Chapter 33: A Mentor

Scathach stabbed the air and red tendrils of mana immediately went towards Mordred. He scanned them instantly with his silver eyes and lightning dropped from the skies.

She smirked as Mordred prevented himself from being chained down, but her spear is not one to miss.

"Gae bolg alternative!" She threw the red spear like a javelin with all her might. Even cratering the ground as she stomped her foot when she threw it.

Mordred had just moments to spare as he concentrated Caliburn's energy and it formed a white blade of divine aura.

He swung it down right at the red spear that was coated with a thick, crimson aura. Wanting to tear through anything that was on its way.

'No way, temporal distortions?' Mordred could feel it suddenly slip by his sword due to it being too strong to simply pierce through.

He was shocked when the demonic spear appeared right in front of his chest. 'Let us see if you can defend against that Mordred. I will heal any wounds anyway.' Scathach licked her lips in excitement.

She never thought that she would throw her spear at a kid. Yet there she was, using it against someone that isn't even a percent of her total age.

But she was definitely surprised with what happened next. Her spear just stopped in place. "Primordial runes as well?" She was mistaken, thinking that the magic of dragons were the same.

"That's a secret." Mordred sweated as he poured in mana to impose his will on the spear so it could stop. A little cut on his chest was the result. Stopping it before he could truly test Grendel's durability.

Mordred then threw it right back at her with his full strength. Making compressed air bombs accelerate it to the maximum as they exploded behind the spear.

Before Scathach could catch it, the spear was hit by Kusanagi's lightning and she was pleasantly surprised by the small hit on her.

"That was some good control and skill on your part. If I was weaker, that would definitely incapacitate me." Scathach grinned at him, thinking that his senses for battle was top notch. And he was still so young.

She shook her hand to rid her muscles of the stiffness. Mordred sighed, thinking that it would at least be more effective.

"You truly are strong, then let us test our mettle against each other." Morded disappeared as a black trace of light and Scathach's eyes glowed crimson.

They clashed once again, but the difference from earlier was glaring. Scathach quickly maneuvered her spear and stabbed on his offhand where the Kusanagi is.

Mordred had to quickly dodge it so he won't have a hole on his arm and he stomped on the ground.

They were suddenly trapped in a very narrow corridor made of stone.

"Good try, but you know that I can stab things right?" Scathach pointed her spear at him and started to stab him repeatedly. Her arms and spear were a red blur.

Clicking his tongue, Mordred thought she would be a bit slower than that. So he stepped backwards and breathed in deeply.

His breath attack devoured the whole area in front of him with pure heat. The earth turning into molten rock before it expanded quickly and exploded. Raining lava everywhere.

He continued pouring his mana into his attack and the land of shadows formed a gorge as the beam sundered the earth.

Mordred waited for her next move, and he saw that she used primordial runes. The area around her got shielded by it and she nodded at him.

"Such destructive power, but it needs to be more concentrated to pierce through my barrier." Scathach smirked at him.

"I'll pierce through you alright." Mordred squinted his eyes and he poured mana on his blades.

Abandoning tactics, he remembered what is the most important thing Mordred received from Grendel besides his mana core. His killer instinct.

Changing his flow into a reactive style. Scathach went wide eyed as Mordred dodged and weaved through her strikes.

'I might be holding back, but I would've died ten times over by now if I faced these kinds of attack when I was his age.' Scathach smiled and Mordred also grinned.

He abandoned complex strategies and just enjoyed the fight.

"Hahaha! Such talent! So much raw potential! Show me more!" Scathach knew how to counter such monsters. She fought gods that have foresight after all.

With her intent, she coupled it with her movements. Scathach's mastery over her body is next to none. So she twitched her muscles and Mordred could feel that she was going to attack in dozens of ways.

His head hurt for a moment due to the amount of information he got and Scathach stabbed his stomach.

Mordred formed a magical shield before it hit him, but he was still sent flying. A small hole appearing on his abdomen as he stood up and shook his head.

"As expected of a master combatant." Mordred grinned, his stomach knit itself together and Scathach got excited.

"Good! Good! I hate weaklings that finish in one stroke!" Scathach charged at him.

Mordred tried to copy her moves, but his control over his body was lacking. So he supplemented it with youjutsu, illusory movements filled with his intent attempted to throw off Scathach's flow.

"Illusions of that level..." Scathach stabbed everything in front of her with blinding speed. Mordred groaned as he was filled with holes.

"Are not effective against me!" Scathach kicked him and he skipped on the ground like a pebble.

"Then brute force!" Mordred flew towards her like a bullet and he slashed with his swords. Upon impact, Mordred increased the explosive power of his muscles with reinforcement.

Scathach met it head on and she felt her knees buckle as the ground turned into a crater.

Mordred swung again. And this time, she redirected the force of his blows with a parry.

"Overwhelming might can be redirected easily! Mix it up!" Scathach instructed unconsciously because she was having a lot of fun.

"Magic!" Mordred roared and an oscilattory wave hit her dead on, not expecting such a dangerous attack coming due to her enjoying the fight.

She could feel her organs tremble due to the vibrations and Scathach coughed up blood.

"Good! WHAT A GOOD WARRIOR YOU ARE!" She immediately used a rune that made her regenerate.

Right after she recovered, dozens of magic circles appeared around her.

She grinned at his viciousness and a storm of spells rained down on her.

"Concentrate, make it thinner! Stronger!" Mordred breathed in deeply and he roared. A thin laser hit the defensive rune in the middle of the barrage of magic.

Mordred then started panting, awaiting the results. After the dust settled, Scathach formed multiple barriers and strengthened them by applying runes on them to amplify it to the maximum.

"Hahaha! Mordred Pendragon, you... Are truly a great warrior already. I announce that you are worthy." Scathach smiled at him and Mordred blinked.

"You will take me as a student?" He catched his breath and his body turned back to normal.

"Call me master, I expect you to be the very best warrior that will turn the world upside down." Scathach ruffled his hair and he gave her a determined smile.

"I am a king of knights master, my ambitions have never been seen in history. I will lead humanity so the supernatural won't ever treat them like trash." Mordred stabbed Caliburn on the ground and he was releasing a regal aura even though he was spent.

"Good words Mordred..." She grinned at his ambition.

"I will be expecting you to come here daily. The best does not rest, or the gods will trample on you." Scathach planned on turning him into a godslayer, just like her.

And he would surpass her. Her heart started beating faster. Imagining his potential getting realized.

"Master, can I bring my kin here? They wield godslaying weapons and they will help me realize my ambition. If you don't want to, then I shall never return. They are my treasure, my pride and joy." Mordred looked at her seriously and Scathach rubbed her chin.

Mordred is the one that she will raise to fulfill her desire. An unparalleled warrior that will kill her.

If he wants some others to be her students. Then it is fine, she has already took in one again. What's a couple of more?

"Then bring them with you, if they laze around. I will not accept them." Scathach warned him and he nodded.

"Thank you for your generosity, master. I have a request though. Do you remember my words earlier?" He tilted his head and Scathach tried to recall.

She shook her head and he pointed at her chest. "Can I poke your breasts? I tried it with my friend. She made a noise, I want to know if yours is different." Mordred asked with a straight face.

Scathach blinked. 'This brat really is shameless...' She couldn't help but snort at him.

"Only if you defeat me, you can do whatever you want after that." She wasn't lying, but she wasn't telling the truth either.

Because she would die at that fated day. "Thank you, can I squeeze your butt too? It must be nice and firm." Mordred eyed her and her face twitched.

"Shut up and bring your friends here." She kicked him and he shrugged. "You did say I can do whatever I want, so that's a yes." He teleported away and Scathach rubbed her temples.

"I think I just signed up to something that I will regret. But there's no turning back now. Morded Pendragon... You will be the ultimate warrior that will finish what Cu couldn't." Scathach had a pleased smile on her face.

Mordred appeared back in Asgard and he continued his lessons with Odin. Learning about primordial runes and of course, the truth of the world.

Meanwhile, his kin were trying to learn everything they can. Mordred also asked about Niddhog, but Asgard's records just said that he had venom that could even harm Yggdrasil's roots.

Not to the point that it was dangerous and the world tree would collapse, but one of its massive roots were poisoned by Niddhog and the Asgardians painstakingly cleansed it.

After the lessons in the morning, Mordred then took everyone to his room. "I have to announce something." He was happy and all smiles.

They listened intently at his next words. "I got us a teacher that will definitely make everyone stronger. Stronger than you can imagine." Mordred grinned and they blinked.

"Isn't Tiamat giving us a pretty good regimen?" Lavinia raised her hand and he nodded.

"Indeed, mom has trained us well. But she is a dragon since birth. Mom doesn't know how to use weapons. Be creative in her usage of magic, and other skills that humans hone that dragons don't." Mordred remembered his battle with Scathach.

Tiamat is much more of an overwhelming force that would ram against you. If you can survive her onslaught, you will have an easy time against her. Or any kind of dragon really.

They prefer to bulldoze through their enemies with pure power. That's what they embody as the apex life forms.

But humans who have reached that place, which is Scathach. As far as Morded knows, she is the only human to ever reach the peak. A mortal capable of slaying gods. And due to her immense strength, transcended into the divine realm.

She is so outrageous that in the long history of the Longinus appearing. No human has ever managed to kill a god with their own strength only.

Even the godslaying weapons that Yahweh created didn't give birth to godslayers. Scathach was just built different.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go to our new teacher and she will make us even stronger!" Vali had a wide grin on her face.

"Slow down there Vali, what will we be learning Mordred?" Dulio was curious. Not everybody is accomplished in magic. And some of them were magic types.

"Everything, she is well rounded in everything. Master will bring us to new heights, come on. Let's introduce you guys to her." Mordred teleported them to the land of shadows.

The sacred gear wielders subconsciously released theirs to protect themselves from the aura of death around the place.

Meanwhile, the others flared their mana so that the shadows won't claim them.

They appeared right in front of Scathach. And the unparalleled warrior raised a brow at the crowd in front of her.

"The majority is the same age as you Mordred... Are you sure that they would survive my training?" Scathach raised a brow.

Lavinia was the oldest one among the kids group. While Masaomi and Cleria were too old. Scathach frowned and Mordred assured her.

"Do not worry master, what if I told you. That Masaomi and Cleria here were incredibly weak a few years ago? Now, they are quite strong no?" Mordred pointed at the couple.

They were unnerved by the sharp gaze of Scathach. She analyzed their mana, muscles, and durability at a glance. She was then satisfied with Mordred's explanation.

If they did get that strong in just a few years, they have talent to be great.

"And they all started at the bottom, except Lavinia who had some training as a mage. The majority of them has sacred gears, artifacts that give them a special ability." Mordred introduced the others and they puffed their chests in pride.

"Hmph, I will be the judge of that. Let us start your training, shall we?" Scathach grinned at them and they thought she was scarier than Tiamat.

But they quickly found their resolve and accepted the training that she would put them in.
