Not your Goddess.

I stood up in the middle of the baptism pool that pooled over on it's edge into another infinity pool and then another and another. The visual of the pure white marble stairs ascending down on each side was just as I had imagined. It was beautiful. The night sky looked as though you were looking straight into the galaxy itself. below the very bottom where the last baptism pool sat was a huge golden gate. No one but priests and those serving the clergy could be baptized in these pools. The higher someones ranking was the higher your baptism pool would be. Right now I stood in the popes baptism pool.

As I recalled all the small facts about my story I heard hurried foot steps approach me from behind. I had forgotten about the spiral stair case hidden behind the wall mural that only priests and higher officials of the temple could use. Murmurs erupted all around me as I stood there wide eyed too stund to react.

"Young lady." A stern yet somehow kind voice said to me. I looked in the direction of the sound to see a tall pale skinned man with long blonde hair tied in a high ponytail. His eyes were thickly adorned by black lashed that seemed beautiful out of place for his light features. His eyes were the color of deep emeralds and I quickly realized who he was.

"CYPRESS?" I said in disbelief. He was one of many main characters in my story. Cypress Tierras was the head priest of Fiddlewicks Grand Temple. He gazed at me in surprise for a moment. The murmuring that had been low were now voices speaking normally all around me.

"Cypress! Do you know her?" One voice asked the man.

"No." He answered calmly.

"She must be the Goddess!" Another priest shouted.

"The Goddess has finally returned!" Another priest rejoiced.

"Calm yourselves." Cypress's voice boomed. The crowd quieted instantly. "In order to know for sure she would have to be able to complete the trails." Cypress walked over to the side of the pool and offered me his hand. Our eyes locked for a moment before I hesitantly took his hand. he helped me out of the water. It was freezing in the night air and I visibly shivered. Cypress ordered a priest to get me a towel and some dry clothing. He put his hand on my back and ushured me into the temple. I followed quietly and obediently to the room where I could dry off and change my clothes. I caught sight of myself in a mirror. my damp soft black hair was curling slight as I had wavy textured hair my eyes looked back at me with their Amber colored confusion. Could I be dreaming? I thought to myself. A knock on my door followed by a voice filled the room.

"May I enter?" Cypress asked.

"Y-yes..." I answered weakly. The door clicked open as Cypress entered the room. Without wasting any time Cypress walked up to me purposefully. He stood in front of me with an uninterested look.

"How did you light the blue flames?." He asked calmly. I knew he was accusing me of tampering with the torches. This somewhat aggravated me so decided to answer curtly.

"I didn't light the flames they lit themselves."

He scoffed at my answer. I knew who he was and what his character was like because I wrote him myself. He was accusing me of being another goddess impersonator like the witch Luisa who fooled half of the continent into believing she was the Goddess untill Hiel and himself disproved her claims.

"Do you expect me to believe your the Goddess of Gia?" He wore a nasty condescending grin.

"No. I do not." I said honestly.

My words seemed to surprise him somewhat; but not enough to deteer him from taking out his dagger and twirling it round in his hand for a moment. I stood there shocked as fear began to settle in my chest slowly growing with each passing second. Our eyes met and I stepped back instinctively.

"Do you think a Goddess could bleed?" His icy tone was the last thing I needed to go into flight mode. I turned to run but was almost immediately slamed chest down into a desk. The pain I felt was nothing compared to the fear I was feeling.

"Now let's see who you really are." He said in my ear bemused by the situation it seemed. I shut my eyes tightly and felt the sharpness of his dagger glide across the side of my neck.

"Hmph." I heard him make a sound of satisfaction mixed with irritation.

"Looks like your not a Goddess after all since you bleed."

The sound of a door crashing open startled both Cypress and I as a whimper escape me.

"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING!?" A voice boomed into the room. Cypress released me from his hold and I could finally escape to a corner of the room away from Cypress.

The person who had entered the room locked eyes with me and we both stood still. I knew who he was and he knew who I was. As if things were aligning in the cosmos we just knew eachother.
