28. Depression

Yun Lui went into depression for sometime after giving birth to the twins. The may did not mind anyone, he would look at the babies and pull away as if he didn't want them near him.

Mama Chi herself could've taken care of the babies all by herself as she was already doing, but she didn't want Yun Lui to regret missing out on his babies' first moments.

Especially since they did not know when he'll come out of that situation. She has heard of some mothers who go through such but has never witnessed it before.

The only person that he responded to was Muchen. So out of desperation, Mama Chi used her son to get Yun Lui to eat, wash down, take his medicines, feed and cuddled the babies. Chi Muchen wouldn't mind if it was just that.

The may was literally stuck to him like glue. He will follow him everywhere. It was always hectic for Muchen to leave for work everyday. He had to hide and leave in secret, when he returns home again, the chaos continues.

He never planned to share his bed with him but will always wake up to see him in it, meaning, he has left the babies alone with his mother again. Muchen felt tormented by this. He got his door fixed in order to lock his it.

That Night...

"Muchen open the door", Mama Chi ordered her son and he did as told.

Immediately, Yun Lui rushed in.

"You can go to bed now." Mama Chi said as she made her way into the room where she and the babies were sleeping. Yun Lui did not like to sleep there with them.

"Mother, what's the meaning of this?", Muchen screamed at his mom for the first time in his life. This woke Papa Chi who was already a light sleeper up, so he came out to find his wife and son in a staring contest.

"What is going on here? And why are you both not sleeping at this time?"

"Ask mother. She came to wake me up to open the door and when I did, the may rushed into my room, then she turned to leave."

"He has a name. Can't you take pity on the poor boy. Are you not even glad that he sticks with you instead of running amok?"

"How has he become my responsibility? Mother, I'm your son. Just how do you think people will take a may sleeping on the same bed as a man, huh?", Muchen was furious and frustrated, more with his own mother.

"You, it's okay. Just hold it in for a while. As he keeps being with you, he'll start to get closer to other people and will leave you alone eventually.", Papa Chi tried to intervene.

He too has noticed what was going on but his wife was able to convinced him that it was only a phase so it will pass.

The next day, Muchen went to inform his older brother who also confronted his parents on his behalf but soon, he too seemed to have joined them.

Feeling betrayed and dejected, Muchen chose to just sack it up. 'They said it will pass, please let it pass quickly.'. This had been his prayer during the period.

As time went on, he found himself liking the may's company. 'It's not that bad.', he had thought.

Luckily, just as his family had said, Yun Lui changed in just a few weeks. Because Mama Chi made him get accustomed to the babies during his depressed state, it wasn't that difficult to carry out his duties towards his children, now that he was okay.

He felt bad towards his poor babies and his adopted family. He apologised to them, especially to Muchen. He thanked his stars for blessing him with such a caring and loving family.

Since then, they all closed the chapter on this and it was never mentioned again.

"Nope. I will not. I have to attend to these documents. Why? What is wrong with you?", Muchen asked him.

"Nothing. ", Yun Lui said and became quiet afterwards.

Seeing how sad he looked, Muchen decided to stop what he was doing. "Lulu, I know you came here because you're sad but why won't you tell me anything? Should I ignore you while you just sit there then?"

"No, brother.", he replied in a low voice.

"Then talk to me."

"Everyone is making me feel that I have done something bad because I had asked for those records."

"Well, I for one knows that, that's not my intention and I believe so did the rest. You only asked for those, because you're an innocent person who thought he was asking for just some books and for good reasons too.

It's just that in our country, especially here in the capital, there's politics everywhere, and an innocent request like yours could be turned into a dangerous tool against one and their family.

Don't blame yourself too much too. If you want I could accompany you again to go talk to the may that he should forget about it. What do you say to that?"

Yun Lui's eyes lit up. He nodded and together they left to see the may.

Yun Lui explained to him of his ignorance when it came to the deeper implications of his innocent request.

He asked for him and his husband to ignore that, and as a sign of goodwill, he will accept the deal for the full one year with no conditions from his side.

They then left the may's place and went back to Muchen's office till he clocked out and they went home together. Yun Lui was high in spirit.

Chi Yuan and Chi Lan had supper at the main house in the evening.

Everyone at the table praised and congratulated Yun Lui for his first business deal after he had given them the updates.

Mama Chi was so glad that he had cancelled that ridiculous condition.

Yun Lui slept that night with so much hope for the future.
