Psionics Or The Solution

------

Planet: Tarsonis

Year:2524

Place: Confederate ??? Academy

0920 Psionics - PSI150 -TGA-A1111 - At the same time as Korhal

Preceptor Suki leaned against the front of her desk draped in an all-black kimono with white-lined ravens bleeding along its axis. "Ok listen up kid. All of you at some point, have picked up on somebody's external thoughts. You heard recruits think about killing each other, you've heard recruits think about killing preceptors...groping girls, stealing food, and so on.

But those external thoughts are nothing more than the most surface-level thoughts. Now, the more talented of you can filter through and filter out these thoughts. In fact! some of you can rip a person's deepest, darkest thoughts out of their mind.

This has prompted scientists to create the sci-screeners we all use to protect our minds. Sadly, that device can only be worn for 7 hours, any longer and it'll fry your brain. So as such. Today will be your final day to learn these skills, and if you cannot learn these skills, come tomorrow...You'll transfer out of the class and be punished. Severely!

Now, the more talented of your peers have learned this within one to two days and will not need this training. As such, they remain here, learning a skill called psionic sight while you're all transferred out of class."

Finished Suki.

Her words instilled panic into the recruits, who then leaned in waiting for her next words. "Caesar Augustus, Rishul Mehta, Victoria Matsuda, Kelly Holt, Ingrid Popovich, Lokee Hexum, Ivory Borgerson, Simon Bazir, Darron Smith... Suzi, Sarco, Lio, Mai.

If your name was not called out, gather your things and head outside. The guards will be escorting you to gym 2 shortly. And as for the rest of you, gather around. "

The remaining 30 lined up along the base of the hardwood floor. Their backs straightened, their eyes sharp, their bodies poised.

They listened intently as Suki began to read from her datapad. "Behind this desk is a metal box. Within that box is an object, your mission is to tell me what that object is. To do so you are to--fuck, these wordy instructions suck." Said Suki, flipping her datapad at the observation deck above.

Her datapad shattered, scaring the scientist back. They leaned forward staring back. She raised a finger saying nothing. Her gesture caused the kids to smile, nowadays they never smiled. "Let's continue." Smiled Suki.

"I want you kids to imagine your psionic energy gathering within your brain, visualize it traveling down slow into your eyes. Visualize beyond the desk and the box. Once you do, tell me what you see." finished Suki. She stepped out of the way as the kids began to concentrate on the desk.

She glanced towards Rishul, who scrunched his face and squinted his eyes. "Rishul, relax. You're not supposed to heat up."

Next, her eyes fell on Ingrid and Kelly, whose eyes fluttered like butterflies. "Girls, blinking won't make you do it any faster."

Then she turned her head to Caesar, who stood off in a corner, secretly glancing around the room. 'Is he studying the room's interior defenses!? How adorable, he is studying the academy's defenses. Although...that level and quality of psionic sight are clearly beyond any grade 5.'

Suki turned her head watching on, as the rest of the children struggled to see into the box. Time passed, but eventually, the first one succeeded.

"Madam Suki, I completed it." Said Rishul, raising an arm to salute her.

She nodded her head before applauding him by saying. "Well done Rishul, but you should've been faster and more controlled. If you want to serve your nation and uphold its distinction and pride, then take your time to master the basics."

Rishul nodded his head vigorously. Hanging on her every word absorbing it as if she were god itself.

Suki signed, watching him and his crew. He clenched his fist thinking she was disappointed, but she knew the truth. 'Rishul is being drugged, they all are. But he isn't, why?'

*Ring, Ring, Ring*

The bell rang, causing the kids to stop. They looked towards Suki who smiled, waving them off. She turned back to find Caesar, standing there, silently within the low-lit room.

'This boy.' Thought preceptor Suki, scratching her head. "Can I help you, Caesar?"

He nodded then pointed towards his eyes. Suki raised an eyebrow, before telling him. "You can speak you know, everybody's gone."

Caesar nodded once more before saying. "Ever since my...accident, I've struggled to control my psionic energy. At first, I thought stay calm was the key. But --."

"You couldn't maintain control over your psionic sight." Finished Suki. She was surprised he could form a sentence. Because according to the reports she read, his voice had undergone minor atrophy due to underuse.

Caesar's head bobbing up and down, confirming her supposition. Suki pointed towards the center of the room. "Take a seat."

She stood above Caesar with her cane in one hand and the metal box below it. Caesar crossed his legs, awaiting her instructions. But when he heard her next words, his eyes widened for a brief moment. "Before we begin, I need to ask. After being kidnapped, have you tried using any of your old psionic abilities?"

Caesar paused, studying her every reaction. "Yes, miss Suki." Said Caesar, trying his best to sound pleasant. His voice was hoarse and grating, but she didn't say anything.

He watched as Suki released a soft smile. Thinking, she was trying to ease his nerves. "Caesar. I have time for games. If you want my trust or require my help. You will tell the truth and nothing but the truth. If I catch you lying again, I'll submit you for testing."

Her words were like a bucket of cold water, he knew good. But he never thought she'd catch him that fast. "Now, let's try this again little boy."

"No, miss Suki. I've bothered using my psionic abilities." This time she smirked, hearing the defeat in her voice. She asked. "Are you aware of the psionic index chart?"

He nodded, watching her smirk turn into one of approval, feeling her hand run through his hair. "Good. You're smart. Continue to abuse its rating system. Now I want you to discreetly use an ability. And don't worry, your in the room's only dead zone."

She watched as he placed his hands upon his lap then began to gather energy within them. Her eyes widened watching a small vibrant dense ball of lime green energy began to gather within his hands.

'Oh, this isn't your average psionic energy. It's extremely volatile! In fact, it might put pyrokinesis to shame.' Thought Suki, glancing up at his eyes, her yellow eyes softened as a faint green hue enveloped his light grey irises. "Stop, or you'll set off the room's silent alarm." Said Suki, placing a hand on Caesar's palms.

His energy faded, causing Suki to sign in relief. Caesar stared, confused at the fact she hadn't reported him yet.

"Caesar, your situation is something unprecedented and frankly frightening. And the fact your...father did this, is a testament to his genius.

That being said if what you say is true. Keeping your emotions in check should be secondary. And personally, if that was the case. I'd rain it in with brute force and will. " Finished Suki.

Her words caused Caesar to lean back, surprised by her reasoning.

Suki laughed, gripping his hand and pulling him up. "Quiet the scientific deduction isn't it." Said Suki, limping off.

"Revolutionary," smiled Caesar.

It had been the first in years.
