"The thing is, I won't. Because I know that I shouldn't."
His voice was harsh, and so was his demeanor. "But my little brother here is a death mine, Caroline. No one knows when it will be triggered."
"But what makes you so sure that it will. What if it will stay dormant along with him till eternity? Does it hurt you to even consider for once that your assumption is wrong?" She asked with an undeterred voice, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
"You really aren't afraid of me, are you?" And he tossed the apple in his hand backward, and it fell straight into the dustbin.
'Can he see what is behind him?' Caroline wondered.
His hands were sticky from the fruit, and she could see him searching for some wipes, so she offered one from her bag, but he wiped his hands on the sleeves of her jacket instead.
Peering deep into her eyes, he asked her, "Do you believe in the existence of Satan, Caroline?"
"I do now!"
