Ch 180: Gut-wrenching Cry

From behind Cliff, we entered his room. Cory was the one who shut the door for him since he was busy trying to calm his crying daughter.

The living room had a familiar set up to Cory's room only behind his one section of the L-shaped couch wasn't a window but a wall with family portraits on it. Mostly it was of him and his beautiful wife Jenny. The couple seemed to be quite lovely, I thought. I could tell they loved each other from the way they smiled together in their portraits They even kissed each other in one of the pictures.

Very gradually, Cliff rocked his daughter lightly and it started to ease her cry into a lighter fuse. I peeked to see her pretty face while cuddled in the pink blanket whining in her pitch. She was so tiny. Her tiny face and wet light blonde hair still had blood on it from being delivered.

Pretty fast, Mike and Matt came back inside without knocking. They had a laptop and briefcase, working together. Matt and Mike set up the supplies on the coffee that was needed to properly add the new birth in the Kingdom. Both men took a seat on the couch section that had the bar behind them.

Zion randomly came down with a fresh bowl of water and sat it down on the coffee table for them. "She'll need to be cleaned up. All we could do was clear out her airway and handed her to Cliff." He said and then dashed back down the hallway.

"I'm ready for her, Cliff," Mike told.

Cliff went over to Mike and handed him the whimpering newborn. Mike laid the infant on his lap and started unwrapping the pink blanket. She had no clothing on from just being born. Her pinkish-red skin tone was still covered in smeared blood. So Mike took a wet warm cloth from the bowl and began cleaning up the blood off the freshly born infant. Again she started crying louder. Each time Mike washed and wiped the cloth around her frail tiny body. She bellows out showing her pinkish gums inside her mouth.

"I know this is the worst part. Hardly any of the babies like their first bath." Mike spoke quite softly to the newborn.

Surprisingly, Mike knew how to handle and even bathe an infant. I even took note, that Cliff being a first-time father knew how to hold a newborn.

Once Mike finished up her bath. He did her hand and footprint by pressing them one at a time on a flat drive scanner that slide out from the laptop's siding. Next, he swabbed her mouth with a spongy q-tip and pressed that on the scanner to read. Once he was done, the drive scanner slide back inside the laptop. As Matt sat there typing away on the digital keypad, logging down every detail about the newborn.

"Do we know the color of her eyes and what she weighs?" Matt asked in the middle of typing.

"She weighs 4lbs as she should," Mike answered.

Cliff shook his head no and shouts down the hallway. "Hey, JJ! Did her eyes open when you cleared out her airway?"

JJ walked down the hall covered in blood up to his elbows. Using a damp washcloth he was in the middle of cleaning the blood off himself. My eyes gaped to see he looked like he had just massacred someone. I felt slightly faint and squeamish to see him.

"No, I haven't seen her eyes open yet. I handed her off to you once I saw she was breathing." JJ said neutrally despite the fact he looked as if he has murdered somebody.

Just after his statement, we all heard a gut-wrenching cry from the bedroom. The screaming sound was so painfully agonizing. It would make you think twice about ever wanting to have a baby. It's one of those cry's that would knock the heat cycle right out of any female, I felt. Upon hearing the scream Cliff ran down the hallway to comfort his wife.

"Thanks for cleaning her, Mike," JJ said and then looked at Cory standing by me. "Jenny isn't doing well, she is in extreme pain. Her condition isn't stable."

"I hear that," replied Cory still hearing Jenny cry.

More men came into the room without knocking from behind Cory and me. All JJ did was point his finger down the hallway and they went down to the hysterical mother crying in pain.

Then JJ took a seat by Mike and takes the baby from him to laid her on his lap while she still whimpered. By using this phone size device, he took out from his pocket. A green laser beam scanned her body vertically up and down three times. While he kept his eyes on the screen.

"The baby is good I don't hear any gasping nor did the scanner detect any other complications or infections. Her crying is normal. So since the infant is fine, I need to give my attention to Jenny. Before I can give her a full exam. Will get the infant her vaccines very soon here." JJ informed after checking over the baby.

"Good call," said Cory. "I'll let you guys do your thing, Sally and I will turn in. Keep me posted and let me know if anything else is needed."

Overhearing Cory from down his bedroom, Cliff flew back down shaking his hand. "Thanks for stopping in." He said with gratitude.

"Congratulations to you and your wife on a beautiful baby girl and no problem," Cory lauded. "Take some time off your wife's going to need you for a few days. I'll take care of your working shifts just take some hours at the gym. I'll make sure someone is here while you do that."

"Thanks again, Cory," replied Cliff being very gratified. "I was just about to ask that."

Cory nodded at him.

"She is so beautiful," I said sweetly grabbing the men's interest since I've been quiet. "I hope the mother will recover quickly."

Cliff said blissfully, "thank you, Sally. I can tell your going to make a wonderful Primary Queen." He smirked more at Cory. "Hopefully, will have a new Royal birth in the Kingdom."

I about puked in my mouth hearing him say that as Cory didn't make it any better.

"Hopefully, that will be a goal once we are married," said Cory when he took my hand as felt faint. "I'll see you guys later."
