'When did Zhang Bing get so close with Jin Yinghui?'
After Elena finished filming the rest of her scenes, she walked out of the warehouse with Mila. After saying goodbye, she entered her car and drove away.
When she arrived at the front gate of the Jinlu Complex, it was already 7:30 P.M. She ate dinner at the set, as Zhang Bing bought take-out for everyone, including the production crew members.
Once she entered the house, the smell of food reached her nose. However, this smell was different from other days. It didn't seem like the cooking of Auntie Qin.
Elena dropped her bag and walked towards the dining room. Her eyes landed on the food that was placed on the kitchen table.
There were two plates of slightly-burnt steak and two glasses of red wine. Elena frowned at the scene. It was so familiar, it looked almost like the dining room yesterday.
Elena quickly broke out of her trance when she heard a cough coming from the direction of the kitchen. She lifted her head and saw Lu Chenjun leaning against the wall with an apron on.
She lifted one eyebrow at the peculiar sight. The CEO of the LIQuan Company, the most powerful man in the nation was standing outside the kitchen with a pink apron on and a look of mild irritation on his face.
Elena smiled, and Lu Chenjun slowly walked over seeing that her expression had softened. However, Elena instantaneously remembered the unpleasant memory from yesterday and her expression returned back to being sour.
Lu Chenjun's next action surprised Elena. He grabbed her waist and said, "I'm sorry about yesterday. I didn't know that you prepared something for me."

Lu Chenjun purposefully finished all of his work early so he could return home earlier than Elena.
After locking the front door, Lu Chenjun quickly made his way over to Auntie Qin's room and knocked twice.
Without waiting for a reply, he forcefully pushed the door open and saw Auntie Qin sitting on her bed.
"Sorry for disturbing you, Auntie Qin. I have something to ask you about yesterday."
Auntie Qin could roughly guess what Lu Chenjun was talking about, and she welcomed Lu Chenjun to sit beside her on her bed.
"I'm guessing that you are asking about why Yinghui was mad yesterday, right?"
Lu Chenjun was taken aback at Auntie Qin's affectionate tone at the mention of Elena, and he nodded gravely.
"I know that I'm not really in the position to question you, but I want to be clear of one thing. Where were you yesterday?"
Lu Chenjun knit his eyebrows together tightly and replied, "I went to work in the morning. At night, I went to go eat with someone."
Auntie Qin continued without any hesitation, "Who is this someone?"
In the three years that Auntie Qin had worked here, she had never talked to Lu Chenjun like this. However, Lu Chenjun didn't ponder about this too much, and he replied truthfully.
"She is my childhood friend, and she just came back from France. She was also my first girlfriend. I ate with her."
Auntie Qin sighed before finally answering Lu Chenjun's original question.
"Yesterday, Yinghui came home really early and worked very hard to make dinner for you. I could tell that she was excited. She waited for you until very late at night, and she called you several times. However, you never replied. You know, although I never married, I do know a lot of things about girls. They hate it when the person that they care about ignores them or doesn't seem to care about them."
Lu Chenjun frowned and looked down. He never received any calls or even any messages.
"Thank you, Auntie Qin."
Lu Chenjun stood up to leave but stopped in his tracks at Auntie Qin's question.
"What are you going to do?"
He thought for a moment, "What do you suggest I do?"
After that, Lu Chenjun put on an apron for the first time in his life and cooked two not-so-pretty steaks under the guidance of Auntie Qin.
His mood got worse and worse as he first accidentally cut his finger with a sharp knife, then mistook salt for sugar, and finally burnt his supposed-to-be medium-rare steak.
After multiple failed attempts, Lu Chenjun was finally able to make a passing steak. Seeing that Lu Chenjun was short on time, Auntie Qin helped him make the sides.
Right after Lu Chenjun finished putting the plates onto the table, he heard the door click open.
He retreated back into the kitchen and waited for Elena to show up in the dining room.
Although he hadn't received confirmation from Elena yet, Lu Chenjun's heart still filled with pride at the sight of his accomplishments.
When he was young, his parents cooked the meals while he focused on his studies. As he got older and began to build his company, he ordered take-out or ate instant noodles almost every day.
After he succeeded as an entrepreneur, he didn't need to cook himself, so he hadn't entered the kitchen in a very long time.
Love really can change a person. Well. . . was this love?
He watched as Elena froze at the sight of the dining table, and he stepped forward, leaning against the wall.
After she noticed him, Elena lifted one eyebrow before her face broke gently into a smile. Seeing her expression brighten up, Lu Chenjun moved closer to her.
He held Elena's waist and said, "I'm sorry about yesterday. I didn't know that you prepared something for me."
Elena squeezed her eyes together in confusion and asked, "How do you know?"
Her tone was cold and she didn't seem to be touched by Lu Chenjun's hard work.
"I asked Auntie Qin and she told me."
Elena sighed and took a step back, freeing herself from Lu Chenjun's hands, "Thank you for the meal, but I ate dinner already."
She turned around to leave and Lu Chenjun immediately began to panic. He hadn't felt this sense of fear for a long time, and he froze for a second, not knowing what to do.
The sound of Elena's footsteps going up the stairs broke him out of his stupor, and he quickly ran after her.
"Wait!" Elena stopped and turned around. She watched as Lu Chenjun climbed up the stairs two at a time, and a shade of annoyance passed over her face. Why did he always act so sorry after the harm was done?
"I know that I made a mistake yesterday, but you never told me to come back. How do you expect me to know?"
Elena almost burst out laughing. You would expect that the most eligible bachelor in the nation would be better at lying.
He really was not boyfriend material. In fact, he was the complete opposite. Transferring the blame to someone else may be a decent strategy in the business world, but was definitely not useful when trying to coax a woman.
"You really suck, Lu Chenjun."
Lu Chenjun flinched at this comment. This woman had the capacity in her to tell him that he sucked. This was unbelievable!
Before he could counter, Elena spoke again, "I sent you a message and called you several times. You're saying that I didn't tell you?"
Lu Chenjun frowned. He never received any messages or calls. Could it have been after his phone died? But the message would have still gone through.
"When did you send the message and when did you call?"
Elena scoffed, "I sent the message right after lunchtime, and I called you twice at night."
"My phone battery died at night, but I don't know why I didn't receive the message."
Elena held out one hand and placed the other hand onto her waist. Lu Chenjun obediently handed his phone over as Elena glared at him. This scene looked like when a little kid got their phone or their toy taken away by their parents.
Elena scrolled through his messages, but the message she sent yesterday was nowhere to be seen.
Did Lu Chenjun really not receive the message?
Our male lead Lu Chenjun really doesn't know how to coax and comfort a girl, does he? *shakes head*
However, don't worry :) He will get better as the story progresses.
I believe in you, Chenjun!
