Crown Of Hearts

***Together, they were like fire and ice.*** Damon pursued, ready to conquer while Alexander ran, trying so hard to remain cold and guarded. Alexander had thought guarding the sick crown prince was something so easy until he found himself cruelly yet so innocently tempted. ***excerpt*** "You will stay the hell away from me." Alexander threatened, his voice hard and tortured as he tried to recover from his emotional rollercoaster. "Oh really?" Damon drawled as he held up a wine glass to his lips, taking a sip as his eyes looked at the man that was standing quite a distance from him, ready to bolt. "Yes and I mean it your highness." Alexander replied and he watched the mischievous gleam that entered the prince's clear blue eyes that were quite a welcome compliment to his thick silver hair. "Alright." he relented and Alexander blinked, surprised but his relief lasted for seconds. "We will see how far you can run my honorable knight. Oh and just so you know, I love a good chase." Damon assured and it didn't take Alexander ages to know that he had close to no winning chance when it came to this one man. Oh yes, he was doomed...so sweetly doomed.... ... someone has been naughty

Damon smirked as he stood, wondering whether his knight knew that his concerned facial expression greatly betrayed his words.

Even though it made him a little happy that this man cared for his well-being, Damon could have preferred to have him admit it.

"Let's go and find the physician." Damon said as he walked away with a hand over his wound to stop the blood that was leaving his body at a faster rate than was normal.

Damon could feel his vision start to blur after they had walked through a few corridors.

His body had a weakness that infuriated him and before he could lean against a wall to hide his state, Damon staggered.

It was a brief moment but the man behind him was keen and he was by his side in less than a second.

"Are you alright?" His knight asked as he stood before him, those forest green eyes, studying him.

Damon hissed softly, both from the pain that consumed his entire body and the fact this man was seeing him during a moment of weakness.

That greatly troubled him as he kept his eyes, lowered.

He did not want to appear a weakling infront of anyone, especially not this man!

"I am fine." Damon replied as he willed himself to look up.

Alexander frowned slightly.

"No you are not." He stated as he looked at the prince's pale face and noticed the few droplets of sweat on his forehead.

"Let me help you." Alexander offered as he stepped closer, attempting to wrap his hand around his shoulder to help him walk.

"I don't want your help." Damon said through gritted teeth and Alexander was surprised by the indifference in his tone.

He ignored his statement and wrapped an arm around his waist, bringing Damon's arm to rest over his shoulder.

"I told you I don't want..."

Damon snapped his head in Alexander's direction, his eyes furious only for him to pause his statement when he noticed the closeness of their faces.

His eyes lowered to meet Alexander's lips and the knight froze but recovered quickly.

"What were you saying, your highness?" Alexander asked and Damon raised his eyes to meet his, shooting him a glare.

"Nothing." He whispered, wordlessly accepting this man's help because he could barely stand.

They walked on in a silence that seemed to torture Alexander more than it did Damon who was focused on trying to remain conscious.

Alexander was acutely aware of his fingers that were lightly pressed into Damon's waist as they moved on.

The innocent touch seemed to bring back memories of the previous night and Alexander knew that he was to blame for his current situation.

He had offered to help and now he had to endure the heat that was seeping into his body at the contact. There was not much he could do about it.

His thoughts were interrupted by the sudden change in Damon breathing from a low and shallow rhythm to a rapid wheezing.

Alexander felt his concern spike as he looked at the man that was sweating more now.

"We are almost there, hang on." He whispered as he quickened his steps only for the man in his arms to go limp shortly afterwards.

Alexander placed his arms beneath his knees and carried the prince in on swift motion.

"Your highness... Damon!?" He called out in an attempt to reach the prince in his unconscious state but the only movement he got was the brief movement of his eyes beneath his eyelids.

They were remaining with a few more turns and corridors to reach the royal physician's quarters but Alexander branched off, taking Damon to his room with was nearer.

He was literally running and the few onlookers could sense how dire the situation was from the grim look on Alexander's face.

"I need you to get the royal physician. Please make haste." Alexander told a maid once he neared Damon's room.

The familiar room was neat and organized and Alexander paced the room once he had placed Damon on the bed.

An intense worry washed over him as he loomed over the pale and motionless prince, thinking of a way he could help him.

Alexander picked up a small towel and rubbed off the sweat on his forehead, wondering how he was sweating yet his skin was cold.

Thankfully, the royal physician arrived moments later and carried out precise examinations, his aura one of professionalism.

The middle aged man was a little worried as he felt Damon's pulse.

Alexander stiffened, hoping nothing bad happened to this prince.

"Is he going to be fine." He asked.

"His heartbeat is relatively low and coupled with the injury and blood loss, his highness may remain unconscious for a few days." The physician gave him a brief report that did not help to ease Alexander's worry.

"Come and help me take off his shirt and wipe his upper body clean as I prepare medicine for the wound." The physician requested and Alexander did as he was told, dipping a towel in some luke warm water before he proceeded to take off Damon's shirt.

His face burned as several hickeys, ones he knew he was responsible for, came into view.

The physician briefly glanced in his direction, only for his eyes to widen once he saw the red marks on the prince's body.

"These might be sun burns." Alexander blurted out, feigning worry.

"Oh...look clearly child, those are love bites. I am sure the queen and the rest of his family will be amused to know the prince has gotten himself some passionate lover." The old man grinned, amused at his findings.

The tips of Alexander's ears burned as he wiped Damon's chest slowly, scenes of him bitting and kissing Damon all over his body playing in his mind. It hadn't been something he could control, it had been more like an instinct.

The physician finished applying a thick green paste on Damon's wound as the door swung open and the prince's entire family walked in.

The king and queen both spoke at the same time, just addressing different people.

"What happened?" The king asked Alexander, his worry evident while the queen had her attention on the royal physician.

"Is my son going to be alright?" She asked.

The rest of the prince's family, his three siblings stood at his bed side, looking down at Damon with concerned faces.

"Your son is going to be fine, my Queen." The physician replied first.

"The prince got hurt during his morning training." Alexander explained to the king.

Suddenly, someone chuckled, drawing all attention in the room to her.

It was one of prince Damon's sisters.

"What's funny about this situation, Daphne?" The Queen questioned her daughter, her voice slightly irritated yet curious.

"Looks like someone has been...naughty." Daphne replied as she looked at the hickeys on Damon's body and everyone followed her gaze.
