Chapter 23 : My Betrothed

I felt sad over the following days, wondering if that would truly be the last time I would ever see Kain. On the bright side, he and William were safe, and they had each other.

Fortunately, there wasn’t time for me to be sentimental, because I was put on a tour with the king and the queen.

“Your Majesty, it sounds like overkill for us to travel around, doesn’t it?” I asked my mother, Queen Martha, trying to see if there was a way to get it over with all at once. “Wouldn’t it be better for us to have one big party here?”

“Oh we certainly will do that as well, for your birthday, but in the meantime, several countries are dying to introduce you to their courts and their families. They have extended multiple invitations, and we have been pushing them off until you’ve had enough time to settle into your new role.”

I understood what she meant—now that I was properly trained, it was time for the world to meet Princess Loral.
