Dancing with Monsters

Have you ever heard the story “The Woman with a Ribbon Around her Neck”? No? Well, aren't you in for a treat. I am a monster; from a long line of monsters. At first, I hated it, I wanted to be nothing more than a normal human... and for a few hundred years I blended in just fine with the rest of you. Mommy issues and all. But with a mother like Pandora, what can you expect? What? You've heard of Pandora? That's cute, she is nothing like how the storied have painted her. But this isn't her story, just her mess to clean up. But I digress. I grew. I learned that I could be so much more than I ever thought possible. If I was going to embrace being a monster, I would go all out. Me and my men will make sure that the humans don't need to worry about the things that go bump in the night. What Pandora released onto the world, I would take out. Feel free to leave all that messy business to us. Just The Head I Wanted To See

"We are going to wait until Natalia wakes up and let us know what she wants," answered Nicholas, not paying any attention to the angel in the room.

"I repeat, if he is a threat, it is better to kill him now. I can always just say I didn't know who he was when I shot him," reasoned Sasha. The smile on his face was a tad bit unhinged, but none of the guys really cared about it.

"He called her an abomination," pointed out Greyson, speaking for the first time in a while. "I have issues with him."

"Then he really needs to die."

"No. No killing," snarled Nicholas, taking the role of leader of the group of males. He seemed to be the only one with a working brain.

"Then a wound? Shoulder? Thigh? Something that will hurt but not cause any lasting damage?" suggested Sasha, his gun never wavering in the least.

Nicholas paused for a second. The guy did have a point. He only wanted to keep him around in case Natalia had any questions about her angel side, but that didn't mean they couldn't play with him for a while.

"She is sleeping upstairs; a gunshot would wake her up," pointed out Levi as he took a sip from his glass. He was usually a beer guy, but it seemed that he would have to get used to the hard stuff since he was going to be around Natalia and not more.

"Understood," nodded Sasha as he lowered the gun. Michael didn't flinch the entire time the human weapon was aimed at him. There was no way the human was going to shoot him. He was an angel.

Suddenly, there was a sharp pain in his shoulder and thigh, causing Michael to drop to his knees.

He looked up and saw that the weapon was back to being pointed at him again, only this time, there was something extra on the end of it.

"Silencer," smiled the human. "The concern was waking up Nat, not hurting you."

Michael rose back to his feet and leaned against the wall behind him, crossing his arms in front of his chest. His blood flowed freely, but he wouldn't give the human the joy of seeing him in pain.

Clearly, the abomination was keeping bad company—first a demon and then a human who had no problems shooting angels.

The human, Sasha, smiled at him again and lowered the weapon until it was on the couch beside him.

Before anyone could say anything else, there was another sharp pain as a third bullet entered his stomach.

This time, it was a man sitting beside Sasha that fired the gun, but no one had seen him move.

"You hurt her feelings," shrugged the man like it was obvious as to why he felt he needed to shoot the angel too.

"Well, if this isn't a bonding exercise, I don't know what is," smiled Mathew as the wolf turned around and shot Michael in his other shoulder.

Still, the angel refused to move. The blood loss wouldn't kill him. In fact, the wounds were already spitting out the bullets and healing themselves.

The dumbass mortals were using lead bullets—stupid males.

Michael sneered in his head, but then he caught Nicholas' smile.

"What is making you so happy, demon?" sneered the angel as yet another bullet pierced into him.

"You think they are trying to kill you," chuckled Nicholas. He got up and went to the wet bar to grab another drink. The others were making this a much more pleasant experience than he first thought.

"They are simply getting out their frustrations. They need you to be healed fast so they don't get in trouble with our mate," continued Nicholas as he filled his glass and then went back to his chair. "You are only here until Natalia gets bored of you. Then you are free game. Ever been shot with a bullet soaked in demon blood? I hear it is particularly painful for someone like you."

"You would too," said the angel. The wall was the only reason why he hadn't collapsed onto the floor yet. He didn't know why it was so important to him for the other males in the room to acknowledge his strength, but it was.

Nicholas smiled as he went back to staring into the fire.

"So," smiled Sasha as he took another drink. "Tell me everything."

----

It was one of the most disconcerting things I had ever witnessed in my 200-plus years on Earth. Seven men sat around my dining room table, eating… and getting along.

I shook my head at the sight, sure that I was missing something.

"Morning, Cupcake!" smiled Sasha jumping out of his chair and rushing around the table to where I was standing at the entrance of the room. "Did you miss me?"

I looked at the cheery knight in front of me, and I could be completely honest with myself. "I missed you," I said with a smile on my face as he leaned forward to give me a kiss on my cheek.

"I missed you too," he whispered in my ear before pulling back. "But you are here, and I'm not leaving. In fact, I should warn you that I might become a stage five clinger."

"You think he is joking, but he isn't," muttered Mathew as he stood up and walked over to the two of us. Kissing my cheek, he placed his hand on the small of my back and escorted me to the head of the table.

Sasha darted around to pull out the chair before I could, and I sat down.

"You are all creeping me out," I said finally as I looked at Greyson and the rest of the guys. Even Michael was quietly eating.

"Did you have a good night, Michael? If your room isn't to your liking, let me know, and I can change a few things around," I continued as the man in question sipped his cup of coffee.

"My room was perfect," he answered after a minute. "And your men have been very accommodating."

I looked at the others. There was no way they would have been accommodating, but if that was the way we were playing this…

"So happy to hear."

One of the servers set a plate of pancakes and perfectly cooked bacon in front of me, and I started to eat just as Stephanie entered the room.

"Just the Head I wanted to see. There is a crap ton of stuff to get done now that you are back."
