The experts that kept an eye on the battle knew it was not that Philimon and the other three knights stationed at the north wall were weak, it was just that their skill set and abilities were not suited for dealing with the tier 6 dragon. With Badi's attacks that could bypass physical defense and Jamal's absolute ability that made it easier to cut anything, the hope of the human knights defeating the dragon had been rekindled, that is, as long as the dragon did not kill them first.
