Squash Face

Chapter – 30 Squash Face

Looking in the direction, from where the spear has come, Max saw a familiar face coming out from the forest. "You Need Help?" saying that, the same man from yesterday walked out from the forest.

The squeezed face guy come out of the forest; Max knew that this guy was strong but he didn't know that he was strong enough to take out a beast in one blow. "Thanks for saving me," Max said and instantly drop to the ground to let his body rest. Now that Max knew that he was safe, the rush that he was feeling to keep himself alive had vanished.

"Are you okay?" the man came close to Max and seeing that Max had fallen on the ground, had made him worried for a second. Rushing toward Max, the man saw that Max's eyes were open and he was just resting there. "I thought something had happened to you. What did you do to make the beast come after you?" the man asked, knowing that beasts here don't leave the forest until something serious happens to them.

"I thought I would be able to handle the beast, so when it was away, I killed his kids to gain some beast crystals but there weren't any. Later the beast found me and started attacking me." Max told him what had happened to him. Knowing what had happened, the man looked at Max's left hand which was tied with some clothing but the blood was still oozing out. "Is this wound caused by the beast? You need to treat your wound properly or it will be dangerous for you. Let me help you." Saying that the man pulled out a little bottle from his bag and applied it to Max's wound after removing the wrap cloth.

"Aargh, it stings" Max screamed a little the moment tonic was applied to his wound. "Yeah, I know but it will remove toxins from your body." The man continued to treat Max's wound and after that, he wrapped his arm in new clothing. "Okay kid, it's done. It is going to take some to heal but you won't die from blood loss and poison." The man stands up saying that and he noticed something there was only one horse there.

"Shit, someone again stole my horse. Aargh, at this rate, I'll not have any money left." The man was annoyed that his horse was stolen and it wasn't the first time. It was his seventh horse, and no matter what he does every time he comes back his horse gets missing. At one time he had stayed hidden near the entrance of the forest to see who's the person who steal his horse but after staying there for two days no one came to steal his horse and he gets inside the forest to hunt but when he gets back, his horse was gone again.

Seeing the man scream like that, Max stood up. "Is something wrong?" Max asked the stranger, the stranger turned around and his eyes were looking kind of scary to Max even though his face was funny, Max was feeling scared of him. Knowing how strong this person is, Max was hesitating to say anything to him now. Building his courage and remembering that this man had saved him earlier, so he won't harm him.

"Ahem, Can I know what's wrong?" Max said with a low voice. "My horse it's gone again, every single time. My horse just disappears when I come out of the forest." Hearing him, Max also realized that if this guy hadn't left the forest, then where would his horse be gone? "It's a little annoying but you can take my horse to get back to the city." Max offered him his horse as a way to thank him for saving his life. But Max had forgotten that he had rented this horse and he would have to return it once he gets back to the city.

"Really? You would let me use this horse to get back to the city? Every time my horse had disappeared, I had to go back to the city on foot and it takes a day to get back to the city this way, and tiring to do so." Max didn't know what was wrong with this guy cause after Max had offered him his horse, this guy's eyes which were brimming with anger some seconds ago were now getting teary.

"Yeah, I can't hunt beasts in this condition. I also need to go back so we can go back together." Max said. "Thank you, I remember you're the kid from yesterday. My name is Bob, people also call me 'Squash Face'." H introduces himself to Max. "I'm Max and I'm temporarily staying in this city."

After that Max and Bob, departed from the forest to get back to the city. While Max was checking the system windows which had popped up after, Bob had applied the tonic.

[The poison is subdued from your body]

[Your bleeding had stopped]

Seeing that the poison was removed from his body, Max was relieved if the poison had stayed inside his body, he would have lost all his health and had to use the Healing Potion to save himself. "It's upsetting that I didn't get any Exp. from that beast even after hitting him that many times and I also had to use two Energy Crystals to keep running away from it." Max was displeased, even though Max had hit the beast many times, the system has not counted his contribution to killing the beast. "Maybe my attacks did nothing to that beast, the beast hadn't gotten any injury from my attacks and Bob had killed it in one strike." Realizing why he had gotten nothing from the kill, Max made a note in his mind that whenever he will hunt in a group, he will make sure to at least leave a scratch on the beast, otherwise, he won't gain anything from it.

"Bob, can I ask what Tier the beast was?" Max wasn't able to get the crystal, so he doesn't know what Tier the beast was. After all, Bob was the one who killed the beast so Max didn't feel right to dig out the crystal from the dead beast. he let Bob take the crystal. "It was a Rare-Tier beast, did you not know that?" Bob was a little surprised that Max didn't know what Tier the beast was. "I wasn't sure, I knew that it was higher than Advance-Tier but wasn't sure which Tier was it," Max said, remembering the day that Lucas had taken him to hunt the Rare-Tier beast, that beast body was weak so even with the Basic-Tier weapon, Max was able to hurt the beast a little.

"You shouldn't hunt the beast before knowing their actual strength, which area were you hunting in?" suggested Max, Bob was curious about which area Max was hunting. "I was in the middle area, where I found that beast," Max said remembering why he had gone to the middle area. "If that damned beast would have stayed in the outer area, nothing like this would have happened." Max thought.

"You're brave to hunt alone in the middle area but I would suggest you stay in the outer area or you will end up in the same situation as today. Only Basic-Tier beasts roam the outer area but it's different for the Middle area, you will find beasts from Advance-Tier to King- Tier and Without a proper team no matter what you shouldn't get to the Central area." Hearing that theirs also King-Tier beasts in the Middle area, Max decided to only hunt in the Outer area until he got strong enough to hunt in the Middle area.

"Thanks, I'll not go to the Middle area from now on. Do you hunt alone or do you have other people with you?" Max questioned; the way Bob looked Max was sure that he preferred his own company rather than to be with someone.

"I'm a lone wolf kid." Bob proudly said that while slamming his fist on his chest to show how strong he is. "As I thought," Max said in his mind, he didn't want to make of the person who had saved his life, no matter how funny his face was. Continuing to talk, both of them didn't realize that they had reached the city entrance.

"Thank you again for saving my life today." Max again thanked Bob for earlier and parted ways with him. Bob had also decided to head to his home, Max had taken the horse with him to return it to its owner. "Even though I didn't gain a lot of things today, it was a good experience for me and I am also close to leveling up 'Dimensional Travel'. Opening up the system window, Max checked the skill.

[Dimensional Travel (Level 1) (Exp. 76/100): The user can travel to short distance by traveling through the cracks in this world but the user has to be careful of the creatures that live in these cracks. The travel distance can be increased by leveling up this skill]

"I just want to know what, improvements this skill will gain after I leveled it up." Thinking about it, Max had gotten to the inn.
