Chapter 5

This would hopefully not be too horrid as I had to psych myself up before going anywhere near the tv that had the movie Aladdin currently paused on it as he was about to enter the Cave of Wonders.

I was kinda scared but I knew what I had to do. I knew what I wanted to do, and though I was loath to take such risks there were too many good reasons to do so and that was for myself and the girls and whoever else I liked in the future to survive and not get snapped from existence by a purple potato.

With that in mind I was dressed in all black to hopefully escape notice for as long as possible not that it really mattered honestly, though I went with a gun on my hip just incase and a black backpack of simple design, it's most important feature was enough room to stuff the lamp and a clip to keep it snug to my chest so it doesn't fall off if the carpet does crazy maneuvers should it allow me to actually ride it or something.

"Alrighty let's get this over with I guess!" I say in a false cheery voice that probably didn't convince anybody. Even the kid, Becky, was looking at me with doubt in her expression. That hurts kid!

With that I let the movie play to the point I wanted to and once my opportune spot is in view my finger touches it on the television and my power does the rest, wham bam thank you ma'am, one moment I'm in the living room and the next I'm in the cave of wonders pretty much on the other side of the stepping stone bridge or whatever you want to call it that Aladdin initially had to navigate.

I was pretty much jogging through things, I didn't think I was noticed as I never heard any yelling or anything so I wasn't going as fast as I could be and was trying to just keep my footing as I made some haste. I was doing my best to ignore the glittering treasures all around me, gold, gems and baubles of all kinds… I can understand why Aladdin almost grabbed something, it's almost a compulsion.

Honestly I'm just glad the cave didn't implode around me as I entered this world, after all only one technical person is supposed to be here right? But then again Abu entered as well and the monkey picking up the giant ruby was enough to ignite the cave in lava so who really knows the rules?

Eventually I made it to the main room where I could see the giant pillar that had the lamp placed upon and damn was that high… and all this glittery treasure! I just sighed and closed my eyes trying to ignore the less than important things for the moment and concentrate on the goal.

It took me a few moments to find where the carpet was located as I was walking forward toward the giant pillar of wish making. Eventually as I was walking past it I didn't give it any attention as it was motionless but just a very few seconds later it basically started spasming and pointing towards its rear when I looked at it, where a fairly decent sized rock had it trapped.

"Helloooo magic carpet? Didn't think such things were real but then again look where I am I guess." I just looked at it for a moment and sighed, leaving it would be cruel not that I would in the first place as I had need of it but I wouldn't leave it even if I didn't need it as I don't believe in being needlessly cruel for no reason.

"Alright, let's free you little guy! Maybe you could help me for a few minutes as well also hopefully, if you can really fly with a person on you?" It just nodded vigorously up and down as I walked up to the large rock pressing my back to it and pushing it up as much as I can to release the fairly intricate rug. It really was a work of art when you took a good look at it.

Once released it flew around happily like it did in the movie for finally being free before coming back to me and hovering at step level for me to get on. Huh with this, it should be easy enough to claim the lamp, grab a piece of treasure to activate the destruction and get to a safe spot like Aladdin(even if his was completely luck or plot armor)did or simply exit this world if needed.

"Alright carpet, please take me to the top of that pillar to the lamp!" I was getting kinda excited but I do wish this carpet had a seat belt or something! Even just gliding it gave me an uneasy feeling like I will fall off at any moment though the experience alone was exhilarating.

There were no obstacles, the carpet just flew me up to the lamp with no fuss and when I picked it up, quickly securing it in my backpack and clipping the latches so it wouldn't come out before strapping it back to myself, nothing had happened, no scary voice about never seeing the light of day or anything.

To be fair I was going to copy the dumb monkey and find that stupidly large and beautiful and shiny ruby, as Aladdin didn't kick it off the pillar, I knew it was only a few feet below the top so I had the carpet circle it slowly for just a bit until I saw it's glittering awesomeness…. I'm sure one of the girls will appreciate it even if we could never sell it or show it off too much anyways.

I quickly unzipped one of the side pockets without even taking off the pack, grabbed the gem and stuffed it in the bag before quickly zipping back up.

"Quickly carpet back towards the entrance of the cave! I tell it before the voice even bellows throughout the cave a few seconds later. It was honestly an intimidating growl and voice, I give it a ten out of ten really. The carpet seemed slightly panicky as it was dodging falling rocks but I was also calling out directions to turn to avoid shit.

I could already see a horrified Aladdin and monkey running for their lives back the way they came, they honestly hadn't made it very far yet so I guess they were strolling or whatever bullshit would explain their plot armor as they were practically half way back and were well ahead of the lava and should make it back in time I think.

After that I no longer gave them any thought and it became a game of dodging the falling rocks as I didn't want to get squashed and turned in to red goo. The carpet knew the game, we were not looking to exit, just to find a safe harbor until the shaking stopped and everything calmed down enough to find a landing spot.
