Chapter 114: Talking about the past

• Nick said chuckling, "Man, did she ever. Now, this is why I stayed single. My ex-wife was such a pain after we got married."

"Indeed, I remember that one," Jay said. "She wasn't very respectful with the male Royals."

"Oh, I remember that. She hated me. Then again she hated most of us." I mentioned sorta çhuckling.

Nick nodded in agreement, "Yes she hated almost everyone here but I loved her deeply. That's why I divorced her since it wasn't working out. There wasn't any point in making an average stay. But boy, she nailed me big time after that divorce!"

"Yeah, she tricked you on that divorce. In a neutral tone, Matt advised. "Always get your wife a pregnancy check before you divorce them."

Nick said laughing, "Oh, I learned my lesson! Why do you think I'm still single! I'll never court outside the Kingdom again even if I did find another woman. It will only be within the Kingdom. Those Average Kind are something else. But I never would have divorced her if I knew about the pregnancy."

"Yeah, if you married into the Kingdom there wouldn't have been a divorce. That's why she never told you about the pregnancy. She knew she'd be forced into the Kingdom ways without getting out of it." I added.

Not denying it, Nick said. "Yeah, that's what I would have done. She wouldn't get any choice but now I have a motherless child to raise."

We looked at Samantha watching TV on the laptop from her dad's end of the bed. She paid no attention to our conversation.

"Yeah, but you got yourself a cute little girl out of it." Smiling down at the child, Jay said. "She's a little Princess and we all spoil her to death."

"Especially, with my sisters they just love her. My whole Royal family adores her." I said smiling at her.

Nick nodded, "Speaking of that." He asked, "who's watching her while I am gone? Your sisters are at the mall and your parents left."

"John and his family left for today." Jay said, "he's visiting his family. He told Cory and me about that yesterday. His brother's wife lost her unborn son from the attack. John's going over there to help his brother out. Maria was devastated since he never told her until today. Such a shame too, John's a Highest-Ranker his unborn nephew could have been a Highest-ranker too in the future if he pushed for it."

Disappointed and angered, I said. "It's unfortunate all this happened. John has worked hard for his position. He had the potential, regardless if his family wasn't in the military section, and stayed between the medium and lower Ranks."

Gesturing his head, Jay said, "He did push with us when we all trained together as teens. I remember he said he wanted to be in the Military Ranks of the Kingdom. Your Grandfather Phil took him under his training. John pushed himself up to the Highest-Ranked. He proved himself worthy to be in the Highest-Ranked. I'm surprised he married Maria, not too many Highest-Ranking men have families. But Maria is not a lost though, John's sons have that chance to be Highest-Rankers. He's tough with Jake and keeps him in line so he's a good kid. Actually, Nick, Jake wants to join your Division not mine like his father. You could have a future young blood Highest Ranker."

"I've seen that with all his scoring in the kids training division. He is scoring highest in my division. Compared to the rest of you guys." Nick commented.

In a neutral voice, I added. "I saw that too. Which training is back on by tomorrow. I've let things slide since this attack. So I am giving everybody one more day because we need to get everyone back into training."

With agreement Nick said."Yeah, I hear that." Checking his phone. "Well, my guys are ready to go. Who's watching my kid or should I just take her to the nursery?"

"Go. Will watch your daughter." I willingly volunteered. Most of us have always taken care of Samantha. I've always watched over her countless times. During the unexpected times, Nick has to leave to do what he does.

Nick nodded and walked to his daughter and said. "Alright, baby girl daddy's gotta go. Uncle Cory is going to watch you."

Nick kissed his daughter on her cheek and she hugged him. After that, he left out the door.

Being a quiet child, Samantha only smiled and didn't speak. She was too busy wanting to watch cartoons. By now she was used to her dad leaving on days he said wouldn't have to leave.
