Tap! Tap! Tap!
Sounds of shoes clicking onto the concrete ground echoed in the surroundings as Kaeda Ayano and Cale proceeded to make their way up to the mountain.
It's been a few moments since they started to climb the stairs, and neither of them made any effort to break the silence between them.
As lively as she was, Kaeda Ayano was unable to bear the awkward atmosphere and spoke first.
"Were you surprised?" Kaeda Ayano looked at Cale, she had already made a slight opinion of him.
'He must be an introvert or a non-social type person.'
Cale, who was too engrossed in his thoughts about the future, returned to reality upon hearing the little antagonist's voice.
Even if he already had a gist of her whole question but decided to play ignorant.
He put on a bewildered expression and said.
"About…what?"
Hearing such a reply resulted in Kaeda Ayano's inward sigh. Still, with a smile on her face, she replied.
"About the separate school building on top of a mountain. Weren't you surprised to know that?"
A separate school building for students on top of a mountain, which was also quite away from the school, would surely raise the eyebrows of many people.
Such cases were rather rare.
After all, who in their right mind would let kids get educated on top of a mountain, being disconnected from the rest of their fellow schoolmates and other teachers?
Cale then remembered his future classmates.
Evidently, many parents would let such cases happen.
"Well, it did surprise me for a bit. But, there must be some background story about this separated school building atop the mountain. And I'm really curious about it." Cale gently rubbed his chin.
Frankly, Cale was perplexed at first when he first watched the initial episodes of the series.
Why would there be an isolated school building over a mountain?
Curiosity took over him, and he shortly opened his browser and browsed to find about it
After several minutes of skimming through the spoilers on the fandom, Cale had known the reason behind it, and its sad background story.
"I was interested, too! So, I did a bunch of research on its past on the internet, but I found nothing at all! It's like the whole thing about the building was wrapped in mystery!" Realizing this was a chance to create a chain of topics, Kaeda Ayano went on her way to talk about various things.
Like how windy up in the mountain, how good to feel warm yet cold breezes hitting one's skin, and many more.
Whilst Kaeda Ayano was speaking non-stop, Cale was discreetly assessing her behavior.
He knew many things about the little antagonist. Her eye-tearing past, her personality, and many more.
Consequently, he also knew that her lively and supportive personality was only a facade to hide her venomous resentment towards her target.
At least, that would be the case until the Protagonist of the series changed her through smooching.
Time passed by and before Cale could realize it, only several steps left before they could set their foot on top of the mountain.
Suddenly, Kaeda Ayano sped up and jumped on the end of the stairs, catching Cale by surprise.
She turned around and stared at him. Her eyes glinted with mischievousness.
"Hey, Ayanokoji-kun, have you ever seen a monster?" Her voice laced with mysteriousness.
Cale reacted as if he was surprised. Then, he put on a confused expression as he looked up at the little antagonist.
"Monster? What are you talking about?" Cale didn't know if he's acting was believable, but he did his best
"No spoilers, sorry but not sorry." As if satisfied by his reaction, Kaeda Ayano laughed as she turned around, leaving Cale on his
Cale looked at the place where Kaeda Ayano was previously standing and covered his face with his hands.
He cringed!
In the end, his perseverance still lacked a lot, and he couldn't take it anymore and cringe.
It was a good thing that he was able to cover his face. Otherwise, the little antagonist would see his true reaction if she returned.
Monster?
Naturally, he fully knew what she was talking about.
The teacher of the 3-E Classroom was an octopus-like creature.
Through some backstories shown in the series, Cale had gotten to know a few significant things about the octopus teacher.
The alien teacher was a previous human-like the others, but after undergoing numerous body experiments, he turned into a yellow monster.
He was also one of the feared assassins throughout the country.
"That was bad. I should train my face reactions later." Cale mumbled.
Back in the past, he never bothered to control his expressions since he had no reason to do so. After all, he was not an undercover agent that was tasked to garner information or something, neither was he a shy-type guy who would flinch and panic each time someone talked to him.
However, things had changed now.
Controlling his expressions had become vital to him.
"What are you still not coming up here? We'll be late." Kaeda Ayano's voice echoed in the distance.
Casting his thoughts aside, for now, Cale resumed treading the stairs.
A gust of chilly and warm breeze suddenly brushed on Cale's body, his clothes swayed, and his bangs swayed.
From the distance, a small dilapidated building could be seen. Cale looked around but found no trace of the little antagonist.
Clearly, she had already gone inside the building.
'Amazing. Simply amazing.' Cale thought.
Cale was feeling a little overwhelmed right now. Although he had somewhat already accepted the fact that he was now in the world of an anime series, it still caused him to feel surreal from time to time.
'I guess, I need to get familiarized with this feeling.'
If he, in a chance, won this game, he was certain that there were also games he would be forced to play in the future. Most likely, those games were going to be held in other series or maybe even novels and movies.
As such, it was essential for him to get less overwhelmed by his emotions.
"Ma, Pa, and Crystal let me show you how capable I am." Figures of his dead family members surfaced on his mind as glaring determination coursed through his entire body. Releasing a stale breath, he went towards the entrance of the building.
---
"He~He~He~. the class will surely become more lively with another student coming in." Atop the wide branch of an enormous tree several minutes away from Cale, a tall humanoid creature which had the resemblance of an octopus, stared at Cale's figure. Chuckling, his entire body disappeared.
