Taken as a child for a project that required the best genes that only a handful of people had, he was put through vigorous training in preparation for his operation which he underwent at the young age of 13, but due to an unseen amount of cosmic radiation, he managed to survive and acquire the benefits of the program with a little extra on the side. But due to the excess radiation, an accident occurred destroying the lab and everyone in it, except for John and an experimental armour. Now free he has to make a life for himself and try to live a normal life, but how is someone like him supposed to do that, and who's this Happy guy and why is he offering me to apprentice under him? Being a bodyguard, you say. Well, that should work.

Spartan Neural Interface - In addition to the standard functions of a Neural Interface, the Spartan Neural Interface is unique in that it is designed to allow an AI to directly interface with the Spartan's brain. Therefore, the AI is said to reside both inside the armor and inside the wearer's mind. Essentially, it is in both places at once. The interface allows the AI access to most of the suit's internal systems, though the Spartan has override control. The AI is capable of significantly improving the data transfer rate between the motor cortex of the Spartan and the MJOLNIR's processing unit, further improving the Spartan's already lightning-quick reaction time.

The AI Data Crystal Chip is inserted into a socket near the base of the Spartan's skull in the Mjolnir Armor.

Super Soldier Serum ((SSS)Weakened) - A weakened version of the SSS that was mainly designed to make sure that the augmentations fused with the subject correctly while also enhancing the benefits of the procedures. This is where he was exposed to immense amounts of cosmic radiation in an attempt to mimic Erskine's Vita Rays, though they ended up exposing him to a lot more than they expected leading to unforeseen results.

Self-Sustenance - Due to the excess cosmic radiation, John's body is now constantly sustaining itself with the cosmic radiation that is present everywhere. This however does not give him any physical boosts on top of his enhanced body from the augmentations and SSS, just keeping him from needing to eat, drink and breathe.

John will still age normally though a lot slower due to his augmentations and SSS, being able to live till the age of 180 or possibly longer. This will not change. He does not strive for more power or want to prolong his life, he just wants to live to his fullest doing the things he thinks are right.
