"Hiya!" Julian screams while relentlessly swinging her daggers towards me. I try dodging and blocking, yet her movements are so fast my eyes can no longer keep up.
"Can't you take it easy? I won't be able to keep up." I say, out of breath, panting.
She smirks, telling me no while continuing to swing at me. (I can't see into the future like I could before. How can I keep up?) My body gets covered in cuts as the battle continues.
"You're being pathetic right now, Nux. Remember, in two days, we'll be able to head to dungeons again. I'll take you on for a minute." Piro says while he was spectating.
Julian steps aside as Piro gets his staff ready to attack. (How can he harm me? I thought he could only do holy magic) "Wind arrow!" He yells as a dozen arrows fly towards me.
I try to dodge and block arrows. However, there's too many. "Sheild!" An invisible wall appears before me, blocking some arrows. I run out of breath quickly.
"A protective spell not bad, yet they require a lot of mana. Try this for size. Mind Tremor!" The largest migraine I've ever experienced rushed into me. Grabbing my head, yelling in pain.
"Angelic chains!" Chained to the ground, unable to move, I groan.
"I win. It was pure luck that holy magic worked on you." Piro says, gloating his victory.
I groan as we take our leave. I prepare for more training the next day. Reading more science books to learn more spells.
"You ready, Nux? After today's training, we'll head to get your necklace." Piro says.
"Ready as I'll ever be." I say, rushing towards him, sword drawn.
He slams his staff down as a giant wall of light appears in front of him, blocking my path.
(Just cover your body in holy magic and charge. Ill hold off your demonic energy so it won't harm you.) Serephena says as I create a cloak made of light. Charging through his shield, I swing my sword towards him. Piro blocking it with his staff.
"Shave!" Piro moves extremely quickly where I can no longer see his movements. His staff whacking me multiple times. I flex my muscles, trying to lessen the damage. I close my eyes. (Ignore your sense of sight, focus on sounds.)
I hear his staff swing towards me multiple times, but I dodge in the wrong directions. I hear the wind right next to my head. I duck and throw my fist toward the sound, landing a direct hit on Piro's stomach.
"Haha, how was that? Who says I need my demonic powers to be strong?"
"Not bad. I'd like to teach you more, but it's time to go," Piro says as we set out to the guild, putting on my new necklace.
Not feeling any difference, I reluctantly tell Serephena she can stop controlling half my mind. As she leaves, it felt as if a cool breeze went across my face. We find some new missions for the week.
Julian, Piro, and I go out to eat before our first mission in over a week. Listed as a C-Rank elimination dungeon.
"Finally, a normal mission I could live without seeing another mutated or event dungeon." Julian says.
We head out to the portal. "Why aren't we taking a higher ranked portal? We've beaten a B-rank dungeon and were promoted to A rank." I ask
Julian explains that it's due to me still being inexperienced and having a handicap. These missions are to help pay bills and save up for Frank's healer.
We enter the dungeon filled with blood thirsty plants called bleeding hearts. I and Piro use fire magic to swiftly take care of the monsters while Julian collected some parts for sale.
Before we knew it, we finished all the C rank dungeons that were on the mission board.
"We completed six dungeons, yet we only have a third of the money need for Frank's treatment. We'll have to take some B-rank quest guys. I'd say with your training, Nux, you're as strong as a B rank even without your full power.
The following morning, Julian and I go out to buy plenty of clothes at the local store as I've only been wearing a few I could get my hands on. We then head to the portal with Piro.
"Alright guys, let's go. We only have to take on three dungeons in order to make enough money." Piro says excitedly.
We head in arrows, fly by my head, grazing it. All of us draw our weapons prepared for an ambush. Another arrow flies toward me and I duck. However, the arrow hits me in the back.
"Are these things homing on us?" A barrage of arrows flies towards us from nearby trees. Piro casts a shield to protect us, the arrows breaking. Then, turning into dead bodies.
"Careful, these are SpiritBodies, a unique race that can transform into weapons." Julian says as a person appears behind her, trying to stab her.
She jumps back. However, the saber extends itself, cutting her side. Before we knew it, there were dozens of SpiritBodies surrounding us in the field. The most worrying is a large person standing far away on top a cliff with a humongous sword as tall as a human.
Screaming comes from behind me. I turn around my neck, grazed by a sword. (Never mind about that guy, no more distractions. We must kill them all.)
My sword breaks through many weapons, killing those people. I also cast a few spells while trying to conserve my mana. (Why why why don't kill people? It isn't right.) Serephena pleads in my head.
"Sorry, just as Julian said, it's kill or be killed." I say aloud. The ground sinking beneath my feet. I try to wiggle myself out.
(What the hell do they have a mage?!) I frantically search around. Spotting a strange looking SpiritBody with a gem in his head next to the bulky guy.
"Solidify!" I shout, trying to turn the back into Solid. however it continues to suck me in. "How about this? Ice spear!" An icicle flies over to the man, piercing his gem, the ground surrounding me, turning solid.
The large man looks at us in destain as his numbers have decreased drastically. He sprints fast towards us. Before I knew it, he was right in front of me.
