Walking to the back of the ship, Master M'tz and Zaran entered the armory. Zaran was a weapons master, he was primarily noted for his ability with cold weapons, things like swords, knives, and so forth. He also mastered hot weapons, firearms, and such.
The armory held so many strange things in it. He picked up a double-barrel repeating blaster. Then he saw an old Clone Trooper rifle and a few other blasters. He picked up a couple of thermal detonators. He put them down and looked at the armor.
What kind of weapons are these? Do they really work?" Zaran looked at Master M'tz unsure.
"Of course they work, we'll grab a few and take them outside. I'll even let you practice on a live target," the Jedi master smiled at Zaran.
"Live target?"
"Yes, me. Come now, I don't know how long Gar will be in his meditative trance. Just grab whatever strikes your fancy." Zaran nodded gathered quite a few things and found something like a duffle back, filling it with weapons and armor.
It wasn't until they reached outside that Zaran realized he was in a spaceship. He was nervous, excited, fearful, and curious. There were so many emotions, though they were previously in a spaceship, everyone looked human. He saw Gar on his way out and remembered the boy as the storyteller he surprised him with an attack. Thanks to him, Zaran was in the bacta tank.
"Over here," Jedi Master M'tz waved to Zaran who stared at the spaceship. He moved after the man in robes called to him a few times.
"Are you aliens?" Zaran asked.
"No, but we work in space. Some of us at least."
"How are you connected with that little redhead?"
"That's not what's important, Mr. Zaran."
"Of course, Mr?"
"Jedi Master Sy M'tz, you may refer to me as Master M'tz. Let's see what you've selected."
Zaran opened the duffle bag pulled the armor out and set it to the side, next he brought several other blasters and thermal detonators.
"Oh, a Wookie bowcaster, a powerful weapon. It's a fitting weapon for a man who mastered archery. Take the bowcaster and shoot at that log over there, let me know when you're comfortable with it." Master M'tz pointed to a large log that lay on the ground.
Zaran checked the bowcaster and after some trial and error fired a bolt, nearly hitting the log. He was impressed with the power of the weapon, and enthusiastically fired a few more shots before getting a feel for it. Then he lay down fire hitting the log accurately.
"Okay, I think I've got it," Zaran yelled to Master M'tz.
"Good, see if you can hit me."
"Are you sure, I'm really good with weapons," Zaran hesitated but confirmed with the Jedi master.
"Fire when you feel like it," the good-natured master nodded, encouraging the young man.
Not asking again, Zaran fired the weapon but was surprised to find the Jedi Master moved slightly and avoided the bolt. This wasn't a feat a normal person could accomplish. Dodging a regular firearm was nearly impossible without elite training. Firing the blaster bolt was even more impossible, he knew he couldn't do it.
It was when he noticed Master M'tz running toward him, that Zaran got nervous and shot continuously. He tried to get a bead on the older-looking man, but he never got close. The master Jedi picked up a stick at some point and put it on Zaran's neck.
"You might last the week for Gar, but I'm not sure," Master M'tz dropped the stick and pointed out the features of different weapons. He had Zaran practice with the weapons.
"The armor is good against most ordinances on this planet. You would need a powerful explosive to get through the armor. If you were hit with a blaster, it wouldn't give you as much protection.
The HUD inside of the helmet can help you target and has several other features. This uniform is for urban troopers and has camo to help you blend into urban areas. I'll let you play with it. I'm sure you can figure out the features, if you need help, ask Sol. He's using an older Clone Trooper armor, but they share a lot of similar functions," Master M'tz explained everything to the man patiently.
"You aren't worried I'll use this to betray you?" Zaran was unsure if there was a trap. Why did this Jedi master not care if he was armed to the teeth? Sure, his abilities were amazing, but a sneak attack could settle him.
Master M'tz smiled and moved five feet from Zaran, "Shoot me."
"What? Are you crazy?" Zaran asked.
"Shoot me, or else," Master M'tz said.
Zaran used the hand blaster and shot a barrage of shots at the older man. The older master displayed his skills with a lightsaber for the first time. All together, Zaran shot five blasts at Master M'tz, and each of the bolts was returned in between his feet. All five shots returned to the same place.
"I'm a Jedi Master, the Force is my ally. You cannot sneak up on me, trick me, or kill me at point-blank range. It's not impossible, but it's like the chance of a five-year-old being able to kill you with a machine gun. Clean up the mess. You can keep practicing if you want to.
"Yes, sir, thank you," Zaran was never as scared as he was now.
At a hill near the ship, Shang-Chi, Natalie, and Sol watched the entire thing drawn over by the sound of the blasters.
"That is why I respect Master M'tz so much. I don't think I could do such a thing. Maybe I could, but not with such ease. Learn everything you can from that man. Come, training isn't over.
Master M'tz saw Gar standing near the ship. He was standing near a thin tree. Patting him on the shoulder he said, "I see you have finished meditation. Come inside, there's more to learn.
After the Jedi Master and the boy disciple Gar left, Zaran removed his phone.
"Hey Baltroc, it's me." Zaran saw Shag-Chi and nodded at him. They fought many times in the past, but Shang-Chi and Zaran no longer competed at the same level. Still, Zaran always respected the man, and he seemed to respect him.
"No, I didn't capture the redhead. She had some powerful friends who captured me," Zaran listened to the person on the other end.
"Don't worry, our client wants Dreykov and the Widows taken care of. That shouldn't be a problem," he listed a little longer.
"I found someone scarier than either of us has fought before, they have a thing against Dreykov.
"I'm talking scary, stronger than Shang-Chi, that demon we fought, remember -- "
"Yeah, that thing wouldn't last a second. Let the client know that his problem will be handled. Give us a few weeks.
"I have no intention of betraying this guy. There's no chance, none. Trust me and don't do anything if you want to live," Zaran listened a little more.
"Yeah, that bad. Keep your nose clean. Take a vacation and I'll let you know when it's taken care of," Zaran closed his phone and gathered the blasters. He noticed the thermal detonator and finally decided to try it.
It was a good thing he threw it as far as he did, when it exploded he was knocked off his feet and shivered in fear.
"I am not messing with these people." He finally said.
