Vampires, creatures from folklore that feed on the vital essence of the living. Creatures of myth told over and over from centuries-long, generation to generation; stories used to scare mischievous children into repentance; stories that have kept humans entertained for far too long. Stories of these writers have turned into bestsellers and she, of course, had watched more than enough movies to keep her informed.
But now, Dahlia wasn't so sure what she knew anymore. It was as if time slowed down as she saw, not one, not two, but many guests sink their teeth, no, fangs, into the neck of the escorts - escorts like her. And then the time freeze collapsed and she was back to reality.
Dahlia was the only escort still on her feet and a gasp tore from her lips when she saw Gwen from far away. The girl was on the table, almost served as a course meal, as three vampires drank from her - one from the neck, the other at the wrist and the last took from her thigh.
"Holy mother of God!" Dahlia's mouth hung open while she unconsciously took a step back.
What the hell was going on? No, this must be some sort of prank. Perhaps, she was taken from her place by a group of pranksters and then she's manipulated to join in the cast for the strange movie. There was no way on earth those fangs were real, were they?
All this had to be fake and now, all she had to do was to close her eyes and count to ten and everything would go back to the way it was before she arrived. Yes, that's it.
But to her utter disappointment, when Dahlia opened her eyes, her eyes exactly zoomed in on one of the escorts sitting astride the guest with blood trailing down her neck and the guest leaned down to lick it off like it was a delicious treat.
Oh, the shit is real, It finally dawned on her.
Dahlia gulped down the lump in her throat because she knew if this was real, then she was about to be served on a platter of gold.
"When I purchased your services, I wasn't exactly told I would need to serve myself," a thick accent said from behind and Dahlia didn't need to turn to know it was the vampire who purchased her.
Oh, vampires? She finally believed it.
Dahlia's breath hitched in her throat as she turned with excruciating slowness. And when her eyes landed on him, a little gasp left her lips. Long blonde hair, skin as pale as the undead, how could she not have noticed the features? Well, you couldn't exactly blame her since last night she was just sleeping on her comfortable, lonely bed only to wake into this nightmare.
"Oh..." The vampire moaned as if he was savoring something, "I can smell your fear and it's quite exciting,"
Well, pheromones sucks. Vampires were predatory creatures and the more fear she showed, the more excited he was to hunt her down.
"I don't belong here," Dahlia told him, her gaze unwaveringly on him. It was useless to ask for mercy but she had to try hoping for a miracle or something.
"Do humans ever belong here?" He chuckled exposing white sparkling and of course, the fang that sent shivers down her spine.
The vampire then stretched his hand as if expecting her to take it, "Now, come on, dear, I can sense this is your first time being a donor and like you heard, it's quite painful at first. However...." he peered up at her through lowered lids suggestively, "After that comes great pressure that you might give everything to have a taste of the second time. Now come," He urged her.
Dahlia looked around the hall, it was saturated by the amorous sound of women moaning and there were even a few escorts making out with their hosts. She then stared back at the vampire's outstretched hand and his beckoning smile that reminded her of a con salesman. If there was anything she's learned over the years from fantasy books, vampires were sly creatures and never to be trusted.
"Go to hell!" Dahlia turned on her heels immediately.
Her heart was pounding in her throat and she hardly took two steps when her host reappeared right in front of her. Shit, their super speed.
"Bad answer," the vampire muttered with a sigh, "Why do humans never learn?"
Turning to the left, Dahlia picked the glass off the table and shattered it on his head yet the vampire stood unaffected.
"Oh no,"
A slap met her face and Dahlia swore she saw her life flash before her eyes. Blood flew from her mouth and she fell to the ground but the vampire was quick to pull her back to her feet.
None of the other guests intervened as if the scene was of no importance to them. It was almost as if it wasn't the first time a human did something like this.
"I was going to give you the best time of your life but then, it seems you like it rough," The man said, and then his fang was in her throat, causing her eyes to fly open.
Dahlia gasped as he brutally pierced her throat causing a choked scream to leave her lips. However, that was when it happened.
