The premiere of "Road to perdition" went well and the response of the audience was also good. Everyone praised it as a good crime/drama film.
The next day, Noah was sitting in Mike's office. Mike drank the coffee while watching Noah spinning around the whole office.
"Hey, come here and eat somthing. You've been like this since you entered the office ."
"I don't want to eat. I will spit it out if I really ate something" Noah said but then touched his stomach: "But I am also very hungry."
"Too nervous? But the premiere went well last night and the response of the people watching was also good."
" But I don't know if they liked the movie. Or even if they liked it, did anyone noticed my presence and acting."
"That's what I am saying." Mike put the newspaper in his hand on the table and continued: "You just had a supporting role in the movie and you performed good. No matter how good the movie performs now on the box office, it will not have much influence on you.
Your two movies were premiered last night. No one in industry is blind. You will be spotted and I believe that it will not be long before you get new offers.
Noah nodded and he understands this well. His job was to show his presence and acting skills in the movie. And he has already performed it well. Now he should look forward to his future, but no matter what, he is still very concerned about.
"Look here are the reviews written for the movie." Mike called him and continued to read: "Do you want me to read them for you, or you want to read it yourself."
"No, you read them."
"OK, I will read them for you." said Mike and continued:
" 'Road to perdition' is a good movie and the performance of Hanks and Newman is praiseworthy. They performed their roles brilliantly."
Paul Clinton of CNN praised the movie:
"While these deeply human issues are touched upon, they've never fully explored, and that undermines the sense of greatness to watch the movie."
Roger Ebert of the "Chicago sun times" praised the movie as whole and especially commented on cinematography of the movie: "I know I admired it but I don't known if I liked it. It is cold and holds us outside." he further said: "This movie also shows the talent of new generation of actors like Jude law, Daniel Criag and the young Noah Martin."
"Look he also wrote few words about you." Mike hurriedly said to Noah.
Noah was also full of expectation because Roger Ebert's review and comments holds very much weight especially in Hollywood.
Mike read Roger Ebert's review in Noah: "Noah Martin is a new actor and this can be called his debut movie. He performed very well in the movie and his acting is also praiseworthy. Otherwise, it is very difficult for even adult actors to hold on in front of Hanks and Newman, but he still performed his role well."
Some other reviews also said: "Young teenage actor Noah Martin performed good. He has both the good appearance and acting skills."
"It's too beautiful. His appearance completely overpowers his acting."
Noah was a little dumbfounded hearing this responses. He doesn't know if it is praise or criticism. He just looked at Mike resentfully:
"is it my mistake if my appearance is too good"
"Don't mind these things, these people are just talking nonsense. You just need to know that overall it is a success."
On the other hand, reviews on "Reign of fire" were mixed. Some praised it while others others didn't. It's reviews were
not good as "Road to perdition", but they were not that bad.
Joy leydon of 'Variety' wrote: " An uncommonly satisfying post apocalyptic movie. Director Rob Bowman deftly combines an uncommonly satisfying mix of medieval fantasy, high-tech military action and 'Mad max' style misadventures."
Lisa Schwarzbaum of "Entertainment Weekly" gave the film a B grade, saying "the season could do with more grinning, spinning, un-self-important, happy-to-be-B throwback movies like this one."
Elvis Mitchell of The New York Times noted that "the movie might have been a minor classic if it had maximized its own possibilities. But until the rush wears off, the picture is as much fun as a great run at a slot machine: even when your luck runs out, you're losing only pocket change."
Roger Ebert who previously gave "Road to predition" good reviews only gave the film one star out of four, describing it as "a vast enterprise marshaled in the service of such a minute idea", adding that "the movie makes no sense on its own terms, let alone ours. And it is such a grim and dreary enterprise. One prays for a flower or a ray of sunshine as those grotty warriors clamber into their cellars and over their slag heaps."
But overall premiere of "Reign of fire" was okay.
