharp tongue'.
He was snapped back to reality when he felt the animosity and the killing intent that Lydia was directing toward Lillie, he was on high alert as he stepped forward and stood between the two women, shielding Lillie behind his back protecting her Lydia.
Lydia immediately saw red as soon as she heard what Lillie said. She felt like clawing her face and shoving those words right back in her throat. Her eyes turned dark, her claws and fangs came out, and she half-shifted and stared murderously at Lillie.
While the guard was trying his best to keep Lillie completely hidden behind his back, Lillie had a devil-may-care attitude to the entire situation.
While the guard was afraid of what will happen if she got hurt, Lillie was unfazed by the threat as she stood still and waited to see what this she-wolf had up in her sleeves. There was nothing that this shifter would do that she has never faced before. There was nothing that she would pull out of her sleeves that she has never seen before from those rogues and vampires. Getting away from her attacks will be a walk in the field for her.
But before Lydia could attack her, they heard a stern and firm voice from behind Lydia, ascending the stairs and she froze.
"What do you think you are doing?" the voice asked and the guard could not be any happier hearing that voice.
Lillie was surprised too but not at the voice but at Lydia's reaction to the voice.
'Damn it! What is she doing here? Shouldn't she be in the other realm?' Lydia asked herself inwardly. She retracted her claws and fangs, her fur also retracted into her body. She smiled and turned to the woman who was now standing only a few feet away from her.
"Priestess! What a surprise to see you here," she said smiling foolishly. "What brings you here, priestess?" she asked, trying to dodge the question she was asked.
"Alexander is here, so, why do you think I am here?" The woman asked, looking at Lydia as if she wanted to open her inside out.
"Ah...right, it slipped my memories. Welcome and please enjoy your stay." Lydia said and started walking forward towards the stairs. But before she could walk past the woman, she was stopped halfway.
"You did not answer my question, Lydia. What were you doing just now?" the woman asked again and walked forward and stood beside Lillie, giving her a gentle smile.
When Lydia saw that, she was fuming inside, she glared hard at Lillie as she looked at her with hatred.
"Cecile, I was wondering where you went. Why did you leave without telling me?" Lillie asked, totally ignoring Lydia and her glares.
"Let's talk later, okay? For now, please go inside, your food will be brought to you there." Cecile said politely. "Once I am done here I will join you and answer all your questions, okay?" Lillie nodded and went inside leaving the raging Lydia behind.
Once Lillie was gone, Cecile faced Lydia when she did not hear a reply from her. "Whatever you have in your mind, you should put it aside whenever she is concerned because it cost you, your life if you are not careful."
"Why are you defending her? She is a human who shouldn't be here, now you are defending her?" Lydia asked. She was annoyed seeing how this woman treated Lillie. She has tried all her life to get into this woman's good books but she was always rejected and ignored.
Now this human girl this up and she was already on her list of favourites, this was just not fair.
"All you need to know is that she is right where she should be." she heard Cecile's voice in between her thoughts.
"How does she belong..."
Before she could do her sentence, Cecile stopped her. "That is all for now, you will know more when Alex wants you all to know," she said and walked inside the room and leaving her and the guard standing there.
Lydia stomped out of the building with a silent vow to find out all the is to know about the girl in Alex's room and deal with her properly.
