Demon King Ascension System

If you don’t know anything, you might think Blake had a perfect life. Good-looking face that made everyone turn their heads, an athletic physique, photographic memory and a good head that let him ace all of his exams, and also a kind heart to prop it all up. But you couldn’t be more wrong as in a world where even a three-year-old kid could use mana, Blake was one of the unfortunate ones who couldn’t utilize the magical power that enabled humans to break past their limits and defeat the powerful demons that used nether instead of mana to cast their own demonic spells. Looks of disdain, mockeries, and even straight-up bullying were not an uncommon occurrence for him as he had to deal with them every single day. One day, the bullies went too far and almost killed him. The pent-up rage and hatred in his heart peaked up as he remembered the faces of his bullies that had beaten him half to death. He thought he would finally die when his head was suddenly struck by a severe headache and his eyes went dark. But never did he expect when he regained his consciousness he would find a pair of horns on his forehead, sharp claws on the tip of his fingers, and jet black skin covering his body from head to toe. Follow Blake’s journey as he became the master of the nether and demonic spells, climbing the ranks of the demon realm as he gathered his own demon followers, and finding out the real truth veiled in his home world while creating legends for himself both in the demon world and in the world where he came from. ====== *Cover is not mine, if you are the owner and want me to take it down, just contact me, and I will do so.

Basic Earth Elemental Spells

"Veraaa!! Are you out here?" Blake shouted the moment he entered Vera's isolated space.

But after hearing no answer after shouting once again, Blake guessed that Vera was probably still in her basement. So he decided to walk down the stairs and arrived in front of the basement door.

Blake knocked on the wooden door a few times and waited for about a few seconds before opening the door slowly. Vera had told him before that if there was no answer when he knocked, he could just go in as long as he didn't make any loud noises and disturb her, so he did just that.

"Excuse me…" Blake whispered when he walked inside the basement room.

Just like any basement he could find in any house back on earth, Vera's basement was also filled with all kinds of stuff. Rows of shelves lined up beside the basement's walls filled with unorganized items that Blake didn't know what they were used for.

And after following the line of shelves, Blake finally found the person he was looking for. At the end of the room, a large wooden table that could easily fit 4, A3 size paper, and behind the wooden table was a beautiful humanoid demoness that was scribbling non-stop at a piece of paper, seemingly unbothered by all the mess around her nor the existence of another demon that had just arrived in the room.

Blake then slowly walked over towards her while watching his steps to make sure he didn't step on anything and not make any unnecessary noises.

The basement room was quite vast and there was also another section of the room where Vera could test out the new spells she created without worrying about anything being destroyed, but it didn't take Blake very long to finally arrive at the demoness' side.

He wanted to call out to her and ask her about the earth elemental spell demonic runes, but he decided to stay silent for a bit as he took his time to stare at the beautiful demoness' side profile.

Living together with her for a while, Blake had already understood that Vera looked beautiful no matter from which angle he saw her. But now that she was fully focused on working on something, it was a new wonderful sight that was worth it for him to gaze upon for a while.

Unfortunately for Blake though, he wasn't able to take in the sight for too long as Vera had actually noticed his presence for quite some time.

"Do you want anything, Blake?" She spoke while still focused on scribbling on the paper in front of her.

Hearing Vera's voice, Blake quickly coughed and regained his focus before saying, "Vera, I want to learn about other elemental runes besides the darkness element."

When she heard what Blake wanted, Vera finally stopped moving her hands and stopped scribbling on the piece of paper in front of her.

'Hmm… He already proved himself to be very proficient in creating rune formations, and with his unbelievably sharp memory, he only needed a glance to memorize all the other runes.' She began thinking to herself.

'I thought I would introduce him to the other runes later while I teach him how to use the other demon's blood to create rune formations, but I guess he was bored already with the current knowledge that he got. I guess it's okay letting him get used to all the other runes first before teaching him how to use them in a rune formation later.'

She then decided,

"Okay, I can give you a few books about the other basic elements for you to study right now. But you have to wait a little bit more before I can teach you how to use the other demon's blood to use in a rune formation, is that alright?"

"Yes. Just the runes would be fine." Blake replied.

Vera then reached out to her dimensional pouch and grabbed two books from there. One book was about the list and explanation of the basic runes for the other basic elements such as water, fire, earth, and wind while the other book was her own notes about how to combine one element with each other in a rune formation so that they could work together.

"Thanks, Vera!" Blake then nodded his head before grabbing the two books from Vera's hand.

"I will take a look at them now," Blake said while taking a last glance at Vera's face before going out of the basement and heading straight to the colorful garden to read and memorize the books first.

Blake then sat on a simple chair that he had created with bamboo-like plants, which resulted in a quite comfortable chair despite there being no cushion on it. He sat comfortably on it before opening the basic runes book and started reading from page one.

The content of the book might seem like there were incomprehensible lines and symbols written everywhere when compared to the letters that Blake usually used on earth, but Blake was able to read those assemblies of lines and symbols as if they had been his first language. He didn't remember ever learning about such language, but it seems the system had done something to him that enabled him to understand the demon language from the very first second he arrived in the demon world, hence why he could talk fluently with Vera the first time they met each other.

Blake then spent about 10 minutes going through each book that Vera had just given him and after he had memorized all the content of the book, Blake put the books into his dimensional pouch before going out of Vera's isolated space to test them out.

Blake traveled about 50 steps away from the isolated space before he stopped at a decent-sized clearing where the trees weren't as dense as in the other area.

Blake then put the image of the basic runes that he had just memorized from Vera's book, Blake then began putting nether into his index finger and began drawing one of the most basic earth elemental runes listed in the book.

As it was his first time ever drawing it, Blake's movement wasn't as fast as when he drew the darkness runes and it took him about 2 whole seconds to draw the simple earth spell runes.

And despite it being his first time and it took him twice the usual amount of time to draw the runes, the result was not disappointing as in the next second after the runes flashed and disappeared into thin air, a single earth spike appeared from the ground in front of him and it didn't stop thrusting upward until it was a head taller than Blake's height.

Seeing he had succeeded in casting his first-ever earth elemental spell, Blake cheered in his heart as he fist-pumped into the air before starting to cast the next earth elemental spell.

He repeated the same sequence, but with different runes, and this time, an earth wall with the same height appeared next to the earth spike. And following the momentum, Blake drew another different rune, and this time, a huge hole appeared on the ground beneath the earth wall and the earth spike, making the two earth constructs fall into the 2-Blake-deep hole.

"I can really use the earth's elemental runes…" Blake muttered as he saw the earth constructs and the large hole in front of him.

It didn't really occur to him before how limited his spells would be if he was only able to use the darkness spells since Blake thought that even being able to cast spells in the first place was already a great blessing for him.

But now that he was actually able to cast the three earth spells and it was possible to combine the darkness and earth spells together, Blake began to realize that just being able to use two different elements was already giving him a massive advantage over a demon that was only capable of using one element. With more spells, he would be more versatile in his combat, and he could mix and match one spell with the other to create his own original spell that suited to deal with various situations where he might be thrown into in the future.

"But these runes were really too simple… It's not even at the same level as casting tens of darkness tendrils to capture an enemy. These spells were pretty much the equivalent of creating a single darkness tendril to stab upward." Blake thought as he recalled the runes and earth spells written on Vera's books.

"I can't do much with these very basic runes…"

And after successfully mastering the three earth elemental runes after only about 50 minutes, Blake decided to come back to the basement and ask Vera whether she had more complicated runes that he could study as a reference to create his own original spell.
