Chapter 4:

Grace followed the trail left behind by the car her mother drove for more than half an hour, and by the time she reached there, the scene had left her petrified. There were clear signs of an explosion taking place, a badly burnt vehicle was lying among the black mass surrounding it.

Grace stood there staring at the spot where there was a badly burnt body lying in the car. Unable to comprehend what she was seeing, Grace felt as if a lump was formed in her throat, and her breath shortened as if someone was choking her.

With hot tears falling down her cheeks as if every ounce of energy flew away from her, Grace slumped to the ground and burst into a heart-wrenching wail.

By the time the rescue team arrived Grace already fainted. A paramedic came forward to check up on Grace," She needs to get treatment immediately, her left leg seems to be fractured, we need a stretcher to carry her."

The paramedic administered first aid to Grace and helped the two members who brought the stretcher to shift Grace onto the stretcher.

Chester Residence

Inside a large villa or should be said a mansion a man seems to be speaking with someone on the phone having his eyebrows deeply furrowed together. Aaron Chester who is also Grace's step-father married Grace's mother Moneta after he divorced his first wife.

The Chester family runs Shopping malls all over the country. After formally taking up the company, Aaron's family arranged a marriage for him, being a loyal man he always trusted his wife and treated her with utmost care but alas his wife cheated on him with her ex-lover and even tried to steal their company secrets.

Aaron Chester and Moneta met for the first time when Aaron need to attend counseling sessions due to depression from his failed marriage and Moneta happened to be his attending doctor.

As time went by they became familiar with each other and Aaron gradually fell deeply in love with Moneta and proposed to marry her. Moneta always wanted to give Grace a complete family and Aaron was also a great man, so she accepted to become his wife.

Nonetheless, Moneta showered him with equal love and care becoming an ideal couple for everyone else.

Back to the present

" We only found your daughter sir, and she sustained several injuries of varying degrees but both your wife and son were missing, we also found a badly burnt body in madam's car, if you allow we will send it for identification", a respectable voice sounded through the phone.

Aaron's heart skipped a beat, but he held on to the glimmer of hope ' Maybe that body was not his wife's, his wife and son must have gone somewhere together.'
