Crown Of Hearts

***Together, they were like fire and ice.*** Damon pursued, ready to conquer while Alexander ran, trying so hard to remain cold and guarded. Alexander had thought guarding the sick crown prince was something so easy until he found himself cruelly yet so innocently tempted. ***excerpt*** "You will stay the hell away from me." Alexander threatened, his voice hard and tortured as he tried to recover from his emotional rollercoaster. "Oh really?" Damon drawled as he held up a wine glass to his lips, taking a sip as his eyes looked at the man that was standing quite a distance from him, ready to bolt. "Yes and I mean it your highness." Alexander replied and he watched the mischievous gleam that entered the prince's clear blue eyes that were quite a welcome compliment to his thick silver hair. "Alright." he relented and Alexander blinked, surprised but his relief lasted for seconds. "We will see how far you can run my honorable knight. Oh and just so you know, I love a good chase." Damon assured and it didn't take Alexander ages to know that he had close to no winning chance when it came to this one man. Oh yes, he was doomed...so sweetly doomed.... ... I got distracted

"You should go and get something to eat." Damon said to Alexander once they arrived at the training grounds without turning to face him.

Once Alexander left, Damon walked over to the soldiers that were training.

His frustration was still apparent in his aura as he stood next to the army general that was overseeing the training.

The man was an old friend.

"Who has raffled your feathers, Damon?" He asked curiously and Damon inhaled sharply in an attempt to disregard his feelings.

"No one." Damon replied as he glanced at the man who gave him the look that made him know he didn't sound convincing.

Damon ignored him, his eyes returning to the men that had their swords clicking in combat.

"I want to spar with one of them. Which one is the best, Eamon?" He asked as he made his own assessment of the men's skills.

"You could spar with me." Eamon offered and Damon's brow quirked up in mock surprise.

And risk losing to you. I think I am fine, he thought.

Damon's sword fighting skills were good but Eamon's were better. The man was the best swordsman he knew.

Damon was more practiced in archery.

"Another time perhaps, losing to you will not help lighten my mood." Damon admitted.

After successfully choosing his sparring partner, Damon stripped off his white linen shirt and positioned himself in a fighting stance.

He didn't want the fine material getting drenched in sweat and thankfully, the thin white under shirt he wore hid the red marks all over his torso.

People gawked at the dashing prince that was nearly half naked, impressed by his physic that was outlined by the tight shirt he wore.

The maids passing by froze to stare and even a few of the men had their eyes lingering a little longer.

Damon's moves were fluid and his body frame that was relatively smaller than that of his opponent, allowed him to move around with a grace that was admirable.

The man knew what he was doing.

Alexander's chest tightened uncomfortably at the scene that caught his attention once he was done with his quick breakfast.

The displeasure on his face was subtle but noticeable as he looked at the crown prince that was training in the grounds, completely oblivious of all the eyes on him.

For some reason, Alexander did not like all the attention this man was receiving.

He wanted all his ogling admirers gone.

Not quite understanding his thoughts and feelings, Alexander sighed as he leaned against the wall and continued to watch him.

A conversation between a couple of maids caught his attention. He briefly glanced in their direction before fixing his eyes on the crown prince he was guarding.

"Stop staring child, your jaw is nearly dropping." The older maid scolded the younger.

"I can't help it, the crown prince is so handsome." The younger one drawled.

"And you think he will marry you. Snap out of it girl." The older maid said, her voice harsh but with a hint of concern.

"I don't care about that, I just want him to look at me and maybe..." She paused, sighing dreamly.

Alexander saw the older maid shake her head, as if she was trying to knock some sense into a total idiot with little luck.

"Don't you know that prince is cursed. Think of what will become of your bastard child if you did manage to lay with him. Your offspring will grey before they are even fifty years!" The older maid exclaimed and the younger maid paled, completely thrown off as she looked away from the prince.

Alexander briefly watched the pair leave before he looked at Damon again.

He had heard of the rumors too but he just wasn't one to believe something so ridiculous.

Alexander knew magic did exist but this prince did not look like he was under a hex. He looked normal.

Intimate scenes of them flashed in his mind at the thought that he did not have to worry about having grey haired children.

Alexander had come to quite like the color grey and he realized that even if he had grey haired offspring in the future, he couldn't mind much.

The tips of his ears reddened as he marveled at the direction his thoughts were taking.

This prince had really gotten to his head.

A swift movement of a blade had him swinging into action as the prince's opponent made a long cut across his abdomen.

Alexander ran as fast as he could and within seconds, he was at Damon's side.

The sight of the mild amount of blood that had soaked the white shirt around the wound had his brows furrow.

His injury wasn't so serious but it probably hurt.

"Is the cut deep." He asked as he followed the prince who went to sit on a nearby bench.

"No." Damon replied as he sat down, wincing slightly at the sharp sting in his abdomen.

Losing blood in his current situation was bad and he hadn't intended to get hurt. He had been distracted during his fight and the man before him was to blame.

"What happened?" Alexander asked because this prince rarely got hurt during his training.

Damon's icy blue eyes met his in a thoughtful silence.

"I got distracted for a while." He replied as he averted his eyes from his.

He wanted add 'by you...' but Damon bit down his tongue.

"You should have that checked out by the physician." Alexander said instead, not wishing to pry further.

"Are you worried for me, sir Alexander?" Damon teased and Alex felt the tips of his ears heat up.

What was this man trying to do?

"I am only protecting you, your highness. Don't want the crown prince suffering from an infection." He replied, his tone as detached as he could make it.
