---Lucas POV---
Lucas wasn't getting anymore customers for the day since it was four o'clock and no one else had come by except for Olivia, all she did after eating was talk his ear off and try to get back into his lap so she could continue to play with Zulu. Now that it was closed she asked him to walk her back home and since he hasn't seen the city yet he thought why not. After closing the store they walked down the street with her holding his hand skipping along happily many people looked over at the two gaping at the fact the third princess was being nice to anyone. Lucas noticed the wide birth that they got when they started walking down the street he could only marvel at the amount of fear people had because of this little girl, but he soon got over it and was taking in the city. The buildings were made out of wood except for the ones that looked more upper class that were made from brick or some stone.
They passed by a restaurant that had a long line in front of it people were smiling and chatting happily about something, Olivia looked over at the restaurant but her face didn't grow into a smile instead she frowned, "That place doesn't even smell half as good as the food you cook, Luke." After spending the day together she was close enough to him that he allowed her to call him Luke. Lucas didn't have an opinion but that didn't mean that some of the people didn't hear what she had said looking over at her giving her a mean look.
"What do you know little girl this is the best restaurant in the city a kid like you couldn't even afford this place." a man wearing extravagant robes said with a scowl towards Olivia who turned it right back on it to him, Lucas was finding it real hard not to smile at how cute she looked.
"Humph, that's because you haven't tasted Chef Lucas dishes so of course you have no sense of fine taste." She shot back, the people around him couldn't help but laugh that he was getting told off by a little girl.
While that was going on Lucas was trying to figure out how he got dragged into it but he kept his mouth shut he couldn't be bothered by these people, "Oh well then why doesn't he make me something right now then and I will see how great he is." The man sneered hating that his friends were laughing at him.
"He could conquer your taste buds in a second," Olivia said looking over to Lucas hoping he would put this guy in his place.
Lucas saw her look and decided to help out a little he couldn't open the store again but this way he could get another customer, "I can do it tomorrow, tonight I have to get her home and my store is closed but it is called Lucas Cooking it is down the street and around the corner. It opens at eight a.m be there then and I will show you." He didn't bother saying anything else and he didn't want to hear the reply of the guy so he pulled Olivia along who stuck her tongue out at the man who was still standing in line but the could hear his shouts.
"I will be there first thing in the morning me and my friends you better be ready to eat your words." He shouted while they just kept walking.
Lucas looked down at the little troublemaker who just gave him business plus made it where he has to put his cooking skills to the test not that he was worried in the slightest, "You are a little troublemaker you know that." He said speaking his thoughts aloud to her squeezing her hand a little.
"Hehe but you still like me." she said with a giggle twirling with his hand holding her, she found it comforting being around him it wasn't just his food it was also his mannerism that made him really likeable.
Lucas could only shake his head while walking along with her she was now the one leading the way since he had no clue where the castle was, after awhile they made it to the front gates but they didn't move further since there were guards everywhere. Two carriages were sitting in front of the gates, they were grand with many people guarding them on all sides, one was green and silver with pigs head embroider on it while the other was red and black with a falcon. At the top of the stairs standing in front of the castle doors were four people three women and a man who were watching the carriages intently, one woman had a disgust look on her face while looking down while the other was smiling brightly.
He couldn't take his eyes away from the one with a disgusted look though because even with her face all scrunched up she was still beautiful, she had pink hair that was darker than Olivia's but lighter than the other girls. Her eyes were dark green like the mans but she had all the beauty of who he assumed was her mother, in the black dress she was wearing just made her stand out even more with her light complex and he found it hard to look away. Drawing his eyes back he figured it was time for him to leave since it seem something big was going on, "Well it looks like something is going on and this is the closest I want to be to the castle anyway so this is where we part."
Olivia was a little sad he wasn't coming up to meet her family she really wanted him to but he was not having it, "Okay Luke, well I will be there first thing in the morning so I can see that middle aged man eat his words." Before turning to leave she quickly turned around hugging him before skipping off to be with her family.
Lucas made sure she got to he family before turning to leave he could feel eyes on him assuming that she had pointed him out but he didn't turn back and just kept following the street back to his house. On his way there he stopped when he saw a little girl with silver hair holding a basket full of flowers, her clothes were in tatters that had a lot of patch work in them but it wasn't only thing that brought his attention to her. Walking over to her she spoke in a soft voice backing away a little when he got close, "W-would you….. W-would you l-like to buy s-s-some flowers?" it wasn't a stutter she was just so nervous from having to sell flowers to strangers. Lucas smiled a little to ease her worry, in his past life he was big on donating to charities and orphanages ever since he was kicked out he consider himself like them until he met Sammy.
"What's your name?" he asked kneeling down in front of her.
"B-beth." she whispered looking at him through her lashes.
"Well Miss. Beth, I would like to buy all of your flowers please." he took out thirty Rips since she was only selling them for half a rip each and there were only ten in the basket.
"Umm this is to much… I don't have any change." she said her eyes going wide at the amount that he was giving her.
Lucas just shrugged while standing up giving her a smile, "Well I think these flowers are really pretty so you can keep the change. By the way do you sell these all the time?" he asked curiously. He didn't want to come off as some creep but she was just to adorable with her chubby cheeks and big cartoon like eyes that were kind of sad he had a natural instinct to protect her.
"Yes, I collect them from the orphanages flower garden to help gain money so we can all attend school for the new year." she said her words got stronger and clearer as she talked to him more and more.
He nodded his head, "Well then if you have anymore to sell tomorrow the come by y restaurant, it's called 'Lucas Cooking!' I need more pretty flowers to brighten up my place so please bring them to me once you get them okay?"
Beth was shocked she has been selling flowers here since she turned five two months ago and since then she hasn't been very successful at selling any of them off to people, nodding her head. Lucas was satisfied with it and offered to take her back to the orphanage but she declined saying she could make it on her own, he watched he walk off into the distance before continuing on his was to the shop and true to his word he found and empty vase and put the roses he bought from her in the window sill. He put them in water from the spring provided by the system which would keep them alive for years since the water was the pure of mana essence and untouched by man he even used a canteen so he wouldn't touch the water.
----------------------
The next morning he woke up before eight o'clock and made a meal for Zulu before working on his cutting techniques to stop seeing the blinding sign that said rookie on it, after practicing for two hours he was sweaty but was still 5% away from moving up. After a quick shower he came downstairs to open for the day and was greeted by Olivia who pinched his side complaining about making her wait but she wasn't alone behind her stood a guard who didn't speak but watched over everything that was happening outside. After calming her down and apologizing more than three times she finally settled down, "Give me a burger with fries." she announced moving to the same stool she was in yesterday.
"Sorry but that is only for lunch and dinner, but you can order the Pancakes and since you are still a kid I will also let you order a Lemonade." Lucas said smiling at her and ruffling her hair. She could only agree and paid the $30 Rips and sat down staring at Zulu on his head.
---Third Person POV---
Three people moved towards Lucas store before stopping outside of it and gulping down their saliva at the scent wafting out of the restaurant as they got closer to it, they then looked at each other before stepping in taking a look around. At the counter they saw Olivia inhaling the pancakes singing praises to the man who was sitting next to her who was looking at her like a proud father, after rubbing her head he looked over at them. "Looks like you guys are here to eat your words huh?" Lucas said causing Olivia to look over with her cheeks stuffed like a chipmunks making even the guys who walked in think she is cute.
"Yeah so give us three burgers and fries and each a root beer." the front man said looking over the menu after sitting with his friends.
"Sorry it's not lunch time I am only sell the breakfast options until then." Lucas said standing above them, they were obviously wealthy since they didn't complain about the price of it. He didn't really want to spend much time on them so he just turned to leave after hearing their orders. In the kitchen after whipping up the batter for the pancakes he made one with chocolate, one with blueberries, and the last with banana, before making syrup with cinnamon letting it drizzle on the two with banana and blueberries while the last got regular syrup. After he was done he carried them out to the table leaving behind fresh coffee too that they also ordered, he was hoping he would break out of rookie status but after asking the system all he got was.
"Sorry host but you need to at least complete the first mission in order to break out from being a rookie," the sweet voice said he was actually getting annoyed with it since it was so sweet but kept denying him things.
When he walked from the table the three men slowly ate the food each having different reactions than the last until the one who accepted the challenge finally spoke out, "This is amazing this chocolate melts in my mouth and it taste incredible with the coffee that is smooth and rich."
"Zane this is better than the 'Red Fireball' that we went to last night and this is only one plate of breakfast food." another man said looking at the challenger who is now known as Zane. They all nodded their heads before calling out for more food from Lucas who just went to make it leaving Olivia alone again, twenty minutes later it was all brought out and the scarfed them down again while Lucas was busy wiping Olivia's mouth who had gotten syrup all over herself.
The guard at the door was watching everything happen and even he was having a hard time trying to resist the smell of the food he was even more surprised about how Lucas was wiping Olivia's face. She hadn't let her own parents do that to her since she was five but she was letting a man she just met yesterday treat he like a kid even though she insisted that now that she was eleven she was a woman. Taken back he would absolutely report this to the king when he got back later it was one of the main reasons he was to come with her because the king and his family was interested in this place that the princess couldn't stop praising last night. Gulping he watched he climb into his lap and start playing with an owl that he hadn't even seen on the mans head a minutes ago.
