The character who recognized me instantly was Hiel Thorn. A character I wrote to be emotionally connected to the Goddess. I always wrote my true feelings through him as a way to make myself part of the story I loved writing. Whenever Cypress patronized Hiel and ask him what the Goddess thought about certain events I would write my true feelings through Hiel. Not that Cypress ever believed him since he was a High priest who didn't believe in the Goddess even though he was blessed with strong holy powers.
Hiel and I stared at eachother holding eachothers gazes. I knew he could feel my fear. I also knew that if we came into contact he might turn into an Angel. I had loosely based the religion in my story on Catholicism however Angels in my story could only be people who had an emotional connection to their Goddess. Hiel was definitely someone who could turn into an Angel if he ever came in contact with the Goddess which meant if I was truly considered the Goddess of this world and I touched him he would become an Angel. This may be the only thing that could save me from Cypress. Hiel opened his arms to me and without a second thought I ran to him. As soon as I locked my arms around him a white blinding light enveloped us and when the light died down I could see Hiel's gentle gray eyes looking down at me. He looked so earnestly over joyed his long silver hair wisping about in the magical air of the soft glittering holy light.
"My Goddess." he whispered as tears formed in his eyes. He was just as beautiful as I had imagined him to be. I could see his see through wings flutter behind I wanted to say something anything but my eyes were too heavy and my vision began to blur. I was relieved to have Hiel as my guardian Angel. My eyes closed and I drifted to sleep.
--------------------Hiel------------------
My Goddess had returned to the world after centuries of being absent. The moment of her arrival I felt her. I was in the east wing of the temple when I awoke to her presence. I could always faintly feel my Goddess's presence but never had I felt it so strong before. I rushed to the center of the temple where the baptism pools were I could feel her awe, confusion and disbelief. My Goddess was here. She was definitely here. I ran through the corridor barefoot. I had to reach her. suddenly a feeling of dread washed over me followed by the raising feeling of terror. I could somehow tell she was no longer in the baptism pools but somewhere within the Temple. Finally I came across a crowed of priests standing in front of an office door. I could feel her fear escalate. I pushed passed them and slammed the door wide open. I saw Cypress pinning a figure of a woman while holding a dagger in his hand.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" My voice boomed.
Cypress released the woman and she instantly ran into a corner of the room. When she looked at me I knew who she was and I could tell that she knew me too. We stared at eachother as the we made our wordless connection. I could still feel her fear although I was here. I opened my arms to her and she ran into me and held me tightly. She finally knew that she would be safe. A blinding white light filled the room. I could feel the surging holy power within me. I knew what was happening. I was turning into a holy being. I was turning into my goddess's guardian Angel. When the light lessened I could see her amber colored eyes looked into mine as though I was the most beautiful being she had ever seen. her dark hair fluttered about and I could not help but think she was quite pretty. I could feel my new extended phantom limbs. I stretched out my ethereal wings their length quite sizeable. I could feel her fading into a deep sleep as I held her. Her eyes finally closed and the white glittery light disappeared. I held her with ease thanks to my new found strength. I finally looked at Cypress who seemed justifiably shocked. The clamour from the priests outside the door finally came to my attention. Faces full of disbelief others full of joy.
"Hiel!" A young priest in training squealed loudly. "You"ve become an Angel!"
I finally looked back at the wings that were now apart of me. Flexing them here and there. They were white and see through. They also passed through solid objects as if they were made of light.
"Hiel." I heard Cypress speak. I quickly glared at him. How could a high priest of the Grand Temple attack his own goddess?
Cypress opened his mouth to say more but was unable to as the Pope himself entered the room. He gasped at the sight of my wings.
"Is she our Goddess?" He questioned me. I simply nodded and carried her towards him.
"She's resting now. She needs a room." I wanted her to be comfortable as I already knew what would happen next. The Pope was going to call in the council clergy.
"She can't be." Cypress said resentment clear in his tone. "She bleeds. A goddess shouldn't bleed." He presented the blood on his dagger to the Pope.
The Pope gasped in disbelief of what Cypress had done.
"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND!?"The Pope screeched.
"It wouldn't be the first time you'd been taken for a fool." Cypress said coolly.
"YOU DAMNED BOY! IF IT WEREN'T FOR YOUR STRONG HOLY POWER I WOULD HAVE HAD YOU THROWN AWAY AGES AGO!" The Pope's face was turning red with rage.
I was running out of patience. "The Goddess needs a room to rest in now." My tone was authoritive. everyone fell silent.
"Yes. of course." The Pope calmed as he motioned for his Bishop to come over. Give her the empirial bed room.
"y-yes. My holiness." The Bishop said shakily.
I followed him as he lead the way. Even though I already knew where it was.
