POV: Ash
Location: Northern Empire
Humans could be cruel, not only to other humans but to animals as well.
Me and Lula searched the eastern forest but we only found a mountain of animal corpses, the culprit nowhere to be found.
Standing on our first day in the Northern forest, the pungent smell of rotten corpses brought us to the center of the forest.
The piled-up corpses reached a height of over thirty meters—in a forest where trees averaged a hundred meters tall, far shorter than the trees in the Garden of Fairies.
Lula was floating next to me, her hands covering her mouth out of shock. In front of us, corpses of wild brown bears stack on one another, each corpse is mutilated, some have their guts hanging outside while others have their heads missing.
The only clue we were left with was the huge bite marks present in most of the corpses, signifying their struggle with some kind of a beast.
