A chance

Magnus and Selena gaze into each other's eyes. Selena could not move and is speechless. While Magnus is staring at her and down into her lips. Magnus is slowly bringing his face closer to Selena. Their lips are about to meet when the door opens. Magnus immediately stands up while pretending to help Selena with her blanket. He looks at someone who enters the room.

"Oh, it is you, doctor. Is there something wrong?". Magnus calmly asks without a hint of embarrassment.

The doctor replies with a smile, "No. Everything is fine and your grandmother is surprisingly recovered. You can take her home today." Magnus' face is filled with relief. "That is good news. Thank you, doctor."

As Magnus turns around to look at Selena, Selena is already at the right side of the bed, talking with now awake Miss Luna. Magnus approaches the left side of the bed and asks his grandmother, "How are you feeling, Nana?"

Miss Luna smiles, "I am feeling okay. Can we go home? I will be really sick if I stay longer here."

Magnus and Selena laugh. Magnus happily says, "Yes, Nana. We can go home. Your doctor has already discharged you." Miss Luna sighs of relief, "I am glad to hear that."

Magnus is pushing the wheelchair where his grandmother is sitting while Selena is carrying a big bag with Miss Luna's things. Miss Luna is uncomfortable being in a wheelchair so she complains, "Magnus, I can perfectly walk on my own. Why insist on putting me in a wheelchair?".

Selena is the one who replied, "You just recovered, Nana. Do not worry, this will be until we reach the parking lot. You will not be in the wheelchair in the mansion.". Miss Luna sighs and agrees, "Alright.".

They arrive at the parking lot and go in the car. During the ride, Miss Luna starts a conversation. "I totally forgot. Magnus, you should know that girlfriend of yours is a psychopath. She was the one who attacks Selena. If I am not this old, I have scratched her face.".

"I am really sorry, Nana that this happens to the both of you.". Magnus looks at Selena but Selena is looking out the window. He continues to speak, "I promise this will not happen again. I will not let her hurt both of you.". He is filling with anger again. He was busy taking care of his grandmother, he forgot Alvira. "You better not show yourself in front of me again and to my family, Alvira. Or you will regret it.", Magnus thought. Then suddenly he receives a text. As he saw who it came from, he immediately deletes the message and blocks the number. Magnus can no longer care about Alvira. "What we have is like ashes. It fades as the wind came to take it.".

An hour later, they arrive at the mansion. Magnus supports his grandmother walk into her bedroom, while Selena follows behind. Magnus then lays his grandmother on the bed. "Here you go, Nana. Just rest here.". But his grandmother protests, "Rest? It is daylight and I have already been resting in the hospital. I want to cook.".

Miss Luna is about to stand up when Selena stops her. "Nana, please listen to us. It will be just today. We just want to make sure that you are fully recovered.". Miss Luna sees she cannot force Magnus and Selena so she has no choice, "Okay, fine.".

Magnus and Selena leave the room. Miss Luna looking at them, smiling. "These two, fussing over nothing. I know that I am fully recovered, I can feel it.". But she still drifts off to sleep.

Magnus and Selena proceed to their bedroom to sleep. Selena's eyes widen as soon as she enters the bedroom. Everything has changed. What makes her confused is the bed that has two pillows in it and the corner of the room where Magnus sleeps has no longer the long couch. She looks at Magnus, "The couch is gone. Where would you sleep?". Magnus smirks, "In the bed, of course.".

"But...". Before Selena could finish talking, Magnus immediately goes to the bathroom.

Night came and SelemaSelena could not sleep, knowing Magnus is sharing a bed with her. She could position sideways and would not dare to turn around. Selena listens, "It looks like he is already asleep.", she mutters to herself. She sighs and positions her body straight. She is now looking at the ceiling. Selena is thinking about the man next to her. "I still cannot believe he is my husband.".

Selena realizes what she thought, and slaps lightly her own cheeks, "Snap out of it. You are done with stage.". Her whispers must have been loud since Magnus moves to turn around is now facing Selena. This made Selena would not dare to move a muscle, afraid that Magnus will be fully awake.

Selena stares at the ceiling. An hour later, her eyes are slowly closing. And minutes later, she can no longer fight it and drifts off to sleep. The next morning, she feels something slightly heavy on her shoulder. Selena slowly opens her eyes and sees that Magnus' face is an inch away from hers. Magnus' arm is also on her shoulder, almost hugging her. She slowly moves her hand to remove his arm but she realizes that her hand is on his waist.

"Did we hug each other?", Selena asks herself. She tries to move again to free herself but to no avail. She has no choice but to exert great strength regardless of Magnus wakes up. Selena tosses his arm away and then pushes his face away. Magnus moves. She thought he would wake up but he did not. He turns around without waking up. Selena breathes deeply out of relief and stands immediately. "You are so heavy.".

Selena goes to the bathroom and into the kitchen. She sees that Miss Luna is busy cooking. "Good morning, Nana. You are up early.". Miss Luna smiles, "Yes. You made me sleep early so I have to wake up early and cook you breakfast.". Selena laughs, "It is for your own good, Nana. And thank you for this. I do admit, I miss your cooking even if it is just for a day.".

Selena finishes her breakfast and leaves the mansion after. She is on her way to school when she receives a text. It is from Magnus. "Why didn't you wake me?". Her eyebrows meet, "I do not have to wake you. You should wake up by yourself.". She then puts her phone in her bag.

At lunch, Selena is at her usual spot - in the mini park. Minutes later, someone stands in front of her. When she looks up, she sees Erik. "What are you doing?", she asks him. Erik is a bit surprised by her reaction, "I... I am blocking the sun so you would not get sunburn.". Selena looks at him curiously, "And why would you do that?".

"Umm... No reason. I just do not want you to be hurt.". Erik's eyes widen as he realizes what he just said. Selena just looks at him with her eyebrows collide. "Uh-huh. Right. Uhh... Okay. Well, thank you. No need for that, I will go to my class anyway.". She starts to pack her things and stands up. She looks at Erik who is acting weird by not looking at her. Selena wants to leave immediately but did not want to be rude, "Thank you.".

Selena lied. She has no class for the afternoon but she does not know what to say as an excuse. She decides to go home. She proceeds to the exit and into the parking lot. Upon entering the car, she puts her hand on her chest because of being shocked so much. In the passenger seat is Magnus sitting and is looking at her. Selena feels angry, "What are you doing it?! You frightened me. You almost give me a heart attack.". Magnus realizes the situation and replies, "Oh. I am so sorry. I did not realize you will not notice me immediately with the lighting here.".

Selena rolls her eyes and exclaims, "Yeah! What are you even doing here?". Magnus did not reply immediately and just looks at Selena in the eyes. Selena's eyebrows collide again. "What? What are you doing here?". After pausing for a moment, Magnus comes back to his senses and clears his throat.

"Have you eaten lunch yet?".

"No, I have not. I plan to eat at home. Why?"

Magnus reaches to his back and grabs something. He then brings it in front of Selena. It was a bouquet of white roses. "These are for you.". Selena's eyes are filled with amazement but refrain from showing it. She accepts it and puts it in her lap. "What are these for? Is there an occasion?".

"No, I just want to give that and I want you to join me for lunch.".

Selena is speechless. But she still agrees and so they are at a restaurant now. She keeps on looking at Magnus, wondering what has gotten to him. Magnus, however, is busy picking foods on the menu. He looks at her, "What do you want to eat? Order as many as you like.".

Magnus and Selena are silent the entire time while waiting for their order. Selena decides to speak first. "Magnus, tell me the truth. What is going on? What are you being like this?". Magnus replies dismissively while looking at his phone, "I do not know what you are talking about." Selena becomes impatient.

"If you would not talk, then I will leave.".

This got Magnus' attention and puts down his phone. He looks at her intently, "Remember what I said that I want you?". Selena becomes speechless. Magnus continues to speak, "I decided to court you. I like you, Selena. I want us to start from the beginning. We will be in the courting stage like any couples would do.".

Selena laughs, "Are you kidding me? Do you think I will believe you? Please, Magnus. The first time you did this, I ended up believing that you love me but I ended up being hurt."

"That is why I am doing this. To make it up to you.".

Selena stares at him, examining him. Magnus continues to speak, seeing her expression. "Please give me a chance, Selena. I will do this right. And I am sincere about this. I never courted anyone before so this is all new to me but for you, I will explore.".

"You never courted anyone before? How about Alvira?".

Magnus' expression changes. "I did not court her. Can we not talk about her, please? She is no longer part of my life. She never was and never will be.". Selena could see his determination but there are still doubts in her heart. "I will think about it.". Magnus' expression lightens. He smiles and replies excitedly, "Really? So I have a chance.". He stands up and comes closer to Selena, then hugs her.

Selena's eyes widen. They are in a restaurant and people are looking at them. She smacks him at his shoulder. "Let me go. People are looking.". Magnus realizes the situation and instantly lets Selena go. "I am sorry. I am just happy.". Right then, their order has arrived.

"Let us eat our lunch.". Magnus is smiling while looking at her. Selena could not smile but her insides are feeling happy. "I just hope I am not wrong this time.", she thought.

They are happily eating and talking. But little they know, someone is watching them from the outside. It was Alvira. She is looking at Selena with rage at a distance. "How dare you steal Magnus away from me?! I should have killed you that day. You will not get away with this. Magnus is mine. And mine alone. No one can have him but him. Just so you wait, Selena. He will crawl back to me.". She continues to stares at them. Seeing her love smiling at another woman makes her want to attack but she controls herself. "It requires perfect timing.".
