Chapter 166

As thousands of transports began landing across the planet, Axel himself had landed within the Capital city of Thessia, Praxus, where the Reapers had landed first and the last remnants of the main Asari command division were last seen. Escorting the transports were tens of thousands of fighters and bombers whose main mission was to engage Reaper fighters and escort the transports.

In addition to transports, ODSTs were being deployed to key locations on the surface to attack the Reapers from the rear and cause chaos amongst their forces. As Elite soldiers trained to never experience death dozens of times, they had ne fear and would stop at nothing to achieve their mission. Integrated into the ODST forces were the Ascendency Titans and their pilots.

The Titans themselves were effectively a one-man army went put up against the Reaper ground forces, and when supported by ODSTs and other ground forces, and opposing force would find themselves unable to contend with the speed at which the Titans maneuvered through the battlefield killing hundreds of soldiers in a matter of minutes.

As soon as his transport landed, the Honor Guards were the first to charge forward and started slaughtering the Reaper forces in the immediate area, followed by the Marines and Promethean Knights.

Following them, Axel had walked out of the transport looking at the ruins of the once great Asari Capital. Compared to when he first visited the Asari world by invitation, he couldn't even recognize the beauty it once had. But it was nothing that couldn't be rebuilt.

Returning back to the matter at hand, Omni's had updated Axel on the communication issue involving the Reapers blocking the Asari Communications around the planet. "Axel, Whatever the Reapers were using to block the Asari communications is gone, we are now able to hear all Asari communications"

"Good" replied Axel. "Broadcast a message across all channels." ordered Axel as Omni started to broadcast a message to any surviving Asari resistance forces that were still alive.

Meanwhile, Axel had found a good place to set up a command post. He had some MCUs start setting up the base while the other soldiers created a perimeter around the area and started to advance forward, clearing each building along the way.

As the base was getting set up, Axel had received a report from Omni that Matriarch Selene the leader for the entire Thessia defense force was still alive but was surrounded by two Reaper destroyers and an unknown number of Reaper ground forces.

Seeing as he was not busy, Axel decided to go himself. He boarded his transport ship and headed towards the Matriarch's location.

A few minutes later, landing a few feet away from the Matriarch's location, Axel saw possibly hundreds of thousands of Reaper forces around the area where the Matriarch was held up.

"Omni call down a squad of Titans right on top of those two destroyers alongside some ODSTs to start clearing them out" ordered Axel.

"Copy that, ODSTs in bound, ETA, 20 seconds. Titan's will be here in 50 seconds." replied Omni.

20 seconds later thousands of orbital drop pods could be seen landing in the immediate area, and ODSTs started swarming out killing any Reaper within sigh. 30 seconds after that, a squad of Titans had landed directly on top of the two Reaper destroyers. This caused the Reaper destroyers to lose their balance and fall to the ground for a moment.

Drawing their energy swords the Titans waited for the Reapers to try and fire their energy beams, then they shoved the energy swords right into that area, crippling the Reapers. As the Titans unleashed their devastating strikes, the ground shook beneath them, and Reaper forces scattered in a panic.

"ODSTs, secure the perimeter!" Axel commanded over the comms, "We need to create a safe zone for the Matriarch!"

With precision and discipline, the ODSTs moved as a cohesive unit, taking out Reaper foot soldiers and heavy units with lethal efficiency. Meanwhile, the Titans continued their assault on the fallen destroyers, their energy swords cleaving through Reaper armor as if it were paper. The once-feared machines now lay vulnerable, their defenses shattered.

Axel, taking advantage of the distraction, activated his visor's targeting system and marked the location of Matriarch Selene's last known coordinates. "Omni, keep me updated on her status. We need to get to her before the Reapers regroup."

"Understood. I'll keep scanning for her signals," Omni replied. "But there are multiple hostile signatures converging on her location. We need to move fast."

"Titans, I need you to create a path," Axel ordered, gesturing toward a cluster of Reaper forces attempting to regroup. The Titans leaped into action, their agility allowing them to navigate the battlefield with ease. They fired their energy weapons, targeting the enemies that posed the greatest threat, while the ODSTs supported them with cover fire.

"Watch your flanks!" an ODST sergeant shouted, as a group of Ravagers attempted to flank the advancing soldiers. Axel's team quickly adjusted, engaging the incoming threats while continuing to advance at the same time.

"Keep pushing!" Axel shouted, rallying his troops. The group fought their way through the mass of Reaper forces, determination fueling their every move. As they approached the ruined structure where Matriarch Selene was hiding, they saw a group of Asari waving them down.

"Matriarch Selene, we're here to extract you!" Axel yelled, rushing into the building. Inside, they found her surrounded by a small group of Asari defenders, each exhausted but resolute. The moment their eyes met, Selene nodded, her expression filled with a sense of hope because of the Ascendency's arrival.

"Thank the stars you arrived! The Reapers are relentless, but we can still fight back!" she replied, her voice strong despite the fatigue etched on her face.

"Let's get you out of here," Axel said, motioning for her to follow. As they turned to leave, they saw more transports arriving and fresh soldiers joining the battlefield. The commander who had been sent to extract them had walked up to Axel and saluted.

Axel returned the salute as the commander briefed him on the situation. "Sir, we have about 10 million soldiers descending on this location to establish control since those Reaper destroyers are gone. We have a transport already on standby for you."

Axel nodded seeing the transport standing by behind the commander, "Very good commander, make sure to secure the area to get rid of all Reapers, leave no stone unturned."

After talking with Commander, Axel proceeded to the transport with the matriarch in tow. Once back at the command post, the Matriarch and the Asari accompanying her were given a full medical evaluation and treated for any of their injuries.

Meanwhile, Axel had gone into the operations room that was set up to start monitoring the progress of the battle.
