Chapter Five

Once Ash made it to the bottom of the stair case she was swept away, Everyone wanting to dance with her. Either they just didn't know who she was or they just didn't care to know. While she danced with everyone that wanted a dance her mind was elsewhere. On that lovely smell of cut grass and thunderstorms. Who was he? Where was he. Her mind raced. Her wolf was going insane, trying to figure out where he was.

"May I have this dance?" a kind voice said behind her, as she turned to find her brother standing behind her. She laughed.

"Of course good sir." She said taking his outstretched hand. The twirled and whirled around the dance floor, just like they used to when they were pups. Ash couldn't help but smile.

"What's got your mind captured? "Seth asked looking down at her.

"I think my mate is here." She stated, "I scent something. Something my wolf is going crazy over" She stated, looking a little worried. "What if he don't like me" She said looking down. Seth looked down at her letting go of her hands and grabbing her face between his hands.

"You listen here, Ash. He will love you, he would be a fool not too." Seth stated, giving her a look as to say give it up. She just sighed. It wasn't something she could help. She was let down by so many people in her life it was hard to think positive sometimes. She shook her head, she told herself she was going to do better, she grabbed Seth's hands and started dancing again, they danced for one more song before he went off to his mate leaving her alone.

Ash walked around the dance floor, taking in all the dancers and happy faces. She knew everyone loved a good ball. She enjoyed the fact she could wear a mask. Ash grabbed a cup of water off the refreshment table and started to take small sips. Once she was done she threw it in the bin next to the table and just stood there people watching. Then blackness ensued, the music was still going, but everything was black. She heard some screams coming from the visitors on the sudden darkness of the ballroom. Her heart raced.

"What is on the go." She muttered to herself, not wanting to move. Her senses were in over drive, she could feel the presence of someone who was not there moments ago. Her wolf going absolutely mad, wanting to get out.

"Calm down" Ash whispered to her wolf. Like that would do any good, she sighed. Then the smell hit her. Cut grass and Thunderstorms, it overwhelmed her nose, her whole being. She knew it her mate was close. So close, she could reach out and touch him she thought. Her heart pounded in her chest. She couldn't believe that she was so close yet couldn't see him or even hear where he was too, just scenting him.

"ASH...ASH" She could hear her mother yell in a panic, from the other side of the ballroom, everything had gone quiet now, the music was turned on.

"I am fine mom" She yelled back.

Ash jumped as hand touched the lower part of her back.

"You sure about that little wolf." A voice purred in her ear, the voice sent tingles down her spine as he nipped at her ear.

Sorry it is a bit short, I have a bit on the go today but I really wanted to get something out! hope you enjoy.
