29. It's Official

"May I know why you asked for only a year?", Yun Lui asked. It's been a week now. He and Muchen have come to the first meeting between him and Papa Jin.

"Nothing really. It's just that I believe by a year, the business would have flourished so much and will need a bigger company to run it. I do not think that I will have the right resources and connections enough to do that.", Papa Jin said.

"Oh, okay. I believe you've read through the documents I gave your wife, since you returned yesterday?"

"Here, I already signed them. I was thinking that since the business papers will be ready in three week's time, why don't you start with my orders while we wait for the packaging and branding?"

"I'll love that."

"Here, check this out. If it's okay for you, then we'll talk about how to pay for the 70% down payment as promised.", Papa Jin said. He placed a document with his orders and their costs. Yun Lui had already listed the pricing of the products in the documents he left with his wife, so he calculated his total costs himself.

"I'm okay with these orders.", Yun Lui said.

"It's as stipulated in the contract. Now let's discuss the payment. I don't think it safe to carry huge sums of money so I work with a guild which takes care of it for me.", Papa Jin placed a money order before Yun Lui.

"If you're already associated with a guild, then take this to your guild for them to clear it on your behalf. But if not, then you'll have to go to my guild to get your money paid to you yourself, which I wouldn't advise. I'm sure your partner here will understand what I mean by that.", he said referring to Muchen. Because he was an official, he will get what he meant.

"So we're done here, anything else?", Papa Jin asked and Yun Lui shook his head.

I will expect my goods in four weeks then. Have a great weekend. He and his wife escorted them to their gates before separating.

"Brother, do you know what he meant by what he had said?" Yun Lui asked Muchen as they were heading towards their family guild.

"Yes but you have no such problem. Every merchant now uses their guild for huge transactions to avoid thieves robbing their monies and it's more convenient.

You don't need to carry huge boxes of coins to make payments when a small paper could do exactly the same. The use of a guild makes it simpler. They do not always have to carry real money between them.

They do this by transferring debts so eventually not much money will be carried to and fro between them. If you're confused, let me tell you only the part that you need to know.

So say you take this order to our guild to collect for you, you'll have this amount of money with brother once he confirms with the guild written on it. Whether or not he actually collects it, is no longer your problem.

Then let's say because the coins will be too heavy to carry around everytime you needed to pay for large quantities of the purchases of your raw materials, you decide to let the seller go for the money from the guild by himself or herself instead.

So from then, you let the guild to receive huge payments on your behalf and also make them pay to others huge amounts owed them all on your behalf.

Do you know see the safety and the convenience of that?", Muchen asked and Yun Lui nodded in affirmation.

"So that's what he meant. He meant to say that it's easier to do your large transactions through a guild here in our country.

This is also part of the reasons you will see other merchants who do not trade in our goods at the guild."

"Wow. I would never have known this if not for this business right?"

"Well, it should not be your concern to know everything. Just knowing what should concern you at the moment is enough. As you keep doing the business that you're about to venture into, you need to open your mind. You're going to be exposed to a number of new things."

Yun Lui has already received the feedbacks from the other traders and Inn and food joint owners and they were good. Many have shown their interests, and are waiting for their first orders. Some too promised to order once he starts. Others decided to wait and see how the consumers will receive the products before they joined Yun Lui's clientele.

Two Weeks Later...

It's been two weeks since Yun Lui received the orders of Papa Jin and some other traders including Papa Gu.

Everyone in the Chis' house was very busy. They all have to help Yun Lui with the orders. Even Chi Yuan and his moon came to assist.

Now it was only left with a week for him to get the official business papers. Soon, with the efforts of everyone, Yun Lui was able to produce double the quantities that has been ordered. It was Papa Chi's idea to do that.

With only three days left and done with production, Yun Lui decided to rest.

Over the last weekend before it will be Monday for the papers to be in, Papa Chi made everyone cancelled all their plans, and the family went on a vacation. They went to one of their private villas, at the more remote part of town. Yun Lui has never being here before. He didn't even know that they had such a beautiful and peaceful place as theirs.

Everyone was happy there, even the twins made new friends with the neighbours.

Monday came and it was official, the approved documents were in. Yun Lui finally gets to start with his business officially!
