"Grian! It's Grian! Please don't shoot me!" he openly begged, dropping to his knees a second before snot slowly began to drop down his nostrils even as he fixed his gaze on the floor expecting a bullet to tear through his head.
He knew the contract he signed meant he could die at any moment but at the same time, he hadn't expected the moment to suddenly come when he least expected it.
"Please! SPARE ME!" he begged.
Violet watched, eyes blazing with both anger and fear as she heard the young man's screams echo through the hall.
A small hope had just blossomed deep in her heart that somehow Grian would survive when she watched Lord Cain raise his hand and shoot two bullets straight into his skull before she could comprehend what was happening.
Again, the atmosphere was extremely silent as no one had the guts to speak, and even Violet found it difficult to breathe as she looked at the round and the blood-soaked ground
But her gaze was still fixed on the bodies in front of her when she heard the officiator's voice boom across the hall in an authoritative manner.
"Step forward and introduce yourself! Failure is immediate disqualification!" His deep voice resonated in everyone's ears.
For a split second, no one moved but finally people did, gritting their teeth and balling their fists together as they gingerly stepped forward.
"My name is Brut–"
"My name is Kali-"
"My name is Rusha-"
Introducing themselves one after the other, as they stepped forward but what was more surprising was when they all survived, ordered to step to the left just like the first person who survived.
Each of them making sure to lower their presence as much as possible just in case Lord Cain suddenly decided to change his mind.
Violet watched in amazement as one after the other people hurriedly stepped forward faster than before, while Lord Cain's mood was still elevated enough to ensure their survival.
'Should I also step forward! I need to!' Violet decided shuffling forward behind the older man who had held her back.
Sweat pouring down her face as she hurriedly wiped it off constantly as more replaced it. Violet trembled in fear the more the line she stood in dwindled, her legs spasming every time a shot rang out to show that another person had dropped dead.
'You can do this! You can do this Violet' she internally mumbled to herself confident that once she got through this then she would be able to survive as long as she avoided the lunatic.
'There's no reason! He's just killing us for fun!' her gaze raising up to fix on the cold and bland expression Lord Cain had on his face as he listened to the man in front of him speak before he raised the gun in his hand and pulled the trigger.
Violet lowering her gaze a second before she had to witness the murder happen.
'Keep calm! Introduce yourself properly!' she again muttered under her breath her hands trembling even more than before as she stepped forward second in line, about two feet away from him watching the older man in front of her slowly begin to speak.
"My name is Hera—" He began only for a loud booming sound to ring out one that made Violet freeze her eyes squeezing shut as she realized what had happened, feeling slimy specks n her face, which she was convinced was blood and some bits of brain matter.
Tears filled her eyes and obstructed her vision as she opened her eyes, her body mechanically stepping forward knowing that remaining silent and begging would only result in a faster death.
Taking in a heavy breath Violet began to speak intent on rushing through the words she had to say, even if it was the last words she ever opened her mouth to speak.
"My name is Vio-Viole!" she said hearing her deep masculine voice full the air, even as she realized the mistake she made a second after she had made it unable to backtrack and fix it.
'Just go with it! Go with it Violet!'
"I'm an Orphan and I was born in the lower-section of the city!" her eyes widening at the fact that she was still alive even as she spoke, her eyes fixed on the huge chest in front of her not daring to raise her gaze and meet his sight.
"I would like to serve you because you're the-the-the—strongest and-and " her mouth unable to help but stutter as she caught the movement of his gun hand from her left side, one that made her almost completely dissolve into a puddle of tears and plead for mercy.
Just like the others before her whose main reason had been because he was a kind and good district Lord he was the strongest man in the district, Violet's intention had been to say the exact same thing until she saw a gun being raised right to her head.
"You-you are the most—" trying to find something honest she could say knowing that anything good would simply be a complete lie.
"—the most Good-looking man I've ever seen!" Violet said lowering her head even as she felt the gun placed just before her forehead follow her with precision.
Her body trembling as she realized that she might have made an even greater mistake than getting her name wrong.
Unable to think of what else to do, Violet balled her fists and raised her head wanting to look into the eyes of her killer if she was to become a corpse.
Completely taken aback when she met dark golden eyes that seemed to stare right into her soul. Fingers that looked like the bad been carved by God himself, as she watched his finger slowly pull the trigger, staring into inhuman eyes.
'If this is to be my last breath, then I refuse to beg for it!' tears flooding her vision afresh as her vision twirled as she counted down the seconds.
A loud booming sound rang out and Violet felt her body tremble in response, her head slowly growing dizzy even as she marveled at how painless death was just before she dropped to the ground.
