Sky Island #1

Upon arriving on Sky Island and paying the fees, the crew headed towards a place where they could dock their ship at.

Following Alyssia's instructions they all did not mention or ask questions concerning god or anything that would bring them trouble from the citizens within Skypeia.

Besides collecting scrolls and books detailing information on various types of things on the Sky Island, they purchased many types of dials, a waver and various types of fire bazookas and cloud skating or sledding types of tools.

However Alyssia had given them a task to complete during their time there so they continued to venture into different types of stores looking for talents.

During this time, Enel will be busy forcing the Sky Island builders and scientists to build his flying ship the 'Maxim' so many talents had been stolen and their families may have been held as insurance in case they try to escape.

However this only counts when they are publicly known or recognised people for their talents making Enel target them.

There will always be hidden gems hidden within small stores or the darker parts of a city.

Perhaps there would be some outside of the range of Enel's Observation Haki that had escaped his detection.

So Carrot, Archie, Clifford and Tristan who brought along Medea continued to go shopping and learn more about the island in the sky.

What was surprising to them was that the people on the island were very on edge but they could not ask why because they did not wish to cause trouble for them.

If they pushed too hard to make them speak and they spoke bad words about the so called god then they will be smited.

After their encounter with the Shandorians, they also realised that there were many conflicts between people living there and the rules were very strict.

Upon arriving near the poorer parts of the island, they came across a couple of weapon and dial stores so visited them while asking if there is anyone who knows how to properly use them all and build other things with them.

The last store that they arrived at had many practical tools that were made from recycled parts that seemed to have been broken and thrown away.

They were fixed up and some had even been modified to suit a new purpose.

Medea observed the tools that had been set aside and asked. "Can you tell me who has made or sold these to your store?"

Among the group, Medea had the best eye for detail and the ability to make sharp judgements.

Carrot may be the captain but she had a limited skillset, Tristan focussed towards medicine, diseases and poisons so she was of no help, Clifford only focussed on swords while Archie was more interested in ships so none of them could be of help to spot subtle differences in workmanship involving household appliances and other types of useful dials.

Someone that could fix up discarded and broken tools and resell them must have some potential, that is if they had learned how to do it themselves and were young.

They themselves had the books and scrolls to provide them to learn further if they had never had a proper teacher or method to the basics.

The person in the store looked at the items and his eyes turned bright after realising who had made them. "It is best that you go to the trash cloud at the end of the island and you should find him. He is often alone and fixing up the junk nobody wants anymore to sell to the store for food and clothing."

Medea nodded and signalled Tristan to begin pushing her wheelchair out of the store. "Thank you."

After travelling to the end of the island there was a separate cloud which was being used as a garbage dump but rather than a cloud it had the layout of a large trash island and some parts even created small to large islands of trash.

Upon witnessing this scene and taking in the foul stench, the Minks who had heightened senses ended up pinching their noses.

Old tools, items, clothing, food, containers, broken dials, empty dials with no more uses left, weapons, broken transportation like wavers and even abandoned shelves and books could probably be found within but their overall conditions weren't too good.

As they continued to look around they came across many small and vigilant pairs of eyes that looked from within the trash mountains or behind something large.

Abandoned children or children without any family after their parents had died came together in this location to scavenge and survive however they each fought for themselves so conflicts among them was very common.

Often the bigger and older kids would steal from the smaller ones leaving them to starve and work even harder in order to survive.

The smaller kids would be forced to either work together against the older kids or fight among themselves to overcome this situation.

Medea spoke up. "We are looking for a crafter or fixer among you all. Is there anyone you know that is capable of fixing things that have been broken."

Many children became vigilant and began to become more territorial. "Leave!"

Two braver and older kids came forward with pole type weapons which seemed to have some kind of modifications made to them and rushed towards Medea who was in the wheelchair.

She was positioned to be right in front of them so they would soon be able to land a hit upon her but her arm moved on the side arm rest of her chair and triggered something.

Something appeared over her shoulder and it looked like some form of launcher type of weapon.

The launcher weapon fired a net towards the approaching kids who had small angel wings on their backs and as it hit them it closed upon them.

Medea looked at the others coldly. "Just because I look the weakest and easiest to attack does not mean that I am helpless. So… again, where is the person I am looking for? I mean them no harm."

After she finished speaking, four angel winged children walked out with small modified fire bazookas on their backs, fixed up clothing and special cloud skates. "Follow us to our leader."

Carrot looked towards Medea and grinned while giving her a thumbs up for successfully handling the situation.

As they followed they came across the entrance to a small base that had been built from many scraps and parts to fortify the walls and build watchtowers.

To protect what was theirs and continue fixing or building tools from the broken or abandoned dials, they needed to protect their belongings from the other groups living on the trash island cloud.

However Medea quickly noticed the children's tools and weapons that they carried and knee that the person behind this must be quite skilled.

The workmanship in the store may look a little less presentable but the person who fixed them up had focussed more towards its function and what it was going to be used for and where it would be used which shows his skills may be far above what he had sold at the stores.

Such practical people usually only sell their goods unless they are in need of something and they would not always sell their good stuff, they would sell them so they can gain just enough to get them by for a short while but not too much so that others will covet what they have and so that they can still carry it while on the move or on the run from others.
