"About time you two decided to come down.."
Heather said while opening up the fridge and taking out breakfast related foods. Clay was yawning and walking down the stairs while holding Eve's hand.
She was also yawning, rubbing her eyes in the process. "The sleep was just too good, that's why~..." Clay groaned out and picked up Eve as they came to the bottom of the stairs. "Sleeping til 10 though is a huge no-no. You know better than that.."
He simply nodded as he made his way over towards their dining table. Eve's eyes couldn't be taken off the TV as her favorite show was on. Something about a brother going to jail to help break out his older brother.
Interesting show.
"Your father already left this morning for work. He said he wished he could have stayed and had breakfast with us, but a new case opened up, and they needed him urgently."
Clay sat down at the table and put Eve into her high chair. "A new case, huh? Did he say what's it about it or..?" Clay assumed it was about what happened last night.
They didn't exactly keep things on the low, and that huge explosion he made wasn't exactly hard to see or hear.
"A break in at someones warehouse. He didn't say much else.."
Clay nodded, looking over at the show on TV. 'A break in, huh? Knowing dad and his reputation, a simple break in isn't what dads gonna be investigating.'
He hoped that if there were any cameras in the warehouse, the footage would have been destroyed in some way. 'Guess I'll have to believe in Jasmine that she took care of everything. Oh well..' He shrugged slightly and continued staring off at the TV.
His mom cooked them up some breakfast which consisted of steak and eggs. It was surprising to learn that Eve even ate steak, but it didn't completely shock him as he chalked it down to one of the many weirdly things she could do even if she was a toddler.
"Oh, yeah, mom, last night before going to bed, I found out that uhm...people with superpowers...exist? Why didn't you guys tell me about this before?"
She froze for a split second, then continued plating their food. "Oh, so you found out about that, huh? Can't hide anything from that darn internet, can you?" She chuckled and turned around, plates of food in her hands.
"Well, your father and I didn't want to tell you just yet, because well,.." She paused to set down their food. "Well, the existence of superpowers made the whole world go into a state of shock. Even your father couldn't belive it and was a bit skeptical.
But what I'm trying to say is... we didn't want you to wake up and hear about people who could destroyed buildings with their hands alone or...people who killed families because the fun of it.
That'd stress anyone out, and you just waking up... Do you think you'd be able to endure us telling you all of that when you were in a weak state?"
He thought for a moment, then said, "Oh, that's understandable. Yeah, you guys made the right choice. I would've feared going outside if I knew about people like that.." He then looked over at Eve who didn't have a care in the world.
'Guess she knows about them? God, this child is weird for not reacting like she should..'
"You see, your sister was saved by a hero and I guess that's stuck with her because whenever we'd mention the subject of [Ability Holders], she wouldn't freeze up or anything like that."
"Really? That's interesting.."
He of course never knew about this, so it really was surprising. "Yep. But enough talk about this stuff. I don't really like [Ability Holders] that much.
Nothing personal, but if you use my car as a sheild from someone's laser vision, and wont even try to complicate for it, then.."
She shrugged and sat down at the table. "Never in a million years would I think that words like that would leave your mouth. I guess things really did change in these past few years.."
Though he's experienced those changes last night, it was still surprising to hear his mom say things like that.
He soon started eating his food. While eating it, he felt as though she somehow improved her skill over night with how good it was tasting.
It didn't take him long to finish, and when he did, he got up, saying, "I'm gonna go buy some stuff today mom. A phone, new laptop and probably some clothes. Do you think I could borrow some money?"
"Hm? Oh, wow, this is a surprise. You usually never ask us for things, so it caught me off guard.."
She chuckled, covering her mouth while using her other hand to point at the couch. "Go in my purse and take as much money as you need, okay?" He nodded, put his plate away, then went over to her purse on the couch.
'Forgot mom carries around wads of cash..' He picked up the bands of money and stuffed them into his pockets. "Mom, you needs to get with the times. This...this makes you seem like a bank robber or something."
She rarely used credit cards too. "Yeah, yeah. You sound just like your father. I do what I want, so don't judge me!" He sighed, then shrugged and made his way over to the front door.
"Mommy, I wanna go with Kway! Can I! Can I pwease!" Eve stretched her arms out at Clay as she started to hiccup.
Seeing this, Heather looked at Clay who said, "Sure, I don't mind. Need someone to guide me through the city anyways.."
He came over and picked her up from out her seat. "Yay! An adventure~..!" She screamed out. "Yep! We're gonna do lots of things, alright?"
As they were about to leave, Hearher stopped them by saying, "You guys aren't gonna get changed? You're really gonna embarrass me like that?"
He wore pajamas pants, a white t-shirt, and slippers. Eve was just in her pajama gown and slippers. They had atleast brushed their teeth and did their hair before coming down, so they wasn't a complete mess.
"Uh, yeah? Ain't nothing wrong with what we're wearing. Isn't that right, Eve?" Eve agreed and pointed to the front door, eager to leave.
"Hm,... Well, I guess it's fine for today. Next time though, put some clothes on, okay? I'm only allowing it now since you guys seem to be in a hurry.."
She sighed and stood up, taking Eve's plate over to the sink and beginning to wash the dishes by hand.
Clay just nodded and said, "See ya later then mom." as he opened and closed the door behind himself. "Now Eve. Where should we go first?" He looked down at her and she said, "Anywhere is fwine!"
Her enthusiasm that she could only have gotten from her mother was very rejuvenating and so saying, "Okay.", they started walking off..
....
