Did Lu Chenjun really not receive the message?

"Did you delete it?" Elena asked him. A text message can't just disappear by itself.

"Why would I delete it? If I had known, I would have definitely come back to eat with you." Elena could tell that Lu Chenjun wasn't lying. His gaze didn't hover and his words were certain with no sign of hesitation.

She frowned and looked down. Did it really matter?

"Whatever, I believe you. The message probably didn't go through."

Lu Chenjun let out a sigh of relief but quickly tensed up again, "I made dinner to make up for yesterday."

"I ate already."

Lu Chenjun grabbed onto Elena's arm with both hands and looked up at her with a pout. Elena was standing a few stairs higher than him, and the angle at which she was looking at his face was undeniably perfect.

Lu Chenjun's current behavior almost melted Elena's heart. His eyes were pleading just like a child asking for candy, and his cheeks expanded slightly from his pout, making him look cute and sexy.

Elena clamped her lips together tightly and stared at Lu Chenjun. It was impossible not to fall for someone like this.

"Eat with me." Lu Chenjun pleaded, breaking Elena out of her trance.

She immediately looked away as a blush spread across her cheeks. Elena nodded, her gaze wandering over his face. Lu Chenjun's smile caused warmth to immediately shoot up her ears, which joined her cheeks in turning red.

'Is this what love feels like?' A smile crept up Elena's small face as Lu Chenjun led her down the staircase. Elena was still angry at Lu Chenjun, but it failed to show.

On the dining table, two large plates and two glasses of wine were set up. The side dishes Auntie Qin made looked very similar to the ones Elena had cooked yesterday, but the steak. . .

Let's just say the color was one shade darker.

Lu Chenjun sat down after helping Elena with her chair and watched as she glanced at the steak suspiciously.

"Don't worry. This steak should be perfect, as I had experience from cooking five steaks right before this one."

Elena raised one eyebrow. How could one still burn a steak after five attempts?

However, after seeing the anticipation and excitement on Lu Chenjun's face, she decided that food poisoning was of secondary importance.

Elena picked up her knife and fork and cut off a small piece. She took a deep breath and stuffed it into her mouth.

As the taste began to register in her mouth, she began chewing slower. Finally, she swallowed the piece of meat down and grabbed the glass filled with wine. In one go, she drank all of the contents in the glass.

"How is it?"

Elena licked her lips and put on the best smile she could.

"It's not bad, try it."

Lu Chenjun cut off a huge chunk of meat and stuffed it into his mouth. The spark in his eyes disappeared as he grabbed a napkin and spit out everything he just put into his mouth.

Elena looked down, trying to suppress her laughter. She ate a brussel sprout, which didn't taste bitter and overly crispy like the steak.

Lu Chenjun awkwardly smiled and said, "The burning really adds depth to the flavor, doesn't it?"

Both Elena and Lu Chenjun ended up throwing the steak away, although Lu Chenjun was reluctant to do so as he had spent so many hours on this small piece of meat.

They went to bed early that day, and it seemed like it had been forever since they last slept comfortably with each other.

Lu Chenjun hugged Elena tightly as if he was afraid that she would run away during the night. He took deep breaths, taking in her wonderful natural scent. Before long, they both fell asleep.

The next morning, Elena was able to get in a little more sleep. She woke up at 9:30 as she had her first scene at 11 o'clock.

As expected, Lu Chenjun was already gone, but the pillow next to her still lightly emitted the smell of his shampoo, and the bedsheet was still warm from his body heat.

Elena felt like a young girl that had fallen into the vortex of love. Every little thing could make her giggle uncontrollably, and every little thing could make her whole day turn gloomy.

She happily hugged the pillow Lu Chenjun rested his head on as if she was hugging him. A second alarm coming from her phone warned Elena that it was time to get moving.

She widened her eyes at the thought of what she was just doing, 'What is wrong with me? I am literally acting like someone in love.'

She stopped the alarm and quickly entered the bathroom.

She knew that her heart was already gone, but she didn't want to admit that she had put herself into a vulnerable position where she could easily get hurt.

Lu Chenjun had left another note for her on the mirror.

'Good morning. I left for work early since I have a meeting, but Fang Shi will take you to your filming location today. Work hard :)'

This little thing made Elena giggle and immediately made her day better. She happily did her makeup and skipped downstairs for breakfast.

Auntie Qin noticed how happy Elena was, and she assumed that Lu Chenjun's plan yesterday had worked.

Although she was happy for them, seeing Elena in love caused Auntie Qin to feel regret for not loving someone when she was young.

Elena closed the door and walked down the steps in the front yard quickly. Fang Shi was waiting for her outside the car, and Elena hopped into the passenger seat.

The last few weeks of filming all took place in the warehouse, so Fang Shi was familiar with the route already.

In the car, Elena debated several times in her head about asking Fang Shi about the girl. Finally, she decided to open her mouth.

"Assistant Fang, how long have you been working with Lu Chenjun?"

At this question, Fang Shi lifted his head up proudly.

"Almost five years."

"Then, do you know about the girl that Lu Chenjun ate with on 5/20?"
