As his body entered the whitish portal, a feeling of weightlessness washed over him, and his eyesight was overwhelmed by a white light.
Strangely, the blinding light didn't seem to hurt his eyes at all!
That weightless sensation lingered for a few moments before he felt the mass of his body return.
Alongside the disappearance of the weightless sensation, Cale's eyesight slowly came back.
What he didn't anticipate was that once he finally regained his vision, hotness abruptly seared through his eyes!
He hastily closed his eyes and rubbed them gently, trying to alleviate the searing pain. After several seconds, the pain gradually disappeared, and he opened his eyes again.
At first, his vision was blurred. However, as time passed by, his eyes slowly adjusted to his surroundings.
The first thing he saw was a tree near him. In his years of age, he saw thousands upon thousands of all kinds of trees. However, this normal tree appeared to be so beautiful right now.
Was it because of that white, endless space? A space that was only dyed in white color?
Indisputably, compared to the white endless space, the tree in front of him was much, much more mesmerizing!
Cale found it rather absurd to be captivated by such a normal tree, but he did. After a moment, he finally came out of his trance. The next thing he did was kneeling on the ground and caressing it with his bare hands!
Feeling the hardness of the concrete, Cale was overjoyed. In the white space, he was suspended in the air, which brought an uncomfortable sensation.
He missed standing on the mother earth's rough surface, which he felt strangely safe and comfortable.
However, upon remembering his current circumstances, Cale's joy became short-lived.
All the occasions that had happened in a short period to him were too fantasy-like!
In the past, Cale could only read such events happening in fantasy books, but now it's happening to him!
Needless to say, it all felt too surreal and fictitious!
'Honestly, it feels like I'm a protagonist in a novel.' Cale thought inwardly.
From the novels he read, most of the protagonists had some sad past like him, before embarking on a steep and arduous path, and becoming legends in the end!
'Maybe, just maybe, I'll become like them and create a legend of my own'
Realizing he was becoming too delusional, Cale clicked his tongue and erased such thoughts.
Even though there was a chance that he could become one, but the chance itself was too small, close to non-existent!
For now, he settled his mind on winning the game and avoiding such nonsensical and irrelevant ideas!
Taking a deep breath, Cale surveyed his surroundings. He looked at the left, right, down, and up, making sure he didn't miss any small details.
After a few moments, he came to an indisputable conclusion.
'I'm still in a modern world.'
The airplane flying up in the sky further verified this,
Cale found himself feeling a bit disappointed.
The fantasy-like things that happened to him just earlier, caused him to think that he would be sent to a world filled with magic or cultivation.
However, his hopes didn't die out. After all, it was still not guaranteed that there was no magic or things like that in this world!
'Based on the modern novels I read in my pastime, there should be some secret society or something like that, right?' Shaking off his wishful thought, Cale looked at the stairs that went up to the mountain in front of him.
'This is troubling. The screen didn't even tell me any tips or hints and just went to throw me here…'
Apart from giving him some vague explanations, the screen seemed to have left Cale on his own.
In any case, he was certain that the screen wouldn't just randomly send him anywhere.
The stairs in front of him might lead him to where he needed to be.
Cale was about to take his first step when the sound of the engine of a car suddenly reverberated in the vicinity.
He turned his head and saw a speeding yellow car approaching near him.
In a span of a few seconds, his brain had already formed several guesses about the passengers inside the yellow car, which he had concluded was a taxi.
The speed of his brain creating different guesses and how diverse they were had greatly surprised him!
Although he preferred to believe that he was smart, he knew deep inside his intellect was below the average of a normal teenager!
In a more simple term, he was an idiot thorough and thorough!
His low grades further proved this point.
Therefore, he was exceptionally astonished by how fast his thoughts established such cohesive and logical guesses in just a few seconds!
'Is this a perk of being a gamer?' Cale guessed and was pleasantly delighted.
After all, the future of his family depended on whether he would win this game, and quirks that could help him achieve his goal were all welcome!
Trott!
The sound of tires scratching the road woke Cale out of his stupor. He then realized that the taxi had already halted near him.
Click!
A soft sound coming from the inside of the taxi sounded and the back door slowly opened.
A brownish shoe soon appeared, tracing further back, Cale saw a white and silky-looking leg.
It was soon followed by another beautiful leg.
Pak!
Her shoes hit the concrete, creating a rather loud sound.
Soon, a figure slowly came out of the taxi,
'That is…' Cale's eyes turned wide.
What came out was a female teenager that seemed to be at the age around 16-17 years old. She had light green hair that was fashioned in unique cat ear-styled pigtails and hazel-colored eyes.
Her unique features weren't the reason Cale was so surprised.
What truly mattered was her looks that were so familiar!
She looked like a character in a particular anime he watched in the past!
Assassination Classroom!
"Arreh? This is the first time I see your face here. Are you, perhaps, a transfer student?" The green-haired girl tiptoed towards Cale with a smile plastered on her face.
Evidently, she was a bit surprised seeing Cale down the mountain. Seeing he was donned in the same uniform as she was, she quickly realized his identity.
Cale, who wasn't absolutely sure of his current identity earlier, nodded his head.
Piece by piece, he started to quickly make out whom he was---in this world.
From the green-haired girl's question, he quickly surmised that he was a transferee at the 3-E classroom and was just about to begin interacting with the characters.
That was a good thing for him. After all, he wouldn't know how he was supposed to act around them since he had no idea of his identity besides his name and status as a student.
According to his memory, the girl, whose name was Kaeda Kayano was a little antagonist of the series.
That was the reason Cale instantly recognized her.
"Hello, I'm Kayana Kaeda Nice to meet you." With a smile still on her face, Kayana Kaeda introduced herself.
Silence dawned upon them. Shortly, Kayana Kaeda's smile dropped a bit. She initiated the greetings and the introduction, but the only response she received was a small nod!
"Ayanokoji, Kiyotaka Ayanokoji, nice to meet you, too." Cale was about to blurt out his true name subconsciously but was able to stop it in time.
"Then, Ayanokoji-kun, shall we go up together?"
Cale cringed hearing someone addressed him by a different name, but he successfully stopped himself from showing it on his face.
With a nod, Cale said.
"Sure, let's go up together."
"Great!" With a cheerful response, Kayana Kaeda stepped on the stairs, followed by Cale behind.
