After successfully winning his first battle, Dave quickly sheathed his sabers as he walked out of the platform.

"So what rank do you think he is?" asked Long with a prideful expression.

"Old Long, what just happened now made me realize how blind I am in picking students compared to you," sighed Lawrence as his body became weak on the chair he was sitting on.

Well, Lawrence might seem weak on the chair but not Manuel. His expression is filled with ecstasy as he said.

"Although he is in Rank D, am not too sure about the phase he's in just based on this battle so I can guess he is in the upper tier of the rank".

But his expression immediately changed into shock after getting a reply from Long.

"He is approaching the peak phase of Rank D with his 1,700 mana"

Back on the platform, Dave is quietly seated in the participant area while the competition was ongoing.

'I need to be in my best form before my next match so that I can be more perfect with my martial arts and be more flexible in executing spells'

Dave thought as he silently meditated with his eyes closed. But he didn't know that a cute 10-year-old girl is staring at him curiously.

This girl has long red hair that reaches her waist which matches her red pupils, she wore the Academy special uniform which makes her a participant in the event. After staring at Dave for some minutes without getting a response, she finally speaks.

"Hello?"

'She just can't let me be ' thought Dave as he replied while opening his eyes.

"How can I help you?"

"Am Viona," said The girl as she extends one of her hands while smiling radiantly.

'I didn't ask for your name!' thought Dave with a surprised expression on his face. But after seeing Viona still extending her hands toward him with a radiant smile for some minutes, He sighed while extending his hand to shake hers.

"Dave"

After finally receiving a response from Dave, Viona's smile became more radiant as she shakes Dave's hand vigorously while saying.

"Although I didn't see you through this first year, I hope we can get along well".

"Didn't your parents teach you not to talk to strangers?".

As soon as Viona heard the voice of the one who had just spoken, her expression became cold as she answered.

"My parent's teaching or not teaching me not to talk to strangers has nothing to do with you"

When Dave saw the one that was talking to Viona, he suddenly had a solemn expression as he thought.

'The inevitable has finally happened'

The person that just talked to Viona was Jake Turner, he had been observing Dave ever since he came back from the platform. Although Jake got irritated about Viona interacting with him, he still managed to keep calm. But after seeing Viona shaking hands with Dave, he exploded with anger as he quickly decided to interfere with their interaction.

"Oh no, I wasn't referring to you, my dear. I am talking to this newcomer here" said Jake while pointing at Dave with a smug look.

"How dare you–" said Viona before she got interrupted by Dave.

"Sorry to ask but is there any lady in your family named Giselle?" asked Dave with a questioning gaze.

Although Jake got confused by the sudden question Dave just asked, he still asked with arrogance.

"Hmph, since you know my elder sister then you should know that we aren't someone you can mess with"

But Dave's reply immediately made him sour.

"Wait. you are telling me that I shouldn't mess with someone that nearly got trashed by sir Hutton in a shabby market a year ago"

"Pfft. Hahaha"

Unable to hold back her laughter from the insult Dave gave to Jake, Viona immediately exploded with laughter.

"You..."

"Winner of the 7th matchup of the competition goes to Tony Brahms. The students for the last matchup of the first round should come to the platform"

After hearing the referee calling out the students for the last matchup out to the platform, Jake suddenly smirked as he said.

"Looks like I need to show a glimpse of how strong I am for you to know who you are messing with"

"I don't care how strong you are. Besides, you are the only competitor that has entered my eyes so far"

"Ugh..."

After being speechless from what Dave just said, he slowly walked into the platform with a wronged expression.

"So I don't enter your eyes?" asked Viona while pouting.

'What's up with that expression' thought Dave as he said.

"Yeah. He is the strongest among the students participating so he is naturally the only one entering my eyes"

"Ugh..."

After being speechless by what Dave said, she silently sighed as she thought.

'Looks like we got another arrogant scion among us'
