Contract with the devil

Demon Lord was always ahead of his enemies. Even Princess of Trikuta with her exceptional abilities could not uncoil the knot of thoughts in his mind.

But out of nowhere, she asked him to fulfil three wishes.

One to free the Kingdom of Trikuta from Mara and Demon Lord should protect citizens from enemies.

Secondly, she wants hundred warriors of the indomitable army of the dead as her slaves.

Before she could ask for third wish, she was lost for a moment in thoughts and decided to claim her third wish in the dire situation.

Her wishes were so simple to convince Demon Lord who loved the things complicated.

So he proposed a better plan with higher difficulties. To make it more pleasing he put his life and Mekhala's freedom as the reward of this death game.

If she refused the offers, he had his ways to settle the issues.

Mekhala from her past experience knew demons were deceitful. She was aware of the catastrophe to be caused in the name of this fair game. Left with no choice, she accepted his offer.

A fair game! Fair was just a delusional word he used to mask his not so good deals.

The game of Kalhar included few rules. Rules all in his favour.

First and foremost being the year of freedom for Mekhala but in this duration she should not harm any demons, in return Kalhar will keep her kingdom safe.

Next, after the completion of a year of freedom she has to live five years in disguise. If caught by Demon Lord she has to accept her defeat.

These condition came with an added advantage to Mekhala. In these span of six years, if she managed to kill or at least conquer Kalhar, she could get back her kingdom along with her freedom.

A spell casted by Kalhar protected Mekhala from the demon powers. He assured her, the only one to defeat her in this game would be him.

What was he planning for a fun game?! A game of his death?! Or The last breath of Mekhala!

Coming to the agreement Kalhar left announcing the start of the game. Seeing him depart Mekhala sighed in relief. Soon this relief was replaced with anxiety.

"A contract was made with the devil. Hell knows what path it will lead to!"

She cursed herself for being reckless to invite her own death to the door. Until now it was just a greedy, dumb low key demon, who she could not handle and was imprisoned for five years straight.

At least he was kind enough leave her alive but now the things are different. The one she is dealing with is well versed in combat skills, literature, greedy but not dumb.

A foolishness of her can make her experience living hell. But she felt strange about him.

He was not a kind of person to waste his time on impressing a woman. May be he was creating a delusional fair game to execute his evil plans.

Letting go of all the worry Mekhala fell asleep. It was an exhaustive day for her.

There was a suspicious conversation taking place in Crystal palace. Female voice asking a male,

"What?! What kind of silly game is this? You are not a kid anymore. Don't forget your aim"

"Mother, have faith in me. I know what I am up to. I will surely get my hands on those stones of creation"

Time skips to next day

Walls of the Trikuta palace could hear some painful screams and a laugh of victory as well.

Mekhala the Moon Goddess, her name, desires, vengeance was all just a story left for future generation.

Mara or Demon Lord who was the culprit? Considering both had their reasons to kill the princess.

Demon Lord was deceitful but not the one to go against his words.

Mara had no such compulsions.

This news reached Crystal Palace, Kalhar was boiling with rage. Mara was presented in the Demon court. Even before he explained himself, he was beheaded by the sword of dark fire.

In the act few drops of blood splashed the face of Kalhar. Cleaning his face with water, ascending his throne he ordered his ministers.

"Free Trikuta from our people. Restore its prosperity. As for him feed his body to my pets".

Kalhar was about to leave the court but he turned to face his ministers once again. A warning like lion's roar left his mouth.

"Any one…any one human, demon or god coming in my way shall meet their end"
