Oh God!

Nevaeh began reading.

"Loki, one of the Aesir Gods of Norse, is essentially a shape-shifter. He often actively seeks out mischief and destruction. His silver-tongue and charming personality managed to keep the gods' anger at bay for most of the time. Born of two giants, Farbauti and Laufey, Loki eventually wound up being the other gods' troublesome enemy. He carries the title of trickster God because of his manipulative words which always causes havoc within the peace of Nine Realms. After causing the death of Baldur, the God of light, son of God Odin and Goddess Frigg, all the Aesirs hunted him down. Loki was then chained by Odin and the gods' in a cave. His eagle-spread hands were tied to two unbreakable rocks at his sides, and his legs on another in front of him. The gods placed a venom dripping snake above Loki's head which dripped poison in Loki's eyes. His wife Sigyn protects her husband by loyally staying next to him with a bowl in her hands. She collects the venom falling on Loki's face in her cup and empties it after it gets filled to the brim, while the acid drips on Loki's unprotected eyes, occasionally making him squirm and writhe in pain which is the cause of earthquakes throughout the Nine Realms. Loki is the blood-brother of Odin and a constant fatal enemy of Thor, the God of Thunder. It is a prophecy that Loki will break free from his brutal prison on the day of Ragnarok, the day all the gods will join Odin against a fight with Loki and his army of giants. It is said that the gods will be slain by the hands of Loki and all the realms will perish in ashes. Loki, the God of Mischief, is considered to be the primary cause of initiating Ragnarok as a revenge towards all his fellow Aesir gods' which will ultimately be the end of the entire Nine Realms."

Nevaeh finished reading the page but kept staring at it for another few seconds. 'This book is absurd! What – Where – where did you get this?'

Daniel had been watching her with nervousness the entire time. He quickly straightened his face. 'I went to the library and I checked it under your name. I don't have a membership. Your number is 7451, right?' he confirmed.

Nevaeh nodded distractedly. 'God? A god? How – what,' she couldn't finish her sentences. She reread the entire page.

'His sacred bottom is not touching this filth,' Nevaeh suddenly whispered to herself. Her heart began beating rapidly as similar sentences ran across her mind, as though Loki had just now uttered them. 'I like that you are an Atheist, it makes things more interesting.' Nevaeh cursed under her breath. This was not happening, not again. There had to be some kind of mistake.

'Sacred bottom? What are you talking about?' Daniel was laughing.

She flipped through the pages with trembling fingers. One by one the titles shook her senses; Thor, the God of Thunder. Asgard, the Realm Eternal. The Bi-frost. The Frost Giants. The Dark Elves. Odin, the God of war and death. Goddess Frigg. God Heimdall. The Warriors Three. Mjolnir, Thor's hammer. Gungnir, Odin's almighty weapon which happened to be one of Loki's favourite staffs.

There were many a depictions, but Nevaeh's eyes widened further when she saw the strikingly similar gold outline of Asgard's palace.

'Nev?' Daniel's voice sounded scared, but she couldn't take her eyes off the book. She was reading everything. 'Nev, you are scaring me, but your wand is making me sweat.'

Nevaeh tore her eyes from the book to watch her wand hover next to her shoulder, since who knows how long. As soon as she saw it in mid-air, it soared right into her hand. Nevaeh closed her eyes and flicked it over the book. She was checking for any form of lie, deception, forgery, fake news, any tiny contradiction that would hint at what she had just read might not be real.

The book remained solitary. Her heart skipped a beat. She pointed her wand on one of the pages.

'Before I called you here and like I told you, I was wondering if this would lead to the conclusion that this Loki was some kind of con-artist, imitating someone who doesn't exist. But, your reaction is – it is un-understandable,' Daniel was pretty sure that there was no such word, but grammar-Nazi Nevaeh didn't correct him, making him sit weakly on the sofa.

'Nev, for god's sake, say something!' He watched her beat the book sharply with her wand and had an urge to stop her hand, but he knew better than to interrupt her while she was this frantic.

'I am not focused enough to do this. My head is all over the place! I can't! I am too—'Nevaeh paused.

She slid down the sofa, knelt on the carpet and placed the book on the ground. She bent over it and repeated her gestures. Daniel couldn't understand what she was trying to achieve.

It felt to Nevaeh as though her wand was refusing to work, or her brain had suddenly stopped thinking enough to make it work, either way, she was losing control over her sane mind. The word God kept ringing inside her ears.

Nevaeh got up from the carpet. She went towards the living room fold-out bed, next to which was a small table and picked up his laptop. She placed it on the floor next to the table and sat herself down in front of it. She flicked her wand once. The book lying near a dumbfounded Daniel came soaring towards her in a second. Nevaeh caught the book. She flicked her wand in front of the laptop, but nothing happened. Cursing under her breath, she placed the book over the laptop's keyboard and again flicked her wand. But nothing showed.

Daniel cautiously went near her. 'Did you try typing? You know, without the wand?'

Nevaeh didn't dignify that with a response. She didn't want to Google Loki. The internet can be misleading. She needed hardcore facts without any flaws, and she was going to get them one way or the other.

Nevaeh slowly straightened herself as if realising something.

She bumped her fist sharply on her forehead, like a knock on a door. Daniel gasped as the top of her head shimmered to reveal a silver-gold tiara with a huge red triangular stone in its middle.

'Dude, what the hell? What – How?' Daniel yelped, but Nevaeh was too busy freaking out herself.

She grabbed her wand, murmured something and pointed her terribly trembling fingers at the book. Daniel noticed that she had her wand-tip rested upon Loki's name.

Without any effort, the book's middle shone a blinding white. It seemed as if it were creating new pages inside it all on its own. Nevaeh touched the keypad of his laptop by her left index finger and flicked her wand again. Five slightly glowing pages appeared in the air and surrounded her. The stone in her tiara was blinking brightly.

Daniel blinked at the hologram-type, rectangular pages, quietly wondering how many new tricks she had learnt. Nevaeh folded her kneeling legs and sat on the floor in front of them.

The pages were completely different from the ones of the book, but all of them had Loki written over it. Some of them had the word 'Loptr' instead of 'Loki'. They were etched in some foreign language which both of them had never seen before.

She muttered something again and flicked her wand upwards.

The verbal pages turned into pictures captioned in English. The first one showed a huge throne room where many Frost Giants were seated. Nevaeh couldn't link the connection.

The three frames next to it had three distinctive figures over it; a black wolf with sharp green eyes, even bigger than Crystal's dad. Next to it was a female figure with dark hair and green robes. She had a pointy, horned helmet over her head. The last was that of a huge serpent's, whose body, which happened to be greenish as well, was so long that most of its body wasn't fitting inside the frame. The caption to the three of them read, 'Fenris, the Wolf. Hel, the Goddess of Death. Jormungandr, the World Serpent', respectively.

The footnote caught her tearful eye. 'Loki's children.'
