Marvel: Adaptive Freak

[Congratulations!] [You have gained the F-rank Evolution "Tech Veil"] [You have gained the C-rank Evolution "Gravity Manipulation"] [You have gained the S-rank ability "Mind's Resonance"] In a matter of hours, Isaac's perfect vision of games and junk food he planned for his summer holiday had crumbled. He now had to figure out how to deal with his new abilities and carry out the mission he had no choice but to attempt. And most likely die trying. Yet, according to Isaac, that doesn't seem to be the worst part... "Great. Me, the son of Nick Fury, has a mass murderer in my head." Isaac sighed. "Trust me kid, I don't want to be here either." Said the voice.

The Voice

A/N: I will be changing from first person to third person.

A loud bang was heard as the sound reverberated between the tall walls of the alleyway.

'Is this it? Am I dead?'

Isaac slowly opened his eyes and peeked, only to see the same scene of the skull-masked villain standing before him, checking to see if his gun was working properly.

'Did he not shoot me? Then what was the bang earlier?'

Isaac looked down at his abdomen as his fingers naturally caressed his stomach, finding no wounds, only a small metal object that looked as if it had been crushed by the heaviest and hardest material on earth.

"What are you waiting for?"

As the villain and Isaac stared at the piece of metal in the downed boy's hand, confused and refusing to accept what had most likely happened, despite it being impossible, Isaac heard a voice. He looked around, finding no one but his killer.

It was the voice of a male, but there was something else. An echo of sorts that followed his words, as if there was a hint of artificiality hidden among it.

"Don't think, just act. This is your chance." Said the voice once again.

Isaac slowly looked at the assassin before him, gritting his teeth and summoning the last drop of strength he had, despite his muscles screaming in agony. He leapt from his seated position, pulling back his hand and launching it straight to the man's face.

"Crap." Said Taskmaster in annoyance after being distracted by what had just happened. Despite Isaac catching him off guard, it was clear in the man's stance and body language he was not threatened. After all, it was proven there wasn't anything Isaac could do that would threaten the man.

'I commend your grit, kid.' He thought as he too raised his palm, preparing to catch the punch and counter.

"I'm surprised you can…" Before the man could finish, Isaac's fist made contact with his hand.

To the surprise of both fighters, Taskmaster's strength proved to be insufficient.

Isaac drove his fist into the palm, instantly pushing it back, smashing Taskmaster's own hand into his face.

Isaac let out a feral howl as the sheer force of the attack was enough to crack the assassin's mask upon impact.

Isaac pushed his fist forward, dropping the man to the ground as the ground below him cracked and his hand was visibly mangled and broken.

After a few seconds, Isaac stood over the unconscious Taskmaster, breathing heavily as he dropped to the ground, onto his buttocks as the ground cracked beneath him.

Before he could question that, he heard a familiar voice.

"Isaac!" A voice came from the entrance to the alleyway.

Isaac turned his head and smiled after seeing a man with an eye patch and bald head, wearing a trenchcoat and holding a pistol, behind countless regular police officers.

Usually, it would raise questions if Fury was seen among NYPD officers helping a random kid, however, all it took was a bogus FBI ID and a fabricated reason for him being there to fool them. It's not like they knew who he was to tell he was lying.

"Geez, what took you so long, old man," Isaac said defeatedly, finally letting out a peaceful sigh.

Fury stared at his son, speechless with his usual stoic face, not sure what to make of the situation. His son bloodied and bruised, Taskmaster on the ground, unmoving with his mask cracked as well as the ground below him. There were too many questions he had. However, he was certain of one thing. The rage he was feeling.

Before he could say anything, he looked at his son's exhausted face, near-closed eyes and heavy breaths and put a pause on any questions he had.

"Let's get you to the hospital, son." He said, ruffling Isaacs's hair and helping him get up, a hint of empathy peering through his default mode.

'Yup, that's my father. A man with many great qualities and strengths, but his ability to show affection is horrible.' Isaac thought with a laugh. Despite this, Isaac knew his father well. That small action was like a heartful hug between them.

"Damn, how heavy are you?"

***

Isaac was currently in a hospital bathroom, wearing his hospital gown, standing before the toilet as he stared at it with a struggling face.

'All I wanna do is take a dump! Is that so much to ask?!' He yelled inwardly. Ever since the alleyway incident, he's been breaking anything he puts his body weight on.

Beds, chairs and even cars were barely functioning. Hell, if he sat down on the ground too hard he'd break the concrete.

He had been in the bathroom for almost half an hour, trying his best to figure out what to do, countless bandages wrapped around him as he tested the weight of his arm on the sink. The sink creaked, small cracks forming as if it were yelling in pain, threatening to break down at any minute.

'I can't catch a break today.' Isaac sighed, leaving the bathroom.

"You were in there for a while. Is everything ok?" A voice came from inside Isaac's room, beside his hospital bed.

As he looked up, he noticed his father wearing his usual attire and a female with red hair, exuding a sophisticated aura. She wore a sleek black bodysuit, a belt around her waist depicting a red hourglass, as well as compact devices on her forearms.

"Did you guys just waltz in here?" Asks Isaac as his father stares at him.

"Boy, how many goddamn times have I told you to go straight home after school?" Began his father.

"I did! Hell, I wanted to go home. I was looking forward to a free day." Said Isaac, defending himself.

"Then why did I get a call from your principal who says he permanently looks like a smurf." Fury used an alias as Isaac's father so that the boy didn't have trouble in regular day life.

"Really, permanent? Ha, I wasn't sure if the paint was the easily removable kind or not. And in my defence Dad, that guy deserved it." Said Isaac, to which Fury gave him a death stare.

Isaac darted his eyes toward the female as he smiled, instantly forgetting the weight trouble and the angry one eyed man that were troubling him.

"Greetings Ms Romanoff. I don't suppose I can get a hearty hug. I mean, just look at me. I think I deserve it." Isaac proposed to the only other person in the world who knew who he was.

"Absolutely not." She said in her usual monotone voice. Just because Isaac adored her and he was her boss's son, didn't mean she treated him differently.

"Isaac, tell me what happened." Said his father, ignoring his mischievous antics. Isaac thought for a few seconds. Should he tell the old man about everything? Including the voice and the weird screen? And the fact that he weighed a couple of thousand pounds?

"Um… well, the road was blocked on my way home and so I decided to take a shortcut that led to a dead end. I tried to leave but this weirdo blocked me in and kicked the crap out of me." He explained.

He didn't decide whether or not to tell his father the full story, however, he found himself unintentionally hiding the full truth for some reason.

"Is that all?" Fury peered at him with a raised eyebrow. Isaac was currently standing before two spies who could tell if he was lying from the smallest details. But what was he supposed to do, tell them he hears voices and can withstand a bullet?

"What about the…weirdo? How did he end up unconscious?" Asked Natasha, to which Isaac replied with his best poker face.

"Well, he underestimated me and I was able to land a sneaky blow. I was lucky." He said simply, to which Fury and Natasha looked at each other.

"Alright, try to get some sleep. Stop standing around like a crazy person." Said Fury as he put on his hat, walking out of the room with his partner.

"Hey, dad…"

"No, I won't bring you your laptop or phone. Get some rest." Said Fury, refusing Isaac before he could even finish his sentence.

"Landing a sneaky blow on Taskmaster? That's no easy feat, sir." Says Natasha as they leave the room.

"Indeed it isn't. But what other explanation do you have?" He asks, to which she stays silent.

"What about the cracked concrete?" She asks.

"I know what you're thinking, Romanoff. But the answer is no, my son does not have superpowers. That alley is old, dirty and a cesspool for crazy people and crackheads. Anything could have caused those cracks." Says Fury. Usually, he would professionally approach this and keep all options open. However, he knew his son.

"Understood sir." Said Natasha after a few seconds, ending the conversation.

As they left, Isaac was left in the middle of the room, staring at his bed and remembering the weight trouble he was having.

"No need to look so down. Not being able to sleep on a bed ever again in return for your life seems like a pretty good trade." A voice said.

Isaac once again heard the male voice in his head, speaking as if it were reading his mind. He looked around, even peeking out of the window and checking under his bed, trying his best to rule out the possibility of his former prank victims getting back at him.

"Um…hello?" Said Isaac, looking around the room after finding nothing.

"What are you looking around for? Have you still not figured out I'm inside your head?" Asked the voice. Isaac was starting to notice the voice was coming from his head, as he could practically feel the man slap his head at Isaac's idiocy.

Despite Isaac not knowing if the voice belonged to a human or not, its sarcastic tone definitely made Isaac less worried about an alien invading his mind.

"Who are you? And how are you inside my head? Are you the one responsible for what's happening to my body?" Isaac asked, to which the voice sighed.

"I will tell you, but you have to promise to hear me out first."

Isaac's anxiety grew by the second as he nodded his head. And somehow, the voice was able to tell that he did.

"My name is Armando Muñoz."

After the voice said this, both it and Isaac became quiet. Isaac's heart started to quicken as a nervous chuckle broke the cold silence between them.

"Hey, haha…you wouldn't happen to be THE Armando Muñoz? I mean, that's impossible." Isaac asked with a chuckle.

"Yes, I am."

Isaac fell silent as he continued to smile. With the amount of crazy things happening today, Isaac had no trouble believing the voice's words. His face slowly changed from a nervous smile to a horrified expression.

"Armando Muñoz, the greatest villain in all of history, also known as Darwin. You're supposed to be dead." Isaac said as he slowly pointed his finger in mid-air.

"SO WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN MY HEAD?!"
